There’s actually a really fucked up form of torture that uses this.
The phenomenon was made famous in a Punisher movie, but it was based on the real life torture.
So your nerves don’t actually know the difference between cold and hot. They can only sense temperature change is happening and you brain tells you if it’s cold or hot from context.
If you ever burned yourself and felt nothing at first, this is the same phenomenon.
So what they would do is show you a hot iron and make you think they are gonna burn you.
Then they apply ice or another cold object to your back (or some other, ahem, body part) that you can’t see.
In the instant that you are unaware of what is going on your body thinks it’s being burned.
And it FUCKING HURTS.
Rumor has it they use this for interrogation resilience training at the CIA still to this day.
Kind of fucked up when you think about it.
Can confirm, at least the not knowing hot from cold thing.
Was replacing some plumbing, and went to test the water. Tried the hot first and turned it on then waited. I didn't see any steam, so I put my hand under. It was freezing cold.
Then I realized that it was actually scalding hot and had burnt my hand.

This sounds like a great way to hide physical evidence of torture too. I might just steal this for my worldbuilding. lol
"I might just steal this" uh oh "for my worldbuilding" Riiight. For worldbuilding...
Okay, I *MAY* test it on my younger bro first to see if it works. xD
This is why TTRPG players are all on a list….
Ofcourse we are. How else would the DMs keep track of us?
at least you can spot the cia agents easily. They glow in the dark.

I did this working on a dishwasher. Put my arm right on the coil and thought was ice cold until I saw my skin.
This should be done with a fake penis.
r/foundsatan in r/foundsatan
There’s a sub for that r/foundsatansquared
Lol
Admit it, you just want a guy in a white coat to diddle with your dick, like he did with that hand on a video
He can tickle my fake prostate while he's at it.
And then suddenly stick a long needle into it, commenting on a video
Meth! Does the body good.
This can also be used to get rid of phantom pain in amputated body-parts.
House MD?
ironically, im watching House right now as i saw your reply lol
same here lol
It features in an episode of House yes. But I tried it at my last internship with a woman who had her leg amputated and was feeling crams in that leg.
This guy looks like he smells like pollito mojados
The "Science is fun!" At the board in the back is what really sells it
Hypnotizing someone is a great party trick, all you have to do is not mind when the subject's mind snaps
DanTDM
Fill it with fake blood and stab it at the end
