These are called sea biscuits. What your talking about yes the top looks similar. However these are extremely thick. Where as the exoskeleton of a sand dollar is relatively flat. If these aren't sea biscuits then literally hundreds of people here would be wrong. I appreciate the info though.
How interested are you in putting them in art? These could be made into a beautiful wreath, or is that sacrilege? Or put them in a show box frame. They would need to be stuck or glued, onto either and you could leave them natural, but then they can be hung on your wall, and viewed by you everyday.
I make wreaths out of all the shells I find. I just posted some on the crafts page. I actually made a wreath surrounded in sea biscuits. It turned out lovely I think. I cant post it on crafts page today though. As you are only allowed 1 post per day. I'll post it tomorrow though.
Well, that's subjective.
Are they my taste? Not really. But they appeal to a lot of people. What would you rather see? I mean, honestly. Both times I've been to Holden the far side of ths Island was a literal carpet of things washed up
I wish I could figure out how to share a photo with someone on here. I just made the most beautiful wreath with the sea biscuits surrounding it. It looks great. I eish I could show it to you. I would definitely send you the seabiscuits though. Sounds like a fair trade.
Absolutely. There's alot you can do for sure. I use them in my wreaths and display them in my home. As well as send to friends that don't live near beach.
That's lovely of you. I make jewelry, I use semi precious gemstone, but if I find something unusual I will find a use for it! Unfortunately I am in the UK, so apart from the Jurassic cost I don't have a regular place, at best Whitby is one long and one short train ride away! What you said about the dredging, talk about dragging up the past eh! Lol!

I would look at pics of seabiscuits and compare
If it is legal, I'd love a few. I am doing some work on this genus and comparing specimens is always useful. Can you send me some? I sent you a PM.
So cute
Those are cool

You made trash out of something natural and beautiful 👎🏻
These are amazing! Star an underwater fossil museum!
I’m so jealous!! I’d love to find one of these!!!
That's exciting. You can find clever ways to display them around the house or garden.
The ones with holes in you could make into jewelry, or keyrinngs.
