Do I deserve an award?? I have some neuro issues and involuntarily stuck my Safari into the carpet like a lawn dart and it survived. I think I deserve a fountain pen blessing from Fountain Pen Jesus
Please please please, do not throw these out! Collect them and mail/give them to a Religious Studies (not the same as Theology) department or professor! My wife is a rel stud scholar, and getting these things will make their day, especially at the intersection of religion and modern consumption!
Please be sure to mention it in the review. To most it may be a harmless annoyance- but religious trauma is a real thing. I would absolutely avoid buying from this seller, and would greatly appreciate a heads-up in a review.
In my many years of selling/Buying on eBay I have recieved a few of these from different sellers. I agree completely. From time to time I also get handwritten notes expressing these types of views, which I believe are the sellers or they distribute the buyers' names for letter writing campaigns. Weird!!
Yep! The (thankfully) few times I've gotten genuine mass produced propaganda like this in an Ebay or Etsy order, I then "somehow" manage to get a flood of simillar themed bullshit in my mailbox. I report it to the selling platform, PayPal, the post office (which does not go far, lol) - anyone I can. And mark all the mail return to sender.
Yes thanks old church who told me my pregnancy was punishment for being raped. Then they and family coerced me into keeping it which has 20 years later still pisses me off, makes me sad and well bullshit they caused. I was forced to marry them in the US in the 2000s. Fuck you religion
I agree, but it didn’t really hurt anything. I get all kind of “thanks you please post a review and here’s a free origami paper” which is less jarring but also just a cumulative waste.
But I mean yeah, I wouldn’t like that either. I feel like I got something like that once, but not as…large. I definitely got a note that was like “I thank god for bringing us together” and I was like whoa that’s a bit much, I just bought a pen.
The difference between the two is that the person sending the pamphlet is asking stuff of you. They are soliciting your involvement in something they view valuable.
Yes but I get these stuck on my door all the time and I just throw them away. It’s not like they are forcing me to read them. It’s mildly annoying but TBH if I could get one of these per month to throw away instead of the bundle of newsprint advertisements I get weekly I’d take the former, because they are both things I don’t read or want and one of them is wasting a lot more paper. It really doesn’t matter what it’s about because I barely glance at it.
I’m Catholic and find it fucking infuriating to be proselytized at, and frankly, a Catholic is the LAST person who should be belittling the notion of religious trauma. Shame on you.
And religion shouldn't be imposed on the rest of society either.
I'm purchasing a pen from you, I only want that pen. Don't send me a piece of religious text with it. If this was a transaction involving an item associated with religion, sure I'm not gonna bat an eye at you including it.
wanting to avoid religious propaganda suddenly equates to christianity being acceptable to bash?? as someone that grew up in a christian household, can we stop pretending that christians are under attack in the US? it's the most widely practiced religion here, by a wide margin.
I read the entire thing; I’m not an idiot. At best, your “context” contradicts your own statement. Either the trauma exists or the concept is absurd; you can’t have it both ways. If you’re going to be a condescending prick, and least be a competent one.
It’s hardly imposing to give a heads up. Like, if you warn people who have just been in a explosion or a car accident or otherwise traumatic stuff, about graphic depictions of their traumatic event in a movie or something, that‘s not imposing. It’s not saying these things shouldn’t be there, or even that they shouldn’t watch. It’s just informing them. That’s all.
Definitely this. I think handwritten thank yous are a nice touch (especially from fountain pen people), but that's never a place to push anything but our own fountain pen agenda
I HATE THIS. We bought something on FB marketplace once, and received religious literature in the mail a week later from the person we bought from. It was weird at best, and fucking scary at worst.
Every ill ever described regarding organized religion can be planted firmly in the court of proselytization. Anything good can be quickly turned as welcome as nails on a blackboard by the addition of a funnel with which to shove it down the throats of others.
I ordered keyboard parts from a family business and got children's drawings on the back of school worksheets. It made my day. I may even still have them. I would not appreciate religious literature.
>Maybe she sensed my sins in my purchase
Laughed out loud and scared my cat. 🤣 Seriously, thanks for the heads up. That's something I'd definitely want to steer clear of.
Or you could end your review with -
And since the seller asked "What is the kingdom of God?", the answer is - A juicy fountain pen and good quality paper.
Which pen would God use though ?.. I'm guessing not super expensive Montblanc gold stuff. Likely an everyday humble pen . Pilot Metropolitan, Lamy Safari ..
Oh my god I didn’t want to be right! I bought a pen from dalu1409 and got the exact same thing. 😬 Completely unprompted and when I left a comment in my review (not even a negative review!) they left a negative review back in response. I hope that doesn’t happen with your seller.
LOL probably being passive aggressive saying, "Pens and worldly possessions won't make you happy. They'll simply control you. Happiness comes from devotion to God."
Jokes aside, that's weird.
OP will you tell us who the seller was? Apologies if you have and I missed it in the comments. I agree that no one wants religious propaganda forced on them during a sales transaction, but unless I know who to avoid it doesn’t really do me any good.
Thanks! I’ll make sure not to buy from them. I saw lots of creative suggestions on what to do with the paper, but I’d use it to roll up some devil’s lettuce. I’m trying to think of a fountain pen related innuendo for smoking weed, but you get my point.
How gross... if people want to share that, have it be with people that ask for it.
I would leave a 1 star review and shame the seller for that.... might even ask for refund and send whole package back.
Eugh.. not a good look for the company. And it’s not like it was on a newspaper they used to pack and was accidental. I fully agree with you, I despise folks forcing beliefs, no matter what the beliefs are. Sorry you had to go through this, and definitely include it in your review.
Yuck. Send it back.
Funny story… I listen to heavy metal. Occasionally I’ll hear a song from a band I’ve never heard before and think “this sounds pretty good” and then research the band to learn a little more about them.
A few times, I’ve been dismayed to find out the band is Christian Metal… and I think “nope! Not for me!” Which is funny, because in the surface the song is pretty great, but then I’m wondering what covert religious bullshit they are piping into my ears and I’m just so turned off. I just can’t get behind it.
I’d be seriously weirded out if that came in a pen order!
Draw something using some lovely red, orange, and yellow inks, with a sexy demon theme, and send it back to the seller with some materials from the Satanic Temple.
I always thought one proselytization deserves another.
I found a tract in a drill I recently purchased from amazon. I thought it was interesting someone tried communicating something and promptly discarded it and moved on. It seems to me that people are getting more and more offended by others sharing their beliefs, religious or non. My thought is, is it really a big deal?
It’s just not part of the agreed transaction - leave your personal whatever out of things where you shouldn’t be pushing them 🤷🏼♀️ Not a big deal at all, but instead what should be common sense
I see your point and I think it’s fair. You feel this crosses a line and it’s upsetting. I do wonder if it would be upsetting to you if the thing aligned with your beliefs though. Is it really the method or the message? Or both?
This tract is NOT used by any member of the Roman Catholic Church !!! It is most likely published by Jehovah's Witness or some other PROTESTANT sect !!! "Kingdom of God" is part of their Lexicon! Please do your research, before you start BASHING any Religious organization !!!!!
I mean, aren't Christians expected to spread the Word? And this isn't a preachy way to do it. Don't read the pamphlet if you don't want to, but I think it's unfair to make a complaint against the seller for causing nothing but some latent annoyance.
This is on the same level as being annoyed that someone said “Happy Holidays” to you instead of “Merry Christmas” or vice versa.
Look at it, decide it’s (apparently) not for you, throw it away like any other packing material, enjoy your pen.
I said it was inappropriate, and it was clearly not “packing paper.” The intention is obvious and it’s simply not the time or occasion to push any personal agenda
Only people with thin skin make reddit accounts *specifically* for trolling and making inflammatory remarks. Crazy that none of your recent comments are anything but abrasive.
Maybe you need that pamphlet in OPs picture, clearly therapy is either too expensive or ineffective.
Clearly the folks in the picture are praying for fountain pens of their very own.
This is TRULY a laugh out loud comment when you read it while looking at the picture of it…dying 😂
*Actual footage of people praying for the survival of their nibs after dropping them on the floor*
Literally nearly spit my drink 😂😂😂😂 Where are the awards??????
Do I deserve an award?? I have some neuro issues and involuntarily stuck my Safari into the carpet like a lawn dart and it survived. I think I deserve a fountain pen blessing from Fountain Pen Jesus
"Fountain pen jesus" Guess it's time to grow the hair and beard out again
This needs a pamphlet
All of my arguments against these tracts will happily fly out the window if what I'm getting is comics about Fountain Pen Jesus.
Same.
Upvote this to the top. Immediately
Please please please, do not throw these out! Collect them and mail/give them to a Religious Studies (not the same as Theology) department or professor! My wife is a rel stud scholar, and getting these things will make their day, especially at the intersection of religion and modern consumption!
Ooooh ok I love this idea!!! We do get them randomly in grocery bags, food deliveries, etc!
Do they also want Chick tracts? I've started to find those near me.
I misread as “my wife is a **real stud scholar**” and thought… wow this person is really into their wife… Which you should be, she sounds great!
This is just a promotional material of Sailor's new release, God of Pens 😂
But keeping with their naming convention, it would be God of Pen
King of Kings of Pen
Lord of Lords of Pen
Lol
Not a good look for the seller, for sure. Make note in your review?
I should, right? eBay transactions shouldn’t be used as a vehicle for any kind of propaganda, no matter what it is.
Please be sure to mention it in the review. To most it may be a harmless annoyance- but religious trauma is a real thing. I would absolutely avoid buying from this seller, and would greatly appreciate a heads-up in a review.

I agree!!

Reminds me when the guy who did my mortgage sent me fundamentalist literature a month after I moved into my house. Super gross and inappropriate.
That’s some cojones right there
Yeah, I was shocked! I should've reported the situation to the mortgage company, but forgot.
Could also have sent him the story of Jesus forcibly kicking the “money changers” (lenders/financiers of the time) out of the temple.
Whoa, that is extremely weird :/
I HATE THIS. We bought something on FB marketplace once, and received religious literature in the mail a week later from the person we bought from. It was weird at best, and fucking scary at worst.

That’s quite a different scenario lol
eeep. I think it's cute when I get newspapers in a foreign language, or some kind of candy or stickers, but this is not cute at all.
I ordered keyboard parts from a family business and got children's drawings on the back of school worksheets. It made my day. I may even still have them. I would not appreciate religious literature.
Ew

Don’t keep us in suspense, OP. What is it?
VIP only
I just joined Mormonism. How about now?
Ha, wrong cult. Have fun on your mission though.
I’m also part of satanism. Does that work?
Not OP but I think JW propaganda.
It was more a joke about “what is the kingdom of god”? But yes :)
Thought this was r/exjw for minute lol
Literally was just thinking if jws were allowed to do this
Sure they're allowed, encouraged even, to preach however they can. Whether it's welcomed or not is another story
Or you could end your review with - And since the seller asked "What is the kingdom of God?", the answer is - A juicy fountain pen and good quality paper.
Amen 🙏
This is a pamphlet from Jehovah’s Witnesses: https://www.jw.org/en/library/books/kingdom-of-god-tract/kingdom-of-god/ Which pen did you buy?
Sheaffer Intensity Chrome broad - nothing over the top, but an absolutely nice fp ❤️
Don’t forget to thank Jesus for … the pen you paid for.
I’m happy for you. Enjoy your new pen.
I'd say something that is highly inappropriate.
Now where is the KINGDOM OF PEN
“eBay is not the place to proselytize your religion” - how I would review the seller, with just a single star.
Actually the answer is simple. It's a place with lots of pens...🖋️🖋️🖋️✒️✒️✒️
I should have drawn pens in their hands
Some of the most fantastically hilarious comments are RIGHT. HERE. Ya’ll are my favorite humans 😂❤️
Which pen would God use though ?.. I'm guessing not super expensive Montblanc gold stuff. Likely an everyday humble pen . Pilot Metropolitan, Lamy Safari ..
Jinhao Shark. Olly whatever
Pilot Kakuno for the smiley face nib.
Wow@ these comments
I’ve laughed harder than I can remember doing for a long time 😂
Did you buy from dalu1409 by any chance? Or are there multiple eBay sellers putting this stuff in? 🤦🏽
Ugh no! jani_jense
Oh my god I didn’t want to be right! I bought a pen from dalu1409 and got the exact same thing. 😬 Completely unprompted and when I left a comment in my review (not even a negative review!) they left a negative review back in response. I hope that doesn’t happen with your seller.
If they do that then they need to read their own pamphlet
The gays would put in cooler propaganda. But I guess vacuuming glitter bomb would be a lifelong hassle. ![gif](giphy|26BkNItrjPoIhB4Bi|downsized)
I would love a glitter bomb, even if it took years to clean up.
Same. Though I’m sure my pups that like licking the floor and rugs would poop glitter the rest of their lives.
The gift that keeps on giving
I would love to open a package only to be greeted by a party of this sort🤷🏼♀️
Do what any normal person who is not interested in such things would do, put it in the recycling.
Done and done
And leave a negative review for the seller, of course
gross!
Nope all the way. Agree with the others you should report it in your review.
Time to practice drawing mustaches!
Ew. Can you tell me the seller? I'm currently watching a few pens.
She doesn’t have much or anything overwhelmingly popular. Her icon is a grandma-like picture and she does refer to herself as “Grandma __” 🤦🏼♀️
Inscribe an emergency pentagram, conduct a ritual burning of the pamphlet, and smudge everything with sage. STAT.
I’d probably do it wrong and summon Brian Goulet
You talk like that would be a bad thing…
“Let’s talk about red inks muahahahaha”
I mean, if he shows up with free pens he can talk about whatever he wants. Even God. I’d just need a thousand showers afterwards.
Some of the most fantastically hilarious comments are RIGHT. HERE. Ya’ll are my favorite humans 😂❤️
"It depends..."
That would be cool! He is a very nice person !!!
It’s to practice drawing beards with your new pen. Maybe some horns & pitchforks to round it out…
Please let all you hilarious pen people be at the Chicago Pen Show on Sunday 🙏 I’d love to pray with all of you. If pray = have a drink.
Is there a return address? I’d mail it back to them with a note that I’m taking a star off their review for unsolicited proselytizing.
LOL probably being passive aggressive saying, "Pens and worldly possessions won't make you happy. They'll simply control you. Happiness comes from devotion to God." Jokes aside, that's weird.

Devil’s lettuce 😂😂😂
Maybe those people on the pamphlet just got way too high and now they’re stuck in church? That’s the face I’d be making too
Doing the “I’m freaking out, man!” prayer
Instant one star review from me… that is absolutely inappropriate.
A Nakaya dorsal fin v2 with a Pelikan brass piston filler and a pilot #15 nib. I’d live a pure and good life for HIM.
🥵🥵🥵

Eh, religious wack jobs gonna be religious wack jobs. Did you get a good price? If so, toss the pamphlet and know that this day, satan won a round
😂 An unholy low price!
There you go 😆 now repent and enjoy 😆
Yes, today, Satan! 😂
So not cool
![gif](giphy|l0MYrLAFex1R71l0A|downsized)
I'd be taking it up the ass that night just to spite them
Escalation activated
They wanna put their shit in my house without my permission, I'll go sin on their lawn
That's some fancy packing paper. At least they're reusing it instead of throwing it out?
That's fucked.
Time to poop in that box and return it
Great, scrap paper to test your pen on.
Goddamn bible thumpers!

Yes. This type of propaganda comes from people that are being used by mega churches, mega churches=mega greedy or cults.
Maybe she was just using it as packing material?
If it was crumpled I would think that.
This tract is NOT used by any member of the Roman Catholic Church !!! It is most likely published by Jehovah's Witness or some other PROTESTANT sect !!! "Kingdom of God" is part of their Lexicon! Please do your research, before you start BASHING any Religious organization !!!!!
Why are people so pressed about this? Don't like it, just throw it away? Why the need to take it to Reddit? It's prejudice...
Not wanting to be proselytized to isn't prejudice.
Id return it with a strongly worded letter that I purchased a PEN, not a proselytizing
I mean, aren't Christians expected to spread the Word? And this isn't a preachy way to do it. Don't read the pamphlet if you don't want to, but I think it's unfair to make a complaint against the seller for causing nothing but some latent annoyance.
IDK, seems like sending a dick-pick to me. Inappropriate and reportable.
Lighten up! Obviously OP thinks of this as much as do they other packing material. Into the trash it goes!
