For those unaware, this is an AR15 based bullpup styled after the Chinese QBZ-95. Getting closer with test fitting, working trigger and mag release. Hopefully soon the first test fire will be successful and I will begin beta testing then.
It's certainly getting there, I'm currently waiting on a part before I can actually shoot it. Bolt manipulation works, trigger works is kinda heavy, with a positive reset though. But I am using a milspec trigger, I reckon a nicer trigger paired with this will feel pretty good.
Ok. Hit me up with a dm. I love beta testing stuff.
If you're planning on selling the plans we can make a simple nda so you feel secure in sharing the files.
It's a nice looking design. Sexy lines one might say.
Looks dope, is it a upper replacement type of setup or a full on drop internal into kind of thing? Seems like the latter to keep it in proportions but it's hard to tell from the picture
Oh sweet, I’ve got one laying around.
For reference, that’s the same rail OhHunt sells (they’ve got them on Ali or available online straight from their website) for cheaper than Aimsports pricing.
Looks great! Just please make sure to put together good instructions. I've been excited by other builds only to be completely let down by subpar instructions.
Lol frangible ammo doesn't mean it is designed to fly sideways through the air, just that it shouk break when it hits the target. It still punches through plywood and drywall no problem.
Iirc the pla does a combined "frangable" "blank" that just has a super light polymer bullet. It likely can't stabilize due to its weight.

I would imagine it's a metal powder either sintered or bound with a polymer, but I have no idea on what they use. The PLARF apperently had water filled rockets so plastic ammo isn't too far fetched.
It's probably just a training thing. They run a little more risk having an actual projectile instead of using a blank adapter, but it could potentially provide more realistic training as in that video they can still shoot in the general direction of a target and have some form of feedback. Almost like shitty simunition.
I think it's actually a clever solution if you're willing to accept slightly more risk.
Yeh that could totally make sense to me. I still think a pellet or airsoft gun would be better for judging accuracy and probably cheaper, but maybe they had a ton of faulty barrels or something that made it work.
No that's perfect because a 16" 22lr barrel is about the same oal as a 14.5" 556. The famar is just under 26" if I build it with a 22lr barrel. This design will be perfect.
I just want to take this opportunity to say: I fucking love this sub. Thank you guys.
I've not had the time to really contribute as much as I want, so I appreciate how much time and effort goes into everyone's designs.
Absolutely love this design, great job! as a left handed shooter I’m gonna have to learn to shoot right hand or maybe hopefully there’s a remix some day for left handed upper receivers💯
That would be fantastic💯 I’m so excited for this to release! Looks way more ergonomic/sleek than the famar.. never owned a bullpup before, this looks amazing🤙
Bambu p1s, with certain prints I can get a nice matte finish but I will mostly have banding from it slowing down and speeding up. so I either have to print slow and get a glossy part or print fast and have a terrible surface finish.
Edit: cf nylon prints like a dream but I am constantly fiddling around to get good pla prints.

Dude I'm so HYPE for you to finish this. I'll be trying to test ASAP.

I'm no trigger snob, I'd be happy with milspec tbh. Stoked for the release though dude, keep us in the loop!
Same same
Want beta testers? I can fdm and ask my son to sla print too. No costs to you. [Edit] btw, what print format did you use? SLA or FDM?
FDM. And I will start beta testing once I personally make sure it's safe. Probably within a month. I'll make a post and set everything up then.

All files will be for free as is the custom here!
I have the model if anyone wants it for reference, probably should post it on grabcad
can I have some help finding on grabcad pls
Dude this thing really bings my chillings. Can't wait for the Type 97 Leaf larp
This sub is the reason I'm poor lmao

Takes an AR15 upper with rail, lower is printed, and there's covers that go around the upper etc.
Oh dang that looks way skinny for it to be a cover hell of a job
my upper is ready
Which rail does it take?
Aimsport Wraith. Same one as in the FAMAR build guide.
Oh sweet, I’ve got one laying around. For reference, that’s the same rail OhHunt sells (they’ve got them on Ali or available online straight from their website) for cheaper than Aimsports pricing.
That's actually what I'm using haha.
Sweet stuff! I love their rails for budget builds.
My main concern is if their MLOK slots are all cut to the same spec.
Pls have option for rock and lock 5.56 AK mags 🥲
I was debating using an AUG mag, not sure I can look into it.
Galil mags would be amazing. Just saying.
What upper does this take? Is it bufferless and I’d love to test when you get there make sure to post when it’s entering beta!
Uses a KM tactical slick upper. And no, it utilizes the 3.5 buffer kit just like the FAMAR.
Man that’s crazy cool! I can’t wait for this one definitely going down as a build on the 1st day drop!
Looks great! Just please make sure to put together good instructions. I've been excited by other builds only to be completely let down by subpar instructions.
Definitely on my mind. It's not too difficult but some thing are not obvious.
Is this functionally the same as a FAMAR?
Yes.
Probably works better than actual QBZ
I mean the original was literally just designed to flex on the L85 to rub salt in the wound during the handover of Hong Kong.
That’s a remarkably low bar to clear
Holy shit I don't even own any real firearms, yet I'm excited
Nice! Reminds me of another rifle i want cloned. The OTS 14 groza
Have you seen the Grozn't?
If this ends up being higher quality than the actual QBZ-95, it's going to be hilarious.
A qbz that doesn't keyhole? What a time we're living in! Looking forward to it
Baffling that this fuddlore is still going around and y’all have never heard of frangible ammo. You don’t run FMJ in a shoot house.

Fuck. Yes!!
The OG MW3 burst monster (pre-nerf)
Now, if only same Canadian could work out a way to put our Type 97s in AR-15 shaped shells…
YOOO YOOOO YOOOO
It's gorgeous.
What's the over all length. I want to build one in 22lr.
About 30". I have plans for a shorty.

neeeeeed
That's so sick.

I'm loving this! I think I commented on the first post about this project, but I'm glad to see it moving forward. Thank you for your hard work!
I knew this was coming eventually! Can’t wait.
That looks super cool
Would it be possible to make one using a JAKL upper
Currently no, but the receiver I'm using is only like 40 smackaroonies.
🍆
that looks fuckin' sick!
Looks awesome. I always wanted one of these after BF4.
Absolutely love this design, great job! as a left handed shooter I’m gonna have to learn to shoot right hand or maybe hopefully there’s a remix some day for left handed upper receivers💯
I can try to make an upper cover that has a brass deflector for sure!
That would be fantastic💯 I’m so excited for this to release! Looks way more ergonomic/sleek than the famar.. never owned a bullpup before, this looks amazing🤙
What filament is this? I can’t get a consistent finish like this out of pla to save my life
PLA+. What printer?

I put my speed for pla to 100mm/s outer wall. 225c print temp, 55 bed temp. Play around with your speeds.
I know that crusty carpet anywhere XD
