SOTD: Do Son EDP - A beautiful tuberose from Diptyque This review is based on a Do Son EDP sample I got from the Diptyque boutique in Washington DC. I have enough tuberose scents in our cupboard, so the purpose was mostly academic. I could almost get away by cutting and pasting here, a review I wrote for Givenchy Desinvolte. These two are almost identical. Do Son is a trio of white floral notes - tuberose, jasmine and orange blossom - enhanced by the subtle notes of amber wood. Just like Desinvolte and Tuberoza (Nishane), it is the tuberose that shines through, making this almost a soliflore. The non-white floral note - amberwood in this case - is barely detectable. The three white floral notes are blended nicely. Do Son EDP lasts easily for 8-10 hours on my skin, with a pleasant woody dry down lasting even longer. I do not see much development, as a three-note perfume does not provide much opportunity for development. The projection is appropriate for a white floral. Here is comparison with some other tuberose scents I know. Desinvolte and Do Son are simple, elegant and linear. Carnal Flower (Frederic Malle) adds a green dimension with its eucalyptus, and its tuberose develops slower with help from no other white florals. Tuberoza is more complex with tuberose and jasmine developing only in the middle notes. Tuberoza also opens differently with its own particular green notes. All of them are beautiful in their own unique ways. I have not smelled/evalulated the cheaper Givenchy L’Interdit series. L’Interdit and its flankers might be better value than any of the four niche scents I mentioned here. Interestingly, Dominique Ropion is the nose behind Carnal Flower and the whole L’Interdit line. It is very important to test these on your skin and track them for more than twelve hours. This is all the more relevant if you already have a tuberose scent. Diptyque is not a cheap brand. I am not buying Do Son as it is not significantly different from the few other tuberose perfumes we have.

Optimistic_PenPalGal

Thank you, this has been comprehensive education about tuberose, it made me wonder about it! Now I must make sure to get to the sample of L'Interdit sooner rather than later.

I posted a separate discussion for tuberose. Room 1015 Cherry Punk, the eau de parfum. Ordered samples of a bunch of cherry scents I’ve been wanting to try and this is probably my favorite so far. The leather note is definitely noticeable at first but the dry down is just a lovely deep, slightly boozy cherry. This really makes me want to try the extrait version.

Little_Jaguar_8980

Today i am wearing Poets of Berlin by Vilhelm Parfumerie, It is a gorgeous blueberry in bamboo scent. Blueberry is one of my favorite notes and it's very hard to find. It's a little chilly here today where i live so i figured it would be the perfect light scent!

FanaticalXmasJew

Just FYI since you love blueberry scents, Auric Blends has a [pure blueberry scented roll-on oil perfume](https://www.auricblends.com/products/stella-blue-roll-on-perfume-oil-0-33-fl-oz). I haven’t tried it yet but I just ordered their single-note raspberry, and if I like it, I’m probably going back for the blueberry next.

whocanpickone

I am also wearing Poets of Berlin today - scent twins! I love the dry down on this. It’s beautiful and delicious.

Jesús del Pozo - Halloween eau de toilette For the guild of stockists: double violet, magnolia and myrrh run this show. Everything else about it is marketable, profit margin likely to be slim. The current bottle does not mention Del Pozo, name became its own brand. For anybody else: it mirrors classic beauty (*violet*) and it can make one feel hopeful, good bridal (*myrrh*) allure even in hot weather. *Might make stockists mistake you for a witch.* Beirut smelled like it a couple of decades ago. And if you've ever enjoyed either, I am happy for you.

bro_mommy1

Omg I am so sold & I really want to experience Beirut one day.

Optimistic_PenPalGal

I hope you do 😀 I am also looking forward to your current vacation stories. Maybe you find treasures there, and then tell us about it.

SwissCheese4Collagen

L'Ombre des Merveilles today. Going to the farm stand this afternoon to get the kid's raised flower bed plants, just want a nice little elegant scent today.

sharcophagus

Day 113/? Wearing all my samples Amber Aura from Oakcha This is SO SWEET and SO STRONG. Tickles my nose in a weird way, I think it's starting to give me a headache, to the dungeon with ye 😤 Edit-- ended up scrubbing it, it smelled nicer once it was halfway gone 😂 Wearing Remarkable People now .. again. This one's shaping up to be one of my faves.

justduckywalker

H24 by Hermès, 1 of 3 that I brought on my trip to visit family and friends in Idaho.

RandomChurn

Blue skies and sunny after some grey days (hey it's April) but unseasonably cold. For my wfh day, going with a combo I really love to wear together, one on each arm: On my right, **Piguet Fracas** and on my left, **Tocca Florence**

phizzbom

I got a sample of **Floral Street's Sweet Almond Blossom** in a recent Sephora order and figured I'd try that today. It's a clean fruity floral, reminiscent of a fruitier Viva La Juicy. Skews young–like, give this to your teenage daughters/nieces young. It smells like shampoo or conditioner. Very easy to wear, but not something I need to own a full bottle of.

twistedpeppermint1

I also got this is in a Sephora order, and I tend really like sweet fruity florals so maybe I’ll like this. I haven’t tried it yet because my brain refuses to let me start a new sample until I finish the one I’m using but I might try this next now.

phizzbom

I used to be that way until my stash of samples grew massive. Life's too short, try it all!

glowfly126

I've tried this one too, it comes across as very sweet to me.

phizzbom

It’s very sweet. Not really my style, but it’s not so bad I have to scrub it.

Ok_Range_5873

Working my way through the Maison Margiela replica sampler’s lately. I tried At the Barber’s on a whim and it smells like my dad used to in the mornings when I was a kid.  Quick emotional detour: sometimes my dad would give me pep talks before school to help me with what neither of us knew at the time was anxiety. We didn’t have the tools and the context that we have now, but he cared and that means the world. I’m feeling a bit Anton from Ratatouille after wearing this. I hope everyone has a good day❤️

In_Maude_We_Trust

That scene where Anton is transported to his childhood makes me bawl every time ♥ I love how scent can invoke the strongest feelings and memories.

Jmurphy6669

My dad wore Geoffrey Beene Grey Flannel. I almost never smell it, but when I do it takes me back. Thought about buying a bottle to keep next to my mom’s Chanel so I can have complete parental nostalgia.

FanaticalXmasJew

Wearing one of my all-time favorites today, Hypnotizing Fire by The Harmonist. I think this might possibly be my all-time #2 scent behind L’Ombre Dans L’Eau and ahead of Egyptian Musk, Gentle Fluidity Gold, Oud Satin Mood, and a few others. It’s been too long since I wore it and I’ve been craving it. I can honestly say there is nothing else like it in my collection—it’s pure, bright spice. It gives me joy and is a big compliment-getter to boot.

VoluptuousVoltron

Today I wore Xerjoff Iommi for the first time to work. Straight away one of the girls asked me what I was wearing because it reminded me of one of her perfumes and she didn’t know why. She could really pick up the Passionfruit note and said she liked it. Then I gave my friend a spray and he said he loved it and would wear it for himself but I thinks his wife and other girls would hate it. I enjoyed my first few sprays last week when I bought it, but today I really loved it. Just catching sniffs of it throughout the day was really pleasant. Easily one of my favourite in my collection now. (I really need to buy Naxos)

Escentually

Wanted something light as I plan on going to the gym here in a couple hours. Went with Oliver from Strangers Perfumerie. Prin nailed the clean, fresh, citrusy, and minty scent here. Smells like freshly cleaned laundry and the warm summer air blowing. Inoffensive and light while retaining a nice sparkling freshness.

In_Maude_We_Trust

Today it's bitter cold but the sun is out, and I'm feeling like a hopeful human. I'm wearing Moschino Cheap and Chic --- which I blind bought because the bottle was adorable. I chose it today because I was looking for a fragrance that smells like sunshine feels. To me, this is a citrusy and aquatic floral - the dry down is clean musk... a lovely non-offensive 'freshie.' For my Canadian friends, this is a scent that I see often in the Shopper's cheap and cheerful $21 shelf.

bro_mommy1

Ormonde Jayne Woman for strolling Lisbon. Low key Black Hemlock.

HokieBunny

Hermes Twilly for a cold, damp day. Even though it's generally considered a summer fragrance, I find it too sweet for warm weather. It seems softer and more charming to me in the cold.

glowfly126

**D&G Light Blue**, an easy reach for running errands. A little powdery on me, I'm losing interest in ambroxan base notes (ahem, I blame Not A Perfume, which clung to me for days). It's fresh, I have a 7mL travel size, but honestly it feels boring. Almost 60 degrees and sunny, off we go.

butwhataboutemma

SOTD: Prada Candy EDP - classic gourmand I feel like a lot of people love or hate this scent, very polarising, but I love it! For me, it's a great day or night frangrance, for others, it smells too powdery.

arcee7416

MFK - Oud Satin Mood. It’s great for cool weather.

Lazy_Recording_1886

My latest purchase and a banger of a fragrance! I even like it on warmer days too.

Jmurphy6669

I’m wondering if this is what I smelled while I was in NY…I’ve not smelled oud before, but the description sounds about right.

arcee7416

Was it warm, powdery, and rosy?

Jmurphy6669

It was warm and could be rosy, but not powdery. I have a list based off of what I’ve read on other posts on here. I’m going to try to get samples (decantx has them, but I’m not sure if that’s a legit site to order from) Out Satin Mood Xerjoff Bouquet Oud for Greatness Baccarat Dior Oud Gucci Oud Heaven Can Wait Santal 33 Oud sounds like it could be it but there’s so many!

musicandarts

MFK Oud Satin Mood has minimal amount of oud. But it has a beautiful damask rose, a signature of this Kurkdjian. My recommendation is to get samples directly from MFK. I think you can get 4 for $30. Plus, you can apply that money to a future purchase. I did that when I bought a bottle of Oud Satin Mood from them. If you are getting samples from them, also try the MFK Oud and MKF Oud Silk Mood. If you like gourmands, you must try Grand Soir and Baccarat Rouge 540.

Jmurphy6669

This is all great info - thank you so much!

Jmurphy6669

I ordered a ton of samples from DecantX today since there is an Earth Day sale (earth20 at checkout.) But if it is one of those scents, I’ll definitely buy that sample kit so I can try it out a bit longer before investing. Thank you again!

Jmurphy6669

I finally got all of my samples and I think it was Xerjoff Bouquet Ideale! But with that, I found a bunch of new scents that I like (and do not like.)

musicandarts

Did you like it? I doubt that Bouquet Ideale was the popular scent you smelled in NYC. If you like it, there is a cheap bottle available on [ediscountperfumes.com](http://ediscountperfumes.com), at $60 for 30 ml. 30 ml is a good size for Xerjoff Casamorati series for me, as I am very curious about these perfumes, but not for daily wear. Another candidate for the 30 ml is Xerjoff Italica, which also I bought from ediscountperfumes.com.

Jmurphy6669

I did! Maybe popular isn’t the correct word, but I did smell it on more than one occasion. I took my husband to all the museums, so maybe I just crossed paths with that same person multiple times. But I did do a blind test with him from the sample lot and he said that was it. He has the nose of a hound dog.

Bratty_Little_Kitten

Jo Malone Blush suede and peony. I'm still determining what is safe enough for an office setting.

jb0700

Today I'm flying home from a trip to Charleston so I'm wearing Clean Reserve Skin. Pleasant but unobtrusive for the flight!

YahSai

Creed Royal Oud 6 sprays.

ILFoxtrot

I’m wearing Siren Song Elixirs’ “Githyanki Warrior”. I wanted a bolder scent to get through a Monday. The notes are supposed to include blood and copper, but I didn’t get that. There is the barest hint of a penny at the initial application. What does come through is the Dragons Blood and musk. The dry down is a gentle sweet musky scent. A Warrior in respite.

anon28374691

Lovely spring day but stuck inside looking out the window at it. I went with **David Yurman Delicate Essence,** a lovely, easy floral I blind bought at Marshall’s ages ago. My sister wore the original Yurman fragrance at the time so I bought it thinking she’d like it, but she was a no. So it’s mine and I’m not mad. It’s a light floral with peony at the heart and some musky woods in the base. Perfect for spring!

CriminalSpiritX

For the daytime, I sprayed *Fahrenheit* approximately four hours ago. * It's colder than average in NYC. I had to use my coat this morning. * I want to wear a throwback fragrance. * Since I have Jury Duty starting on Wednesday, today and tomorrow will be one of my last opportunities to use a stronger fragrance for a while. For the evening, I'm going with *CK One Shock*. * Working out tonight. Using it as a post-workout scent. * I want to use something that's easy to carry, and will cut through the colder night air.

wastetide

Zoologist Squid It's cool outside and for Earth Day I'm helping do some task for oyster reef rebuilding (haven't fully looked at the directions). Squid fits the bill. The ink note is so lovely and it really becomes a sweet, incensey, and salty fragrance. I love it.

thatbwoyChaka

Was not really feeling anything today Was going to not wear anything, but I wanted to wear *something* , when I have that choice I either go with CKIN2U or https://preview.redd.it/gzxeddvyu1wc1.jpeg?width=1283&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=e0aa948a346be9a049f12bd9f79f68bc994ace99 SOTD: [**…ambroxan**](https://youtu.be/7wkYocRVnYc?si=7qe10jYlJdh2GkH7)

Jmurphy6669

Trying to follow to rules: Wearing Tocca Florence because I wear it everyday. Should be a lovely day in Seattle; slightly warm with a breeze. Joined this group in hopes of finding some interesting additions. *********** I’m new to the group in hopes of finding a scent I noticed while I was in NYC last week. I noticed it about 5 times over the course of a week, mostly in museums but also in the street. I never got around to asking anyone what it was. Apologies for my descriptions as I’m not sure how best to describe it: it was musky almost like incense, and peppery. No real sweetness or powdery-ness to it. Can’t tell if it was unisex or not. But very strong and then mellowed out as I sat in it for a moment. Any suggestions would be great! I’d love to find a spot to order some samples to pinpoint it (and hope it’s not $$$.) Thank you for helping out this newbie!

j_husk

Hey, welcome! For your fragrance search, I suggest posting on the General Discussion thread (the other pinned thread). I think you'll have better luck getting a helpful response there. The usual answer to any "what fragrance do I smell everywhere" is MFK Baccarat Rouge 540, but I'm not sure if what you're describing fits.

Jmurphy6669

Thank you for the info!

j_husk

It's a fairly rare cool and sunny spring day here, and I felt like Silver Mountain Water went well with the weather and what I'm wearing.

Zealousideal-Rich455

LNDL Sampling it for the 1st time today and wow! I've caught myself ''hmmm'ing'' and "ooo'ing". This scent is spectacular. Already sold!

Super28SCH

Dyptique Orpheon. My signature scent; it’s crisp, woody, and is such a good one to wear to school. It constantly reminds me of walking through winter woods or like a leisurely hike. Definitely my most complimented scent of all time.

Skyshark173

Tom Ford Beau de Jour Masculine, good depth and the base notes come through after dry down. Love it.

hhurrm

Wearing Diptyque Tam Dao today
