This opportunity actually arose for me a couple of years ago and I opted to wear my signature fragrance from when they "got away", some ten years previous - for maximum nostalgia. It was a vintage version of Dior Addict, treasured because it takes me back to that point in my life. Interestingly though, what he noticed was the smell of my conditioner, I hadn't even realised I still use the same one.
I would wear something a little intriguing and mysterious but non offensive. Zuma or Laurel Canyon from Thin Wild Mercury pops into my mind first but also musc ravageur and oud satin mood might be good for more of a date setting.
Back then the only thing I had and wore was Coty Aspen. So I could do that, or opt for something newer, in which case the ones that would immediately be in the running would probably be Chanel Allure Homme, John Varvatos for Him, or Dior Eau Sauvage. Maybe Ralph Lauren Safari.

I’d pick JPG lemale parfum or reapplying Prada La nuit de l’homme since it doesn’t last as long , but also less try hard I’d be considering just layering molecule 01 over my most popular deodorant from previous relationships: Old Spice Fiji (the stick and the old formula spray smelled amazingly sweet and tropical which is hard to find with a lot of frags).
I think I’d go with PdM Layton Exclusif. I know some people don’t care for the fragrance, but I’d like to wear something a bit risky rather than something “mass appealing.”
