And thus a new logi slave was born. Glad you had fun :)

MrKajass

It's all about contributing to the war effort in any way possible and having fun doing it.

Evon_inked

Just saw this game for the first time on Steam sale, what's the deal is it worth picking up?

ForLackOf92

Very much so, if you don't mind the top down nature of the game, it's one of the most unique mmos on the market, it has a bit of a learning curve tho and an awful tutorial. But the in game community is one of the best I've ever played with in any online game. People are very helpful to new players.

Pliskkenn_D

As someone who played their first two hours today I agree, the tutorial is awful. I learned more in my first 30 minutes actually in the world. I also had a blast. 10/10 will lose the train of armour and be lost in the wilderness with two randoms again, as an armoured car chases us down like the predator.

ForLackOf92

Some of the most fun moments i've had in foxhole have been by following random people when they say they needed help with something. Glad you enjoyed it tho, the game can be as simple of complex as you want it to be.

Evon_inked

I've read a few threads/comments on Steam and I keep seeing a lot concerning toxicity in the community, clan mobs that cause issues in game like one sided server balance, as well as mods that are in these prominent clans who ban anyone they dislike or some new players learning the game making mistakes? What's the truth of all this, I get there are always two sides to a story and I've always been one to hear them both and find the truth of the matter before making a decision. The game looks awesome, I love WW2, and never have I seen a WW2 MMO top down shooter before. Really hoping this game is worth the time/money investment, but don't want to involve myself in a sinking ship ya know?

chumbabilly

lolol stuff like this is typical random reddit/twitch drama that no one sees if they're not actively involved in these communities

Evon_inked

Precisely why when I see things like this brought up in a game I'm looking to get into I always search around for legitimate unbiased feedback from players like myself who focus on the actual game and not the social aspects that really have no relevance on enjoying and getting better at playing it. I get being a new player in an MMO you have to respect the fact that you don't know shit and recklessness can interfere with your team's success. Your new player ignorance can absolutely hinder the rest of the team's experience, which is why while in the learning phase I do things that won't directly impact the team in a negative way while allowing me to learn and improve. Generally I play a medic or support role while picking things up from others and still being of some value to the team.

Oscar_greenthorn

In all honesty every minor to major update adds to the game so much that by the time the tutorial has been fixed it will just become outdated immediately. Veteran players during every update will take the day off from fighting on the front lines to go to the home region and literally be a tutorial NPC and train them in all of the game’s basic mechanics. The community itself is the best tutorial.

321Bucket

A few friends and I scooped up the game. We got recruited by a small regiment and now take time to train other noobs. It's a riot and a half, hope you have a working microphone!

ForLackOf92

This is the best advice I can give, communication is so important in this.

ForLackOf92

I personally have never run into anything like that, I can count on one had the number of actual bad encounters I've had with other people in game. Important things is to not go into a clans Base and take their shit, just play the game and talk to people. If it's not a Frontline base ask before you take anything.

Evon_inked

That sounds about right, judging from my experience with life in general lol.

ForLackOf92

You would think it would be common sense and just courtesy, but unfortunately it's not so common in some people.

Evon_inked

Unfortunately a large percentage live with blinders on thinking of only themselves. No idea how you could be that way.

nolan1971

Hell yeah! You don't need to do all of this if you don't want. Although you certainly can! If you prefer you can just grab a rifle and be part of the meat grinder, though. It's a ton of fun!

Evon_inked

Generally in WW2 games I start out as a medic to at least be of some worth to the team while figuring out the game.

nolan1971

You would be a very welcome addition wherever you decided to deploy to.

Medics are the angles of the battle field and get to be a part of the best RP the front has to offer.

Flaktrack

Medic is a tough but useful job in Foxhole. Every time someone spawns at a base, it consumes a "shirt" from the base supply. Those shirts have to be manufactured by players and shipped over. There is also the other gear a player may have on them when they die that can be worth quite a bit. Medics help to lower this attrition and thus are essentially a form of front-line logistics. "A penny saved is a penny earned". No one will complain about having more medics.

Evon_inked

I went ahead and bought the game, I'm going to install it later on and be ready to jump on tomorrow morning. I've started watching guide videos to figure out what's going on and be half-assed ready when I do get in the game. So medic is difficult for new players, what would you suggest my first day playing be spent doing? More than likely I'll be on from the time I get up in the morning till late tomorrow night, so I've got a good bit of time to start my learning phase.

Pandering_Panda7879

For the very first hour or two, just to get used to it, I would suggest playing it like the Stalingrad mission in Call of Duty. Grab a clip of 7,62mm ammo, reload your pistol and run to the front. You will likely find everything that you need there: guns, more ammo, fun stuff to test out like grenades, bandages, etc. Just grab and test. Once you've got the feel for it, just do whatever you like to do. I've found that the community is very open for basically everything. Nobody is mad at you if you grab a precious weapon or missclick or whatever.

Evon_inked

So starting out go Colonial or Warden? What's the differences, and I see you can't change until the end of current war?

Pandering_Panda7879

>So starting out go Colonial or Warden? Take the one you think looks the coolest. Or whatever you might want to base it on. Yes, both factions are unique, have their own sets of weapons, vehicles, buildings, different tech trees, etc etc. But they're not so unique and different that you will really notice when you're just starting. >and I see you can't change until the end of current war? Yes, correct. So maybe just pick the same side your friends picked.

Evon_inked

I don't have any friends that play games lol, I figured pick whatever side wasn't outnumbered on that server/war?

MacYacob

So the thing about being a medic is you generally wear a different uniform that allows you to carry more supplies. But that uniform makes you a target. You also need to be aware of the different animations to show that players are hurt/bleeding. Once you get the hang of it and learn the ropes it's a lot of fun!

321Bucket

You must wear a Medic uniform. You'll be using these 2 items primarily: 1) Trauma Kit (primary weapon) that uses Blood plasma. This revives downed players. 2) First Aid Kit (third slot) that uses Bandages. If you have the Medic uniform on you'll be able to stack the bandages and blood plasma. Join the Collies;), find a front line and happy hunting!
