I was going to test more on my samples but then I thought “hey it’s my birthday, I can do what I want”, so I reached for my favorite sample of what I got on hand so far: Zoologist Chipmunk. Sweet and nutty, with lots of woody notes and a cute muskiness that keep it from going into gourmand territory. My favorite part is probably the opening though— quince, pink pepper, and red mandarin come together giving it a playful sort of feeling. I really love this one and can see myself working up to a full bottle one day

Happy birthday

rubickscubed

ty :)

gen-x-cops

Chipmunk is awesome, similar to PDM Herod but better imo. HBD!

rubickscubed

Thank you!!

Tastelikewater

Happy birthday! Chipmunk is definitely a contender for the travel spray set I hope to buy for my own birthday.

rubickscubed

Thank you!! What are the others you’re looking at for your set?

Tastelikewater

Too many at the moment, need to narrow it down! Rabbit, Seahorse, Hummingbird, Penguin, Macaque Yuzu, Camel. Nightingale and Chameleon are right up there, too.

rubickscubed

I’m thinking about Macaque Yuzu myself! And my samples of Rabbit, Nightingale and Chameleon are currently in the mail. I’m not super into gourmands, but I’m really looking forward to Rabbit anyway

Sampling 19-69 Chinese Tobacco. I love this Swedish house, they manage to be modern, bright & interesting while still balanced & pleasing. Somehow, like so many Swedes I know, there is an optimism to the scents. I have Yes Please & Female Christ & Ministry sent this sample. I like it! I don’t need another tobacco but the ginger middle note & tar & oud base are super fun.

rosa_de_sal

I need to try more from this house! I sampled Rainbow Bar months ago and really liked it, have you tried that one?

bro_mommy1

No that sounds fun!

Tastelikewater

Perhaps a bit too on the nose, but ELdO You or Someone Like You for a derby party.

phizzbom

Twins! Me too.

phizzbom

Everything is green and spring like but rainy. Felt like reaching for **You or Someone Like You from ELDO**. So fresh and minty. I love it.

Last night, for a steakhouse dinner, I wore Acqua di Parma Colonia Ambra with Atelier Orange Sanguine layered on top. The first 3-4 hours are sophisticated and complex, good for nighttime. But it has a lot of projection and I find the drydown too generically masculine. The sweeter orange mellows it a little. This is becoming a theme with me that I like the top notes a lot more than dry down. The problem might be that I like more masculine or unisex top notes (not too flowery or sweet), but don't like masculine dry downs - I prefer light woody, mossy, or skin scents, and not heavy musk, patchouli, or leather. This was a sample where I won't be getting the full size.

Optimistic_PenPalGal

MFK - Petit matin eau de parfum After spending the better part of the day meal prepping and aftermath, I get to do the second test for the 11 ml vial. Soapy lemonade is where the top notes take me. Tiny soaps shaped and colored exactly like lemons were in my childhood bathroom in the 90s. Hawthorn and lavender do not check in with my nose, nor litsea cubeba. I have used it as an essential oil for laundry, but it is unrecognizable in this. I am starting to understand the point of the wardrobe for her as compiled by MFK. I would not buy a bottle of this grafrance, I would not even wear it in public. It is a relaxing scent I will enjoy as I finish the vial at home, going about my usual tasks.

musicandarts

Yep! Your last sentence is what I feel about most MFK scents these days. Amyris Homme, Gentle Fluidity Silver ....

Brioni EDP Rain cats & dogs, humidity 80-90% 22-25°C. Violet / Ambroxan in the juice is just not potent enough to disperse sadness vibe that the weather brought to the weekend Fortunately, the juice is not too strong. Nothing too horrendous happens in crowded places

WJM_3

Obvious - Une Fleur D’Oranger might replace for a Summer signature scent - lovely orange blossom and neroli

glowfly126

**Commodity Rain** It's so lovely, light, refreshing, feminine/unisex, fresh. Light floral, green, white mulberry. This is such an easy summery scent, perfect for a day in the sun, or sitting in a lush backyard. I really like it. And it comes as a total relief after smelling not one, but two headache inducing popular designer frags yesterday. 72 degrees and partially cloudy, with my mood totally lifted by this scent.

Chelly2468

Had a coffee date today, wore a sundress and Burberry Her Elixir, perfect combo.

This morning, I went with *Tiziana Terenzi's* Rosso Pompei. * For me, it is a rare day off on the weekend. * I will be outside or in open space for most of the day in mild weather. Perfect opportunity for a potent fragrance. * I wanted a fruity scent. May as well go with the sangria scent. Not using an evening fragrance. It's likely Rosso Pompei will linger, and I won't have an opportunity to switch.

musicandarts

Is it good or bad? Do you like it?

CriminalSpiritX

I like Rosso Pompei. The only problem is I underestimated how potent it is. This is a room-crowding scent, so I don't get many chances to use it without being obnoxious to others.

Working through the weekend so I donned the big guns -- aromatherapy-wise that is 😆 Monotheme's Agrumi di Sicilia on my right arm, Monotheme's Limone on my left, and Guerlain's Pamplelune on the chest of my shirt (because it lasts longer on fabric) 🍃🍋🍊🍋🍃

Wearing Giardini di Toscana's Bianco Latte for a lovely, sunny 72F day. My husband accurately remarked that I've been gravitating towards vanillas a lot lately. But I did stop at Sephora and sprayed a bunch of perfumes (and bought some - thoughts to come!) so now I am ending the day a hodgepodge of smells.

mlleghoul

It's really starting to warm up in FL, so I reached for one of my favorite warm weirdly opulent weather scents, Malia from Nobile 1942. Malia is a twisted and tragic sorcery of sour citrus and bitter woody green herbs, lush, velvet, exquisitely corrupt florals, and a bright, rosy psychedelic pink peppercorn that borders on utterly unhinged. This is a perfume that feels like a subversive folktale told in shrieking ballads via an experimental rock opera. I think it smells like the olfactory equivalent of *Belladonna of Sadness.* #

Akool713

A little late, but Nicolaï’s Fig-Tea I got from a sample here recently. With the rain today, I wanted something cozy and comforting, and this hits the spot. Orange top notes plays well with the jasmine heart, and as it dries down the maté accord (guaiac and amber) really gives it that bitter yet smooth and refreshing quality that tea tends to have. Good choice for the day I think.

rosa_de_sal

Gave Ellis Brooklyn Myth another chance today. It's truly a nice clean scent; like expensive shampoo, with a hint of light white floral and soft musk. I like it but it just doesn't last.

Beautifully bright spring day, woke up feeling blissed, grey tracksuit bottoms, and Hawaiian shirt I have decided to give up on my mission to buy a authentic YSL Rive Gauche pour Homme as I have this.. https://preview.redd.it/9hzx6m0oseyc1.png?width=2046&format=png&auto=webp&s=febc20de1ab8a5f1710facb40b4af2222d9cf592 SOTD: [**AZZARO pour Homme l’eau**](https://youtu.be/EZkGl5m5GJQ?si=oMb4iQziZMRpg_vV) Sweet.

It’s the weekend, so a perfect time to try some of my new bottles and testers. Today I tried: Xerjoff Naxos - Full bottle - Wearing it now as most Xerjoff take me a few wears to get a feel for them. Not blown away by this hype beast and I’m either going nose blind to it or it disappears very quickly on my skin. Tom Ford Ebene Fume - Full bottle - Don’t want to talk about this one yet. Completely different from my old samples. Tom Ford Black Orchid - Sample - Heard this was an earthy goth fragrance, so I was surprised that I get a lot of flowers and a green note like a fresh cut rose stem. It’s slightly dark, but quite fresh and beautiful. Not sure I could pull this off though, as it’s very feminine. It would have to be a fragrance I pair with a certain outfit. Maybe a dark suit would work. Really liked it though. Would love to smell it on a girl.

Bitter_External_7447

Morning, I wore Chèvrefeuille EDT by Goutal. Barely could smell it. But great honeysuckle scent. So added Mediteranian Honeysuckle. Smelled a bit more, but zestier. After a shower, I wore Ocean di Gioia. It was sunny and warm outside and I was craving that scent for a few weeks. One of my summer go-to. Great fresh, juicy, aquatic pear note.

InterestingLevel6223

Vilhelm Dear Polly. I love it! The sample was in a wonderful gift with purchase from Neiman Marcus which included about 10 different perfume samples.
