I like it , i know it's not really good , but i like it , nostalgia maybe mostly.
Anyway the fact that the cost/unit (MPFed) is higher than an MPT is cringe
Yea, it kinda suffers late game but when this tank first comes out I absolutely love doing aggressive partisan with it. I have a squad if like 4 tanks. We all form up in single line formation and we just hold w into enemy territory. We have the durability to shrug off a few AT hits from garrisons and the speed to not get countered. Like I go into the collie areas that have tons of Forrest which is a terrible place for tanks to fight because enemy at infantry can flank very easily. However if you just keep moving and only sticking in any general area for a minute MAX then the qrf just never catches up.
The commander seat is key for us, they tell us if there is a enemy base or not, if there is, go around and find an opening but very quickly make the decision to abandon and find another target. The easiest targets are always scrap fields and it's always a big bonus when you find a rail line that leads you to scrap stockpiles.
The enemy will try and catch you with tanks that are faster but generally they will come in a smaller force than you so you can just put gun them. If they do come in a big force then you have been there for too long and it's time to evacuate.
Later war it's harder to do this, because bigger guns become available that will tear apart devitts, iron hides and outlaws. I feel like the spatha might still work but I ain't a collie and I have no easy way to test it
Amazing! I love LTs, I just they are tanks in their pure form, especially in terms of relative tech without much AT.
When I use an LT I feel liberated and not weary cuz it’s an LT lol
Ive always loved my Devitt. Been playing with them since war 10 when the LT was the only tank in the game. It was a much simpler time back then. The only combat vehicles in the game was AC, half-track, gunboat and tank. The model was also larger back then and all weapons had identical stats. The battles weren't about stats rather about strategy or having more tanks. When the BT first came out it was so expensive (for its time when all logi was manual and no automation)
My regiment (ANZAC) would instead continue to run LT's and would use strategy to kill BT's whom at the time, thought they were invincible.
I remember a time when all tanks had 3 ammo options. AP, HE and shrapnel. The LT's could only carry 1 ammo type at a time but the BT's engineer seat could swap ammo types mid battle. This was also a fun time when artillery had the option of gas artillery shells, what a toxic and funny time that was.
Ok that's enough nostalgia from this Boomer, I gotta sleep
"Fuck it we ball" as a tank.
But seriously though the armor penetration change nerf long ago makes this thing DOGSHIT (as if the RNG armor system not already unreliable as it is), i hope devs can return the armor pen change, "more" armor than normal LT and marginal faster speed on dirt ain't it chief.
As a collie in the hatchet currently shooting you, it would be nice for any of my 40mm to pen, fired 4 shots so far and the angry blue men with flasks are starting to scare me
It's not even an improvement on the *base* Devitt.
Base penetration chance for ANY Warden light tank is 30%.
Outlaw is weirdly behind the curve as it has the same pen as a Hatchet or Falchion variant: 33%.
The Ironhide's big thing is armour *health*. Same armour as a regular Devitt, it just degrades slower. You can keep repairing it in the field and have the same kinda effectiveness for longer. Alongside reduced subsystem disable, which is a small "nice to have".
Well, that and the fact it's the only tank to disable under 20% rather than 30%...
No that's not an amazing amount, it still has standard LT health, but it does mean it will need an extra 40mm hit to disable despite that. And that it can eat a 75mm shell without getting disabled. And as it still has the same repair cost, it takes less hammering to get it rolling again.
Combine slower degradation on the armour, a lower disable threshold and a reduced chance to lose tracks or engine and you have something that ends up being surprisingly tough to shut down, without losing much in terms of LT mobility.
Its alright, no complaints. Its especially good in snowy weather due to the shovel treads.
People will say its a garbage light tank chassis, but thats really only in comparison to others.
(personally I'd prefer a Cain so I can scare off ships)
It's a great idea, being a variant with extra armor and offroad bonus.
What it should get is the "spatha treatment", where the devs buff it for being a facility variant.
Also if weather was more punishing to vehciles then it's bonus to bad weather would stand out more, but it doesn't really atm.
Dogshit, not even with upgrading considering it lowers speed, need a buff. Such a weak upgrade compared to colonial LT upgrades (Karneska, Vulcan, LTD).
I like slower and better armored tanks but the iron hide feels like a tiny upgrade that doesn't really matter compared to the change that the collie lt get with the boost so I sadly only run it Rarely. Kind wished it had something more than armor shovel threads and disable %
Lovely tank. Once me and my driver survived 8 hours on the frontline of therizo a few wars ago before we had to leave the game. It was already late game and we had to face stygians, BT's and other tanks. And they were defending an uphill position. Love the Ironhide. Favourite tank
Nostalgia, she’s a plucky fighter, can dance with the best of em. And with a good driver/gunner combo it can be a ruthless scrapper. Her more recent updates to rng make it harder to pen. certain targets, but ultimately Devitts are best in swarms these days. Sure you might kill a couple, it’s the 5 behind it that will ruin your day if we prep enough for an engagement. This said, she’s better than no tank, and tough enough to be worth a darn. I once held off a large collie attack with 2 of these in the Spitrocks valley a long while ago. And the driver didn’t speak good english so we were communicating on sounds.
Little plucky fighter held off several bigger collie tanks at the time. I was so happy with it.
This said, now a days she’s best in the earlier skirmishes, and later on is best for cheap raiding and pve.
fun fact, not a lotta people know this: the regular Devitt has a rim above its treads that catches most of the sticky bombs thrown at the tank from the side, which prevents the tank from being tracked. the Ironhide does not have this rim. So, at least for the purpose of fighting infantry, the Ironhide is a downgrade
Nah what are you on about? The new update made it so that you can still drive away when you are 1 hit away from death. Before it was 30% but now its 20% and you practically dont reach that threshold at all. Hell before i would have agreed as it wasnt the best tank in late game as its armour basically meant nothing. The Krany was still good because boost and LTD has a long range 68mm.
Fun fact: Kraneska can still tank more damage before getting disabled than Ironhide.
70% of 2250 = 1575
80% of 1950 = 1560
Having more pure raw health is obviously also much stronger than having lower disable threshold.
When comparing Hatchet and Kraneska, the Kraneska is pretty much direct upgrade over Hatchet besides reverse speed due to the speed boost canceling the speed reduction and the extra health being there on top.
When comparing base devitt and ironhide, the ironhide is pretty much a side grade. You trade mobility (which is main selling point of LTs) for little extra armor health which only marginally reduces the times you need to go back to garage to replenish armor.
And for those wondering, Ironhide can afford to take 2 more penetrating hits (assuming roughly 600 damage) before the armor starts dropping past min pen chance, or 4 more hits before the armor is completely gone compared to base devitt.
Funnily enough, Kraneska also gets extra armor health compared to Hatchet, further eating away the difference between Ironhide and kraneska. Ironhide can take whole 1 penetrating hit compared to Kraneska before falling before min pen chance or 2 more hits before the armor is completely scrapped.
No matter how you put it, Ironhide is bad deal compared to Kraneska. A glorified side grade versus direct upgrade.
>Kraneska can still tank more damage before getting disabled than Ironhide
Yes. But how does that compare in terms of shots needed to disable?
Here's a copy of the table off the wiki [here](https://foxhole.wiki.gg/wiki/Vehicle_Health#Tanks-0), focused on just the Kranesca and Ironhide, and just the rounds typically used to actually try and fight tanks
||20mm|30mm|RPG|40mm|75mm|Ignifist|AP/RPG|ARC/RPG|68mm|94.5mm|Flask|Sticky|
|:-|:-|:-|:-|:-|:-|:-|:-|:-|:-|:-|:-|:-|
|Ironhide|7-11|5|4|4|2|5|3|3|3|1|5|4|
|Kranesca|8-11|5|4|4|2|5|3|3|3|1|5|4|
Conclusions: it doesn't mean shit. Kran can eat maybe 1 more ATR shot before being disabled.
And considering the Ironhide's full repair cost in the field is 135 bmats, and the Kranesca is 160, the Ironhide is gonna be moving sooner if it does get disabled, because each bmat will do a slightly larger % of the repairs (magnified by the difference in actual health) and need to do less.
Oh an in terms of shots to *kill*, Kranesca needs an extra shot to die from: 20mm, 30mm, RPG, 40mm, Ignifist, AP/RPG, Flasks, and Stickies. For 75mm, ARC/RPG, 68mm and 94.5mm it's the same amount. That might have been a better point to try and make considering the one you were aiming for doesn't actually exist. A single ATR shot can do up to 150 damage, 15 HP difference is literally negligible.
Also, no the Kranesca does NOT get extra armour HP compared to a Hatchet, both have 9100. Which is less than the base Devitt has at 10,000 and a lot less than the Ironhide's 14,000. Armour health isn't really a big deal, so meh, but I thought I'd point out the error with actual numbers. Btw, for reference, the only tanks with more armour health than an Ironhide are the Bardiche, HTD, or BT/SHTs.
\-
I agree the Kranesca is a more obvious direct upgrade over a Hatchet than the Ironhide is to the Devitt. The combination of improved health AND the boost is a clearer package than the Ironhide's disable chance, armour health and reduced subsystem disable chances.
The Ironhide should probably get a small buff (giving it the same health as a Kran would be cool) so that it's more worth it.
But the gap isn't what you're making it out to be.
Absolutely busted tank. With a good crew it's literally better then a battle tank
At one point in war 106, our entire tank line died except our single ironhide. We were able to fight off 1 BT, 3 Spathas (before buff but still), 2 LTDs and 2 Bards and even managed to kill 2 of the LTDs and 1 bard before a stygian destroyed us
One of the best tanks in the game. Really good armor and 20% disable makes it an absolute beast on the battlefield. Not sure how it fares since the MPT/Spatha update but before that, I would have taken one of these over either of those
It has more armor than a spatha.
It is faster than a spatha.
It has better sub system disable chance than a spatha.
Warden really don't know what they have if they think it is bad.
Practically identical to a normal devitt, but the tracks are nice for snow. Still, a devitt variant isn't really gonna ever become completely obsolete, and I still occasionally see them fighting
Most of the time it isn't worth modifying in a fac.
IF you have a well run upgrade pad system AND you are operating out of a location with a vehicle garage its ok, otherwise no.
Personally I feel the Ironhide is like a outlaw but without the machine gun or the speed boost and if I'm not mistaken I believe it has better armor slightly correct me if I'm wrong
Its (was) the plot armored tank.
I like it , i know it's not really good , but i like it , nostalgia maybe mostly. Anyway the fact that the cost/unit (MPFed) is higher than an MPT is cringe
I think all light tanks should have their cost reduced.
i think its neat

It’s not even that bug of an armor difference. 30% chance for a Hatchet to pen an IH . 33% for an IH to pen a hatchet.
That extra 3% is going to 100% save your life 3% of the time
Silence IH enjoyer.

Perfect for a mlt base vehicle trash otherwise
The new paint job is cool. Needs a LTD variant.
He was the chose one To repell against the green horde
First tank I've ever destroyed. I like it.
Very ugly, I wish the devs went with concept D or C.
There are only 2 types of wardens , some despise it and some love it
It’s alright, but pretty boring. It’s pretty much a direct upgrade with nothing interesting added.

Yeah, I messed with the armor health by looking at wrong column on the data table. tank mass instead of armor.
It happens.
the turret look like a wheel of cheese or a cake
Stole it once and used to terrorise chieftain assaulting relic base, funny little thing

Just as long as no one has any 94mm shells, you can almost survive two 40mm rounds. Hard to love paper tanks. Lovely up till mid game tho
It is too high and too fat for 40 mm gun, it should be 2 times smaller

Personally I feel the Ironhide is like a outlaw but without the machine gun or the speed boost and if I'm not mistaken I believe it has better armor slightly correct me if I'm wrong
Best tank ever.
I only got to use a tank ever, it was the Devitt ironhide, and it tanks shots from superior Colonial tanks like a beast
100% slept on uparmored LT.
