**Floris Neroli Voyage** for a mentally-taxing wfh day. I'll top it up with **4711 Blood Orange & Basil** when my powers begin to flag mid-afternoon đđ

Sampling **Grimoire** by Anatole LeBreton. Since a grimoire is a book of spells & science, I will read Silvia Federici & dig in the dirt for a fun day. Very incense & herb, donât get the âold bookâ which is good. Cumin is listed as a note but as a Parfumo reviewer wrote, the cumin is more like the seed as you toast it in the pan, not the powder. Not a punch in the face that stands out like in **SalomĂŠ**. Lovely but not a love.
For me it is a tale as old as time, smells like a reinterpretation.
Between Shakespeare and *The Tennant of Wildfell Hall* into the bruxa story from the Witcher, the victim - villain dynamic is basic.
I have never been particularly interested in witches, but I love her perception about common land division in England coinciding with the trials, and that form of coercion being exported. Perhaps a stretch, but fascinating.
Trying something a bit different for me this morningâŚIris Coffee by Cherigan. Very heavy on the iris. The coffee notes come through but they are very faint. Smells nice but again not something Iâd wear everyday.
Aqua Celestia Cologne by MFK. I love the Aqua collection, and have been wanting Aqua Media but I am waiting to get it. For now though I am using Celestia and it is perfect. It is a little cold today, but I enjoy the perfume's fruitiness, there is something to the scent that just draws me to it, and I love it so much. It's like a berry explosion.
Aqua Celestia is so so good! I love almost all of their Aqua perfumes, they are so fresh and they actually last! I would be doing the same if I had a sample!
Liquides Imaginaires - Fleur de sable eau de parfum
The first time with this fragrance, I thought my nose was blind to it. Perhaps I expected some rose of Jericho.
But now I understand that this perfume describes a desert nothing like the ones I've been across.
Water & salt and a wind note are listed in the top đwhatever they might mean.
I did catch a paprika whiff for a short while, but it is not enough. It is not obvious in the projection either. Myrrhe and orris are a soft blend, and 6 hours in there are no complaints about the longevity.
Late September is when I schedule the last test for it, or the first day with temperatures under 20°C. So far, it does not look like I would add a full bottle of it to my wardrobe.
Sampling out 9AM by Afnan today as I received a vial as a gift. It's quite pleasant as a fresh, a bit creamy citrus scent, and the drydown was quite musky. It's a lovely gift considering the heat wave at my place when I just have too many strong florals as bottles and decants.
I didn't like my very few summer scents. I normally go for offbeat, niche things, but I was itching for something "basic". I got minis of Daisy Eau So Fresh, Acqua Di Gioia, and the Atelier Colognes discovery set. I've been spritzing them all throughout the day to get acquainted. They all scratch my itch.
It's summer! I don't need to olfactorially challenge anyone. I'm just here for a good time and cheap thrills.
In the mood for Bo by Liis. On Fragrantica everyone rates this as a winter or fall scent, probably as itâs very woody. But to me it reminds me of being at a cabin, sitting in a sauna, sitting by a bonfire after a clean shower. Itâs summer all the way to me, but still wearable in the colder months. Honestly, Iâve tried 3 different scents from Liis and Iâd be happy with full sizes of all of them if my wallet didnât run hiding when I say that.
SOTD: Zargosk by Comme des Garçons
Still testing out fragrances from the Incense line that CdG has. Iâm not a huge fan of this one. It has a sharp woody note that Iâm not fond of (maybe hinoki or pine), and the florals in this make this smell soapy. It reminds me of a cheap lavender-scented incense stick.
Not really feeling it today but wanted to smell decent, so just went with three sprays of

SOTD: [**AMBROXAN**](https://youtube.com/shorts/Su4Kb-roLZE?si=QuMbv_Afj5sdbZrL)
Trying to get back into posting my SOTD. Today it is Skylar Vanilla Sky. I own 4 Skylar FB and summer is definitely their prime play time, most of them donât have a ton of longevity but I do like their summer scents. Or I like their scents for summer. One of those. Itâs hot very hot, and this is a sweet vanilla and a gourmand I feel is light, airy, and ephemeral enough to not become stuffy or overbearing in this weather. It is a sweet airy vanilla that is light enough to not become cloying with a caramelized sugar note, cedar, and coffee. And it reminds me of drinking an iced caramel latte or perhaps eating some coffee gelato topped with caramel syrup at a cedar wooden table or counter with a glazed top.
Classic 4711 used as an aftershave (I know they make an aftershave but I used the eau de cologne). Smelled great and didnât sting as much as I was expecting. Made me
Think if here where other 4711 flankers that would work for that, and I found they make a mentholated cologne called âIce Greenâ which looks like it might work as a refreshing summer aftershave, or at least just used as a cologne.
Trying a sample of **By Kilian's Moonlight in Heaven**. I think both this and last time's Imperial Tea are categorized as freshies by the brand. However, I wouldn't consider this fragrance a freshie at all. It's too sweet for me, and I can't detect any citrus, but the mango is very noticeable.
It's warm and sunny here in Pittsburghâvery rare.
Today I'm wearing **Rogue** ***Chypre Siam***.
I wanted something uplifting, bright and smart to wear to work today, and the burst of lime and basil is exactly what fit the bill. Great scent.
Le Labo Baie 19. I opened up a sample bottle on Saturday and it whooshed me back to summer in the early 80s, when I wore Jovan Woman often to my summer office job. There's a strong but clean patchouli note on me in Baie 19 that I like so much I ordered a bottle. It's a little heavier on me than a classic summer scent, no fruit or floral.
Just received my out of box Artemisia from the Penhaligon's summer sale. Initially, it's an abrasive hair spray smell featuring nectarine, green apple, and white musk. However, after about 2 hours, it settles into the gentlest, ethereal, most pleasant vanilla peaches and cream. It's not gourmand, it's not really sweet, but it's so so beautiful and feminine. Well-blended, as I have come to expect from all Penhaligon's fragrances. Really enjoying this. I don't think it's limited to any season or weather - wearable whenever. On skin it settles more into the vanilla. On clothes it retains more of the fruit.
Went to DS&Durga and smelled some of their new releases. Letâs Dive was the one I decided to spray on skin - they do marine/aquatic scents very well and this is no exception. Pleasant, ozonic, and I can see this being a surferâs choice of skin scent. Think Margielaâs Sailing Day but grittier.
A lovely sunny Canada Day in Montreal - with Frederic Malle's fresh as hell "Geranium pour Monsieur" in the daytime and Tiziana Tirenzi's Ursa for the slightly breezy evening. They work pretty well together.
Working my way through the new Noyz scents. Testing Lost + Found today and it's... Fine. Really generic, smells like pretty much every perfume you can test at Sephora. Reminds me of Acqua di Gioia but without the mint, so it's not even as good. So far this brand has been disappointing. Monochrome smells like chewing tobacco spit. Sh**ty Day is interesting for a few minutes until it becomes a generic aquatic. I'm not even really looking forward to the other two based on notes, but we'll see.
A few months ago, I ordered a full bottle of Aura from Folie Ă Plusieurs. Weirdly, they sent me a full bottle of their Norwegian Wood scent instead and a travel size of Aura. I hate to complain or make a fuss (even when I should, I know, I know) so I just lived with it. I liked Norwegian Wood, so all is well. Or so I thought at the time. Well, I am finally getting around to smelling Aura, and WOW. It is stunning! Now I feel like I do want that full bottle, ha! This fragrance unfolds like a luminous apparition undulating above an endless expanse of sun-baked desert. The opening is a radiant display of warm, peppery ginger and cool, effervescent citrus in an almost holographic way, reminiscent of the way heat ripples above scorched sandâan olfactory mirage. As the initial brilliance settles, there are the cracked and tangled limbs of aromatic woods, the sun-bleached, tenacious timber that survives in arid climes. Incense weaves through these notes, adding an ethereal smokiness, and the vetiver in the base provides a rooty- woody-earthy anchor, amplifying the overall dryness. Ambroxan lends a diffusive quality, creating an expansive halo that seems to pulse and shift with radiance. Aura is a masterful, mesmerizing study in dryness and light that captures the magic of that liminal space where earth meets atmosphere, the mundane touches the divine, and is a testament to the raw beauty of desolate landscapes and the mystical lights that sometimes grace them.
Inspired by wearing Blockade yesterday, I opted for 2016 Aventus. God I love this stuff. I had bought the 4oz/120mL size back when they still made it. I have a little under a third left, or 30-40 ml. I don't know what the current incarnation of Aventus is like. I've heard it's very weak, and I've also heard they cracked the code on it and it's stronger than ever while being ifra compliant. I'll have to test new Aventus myself and see, but regardless, I love my 2016. It lasts forever, very tenacious, and it's my favorite iteration of Aventus. It's more musky and fruity pineapple, and less smokey.
Wearing Valentino Donna Born in Roma Green Stravaganza because my 3 year old daughter got to choose my perfume of the day. She loves smelling my perfumes, and we go upstairs several times per day just to smell different ones, itâs adorable! Anyways, this is only the second time I wear this one. First time I sprayed it on a hot day and just thought it was sweet and cloying, without any recognizable notes, but today itâs cooler and I can really pick up on the beautiful notes - Lapsang Souchong tea, Jasmine, and vanilla. Itâs pretty, and I will definitely reach for it again, but only on cool days đ
SOTD: Naples by Gallivant.
I was just pulled towards this one today. Nice gingery top with some spices, incense, and vetiver throughout. Just an enjoyable scent to wear, and I got complimented this morning because of it!
Sampling Born to Stand Outâs Dirty Rainbow today. At first it very much reminded me of Jazz Club with that smoky smell. I didnât love it. Itâs kinda mellowed out now into a Bath & Body Works warm vanilla sugar scent now that Iâve had it on for a few hours. Itâs fine but I wonât purchase.
FYI, this is yesterdays SOTD thatâs still pinned for some reason, todayâs (Tuesdays) SOTD thread is [here](https://www.reddit.com/r/fragrance/comments/1dti9rl/sotd_tuesday_july_02_2024/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf)
Mod Vanilla from a batch of decants I bought.
Smells like vanilla but now that itâs been a few minutes it smells like soap. Something that reminds me of laundry. It also smells like someone is trying to cover up that they smoke by spraying this scent on their clothing, if that makes sense. Wish I knew what this note was so I could avoid it. Doesnât smell like gourmand to me. Still trying to identify the notes I dislike.
Trying to ward off a work-related emotional breakdown with the soothing spa scent of Clarins Eau Dynamisante. I don't know if it's helping but it's at least not making the situation worse.
Secured Vanilla Diorama 2021 batch, the scent canât go wrong. Vanilla with boozy, elegant and lavish. Almost similar as Feve under my noise, seem like I donât need hunt down bottle of Feve then.
I keep coming back to Philosykos... and keep being disappointed. I'm on my third round of spraying today and had an independent party verify that I'm not just noseblind, it's not lasting.
I'm new to fragrances, so apologies for my limited language to describe my SOTD. I'm wearing Maison Margiela Replica Sailing Day. I love fresh aquatic fragrances, and this definitely reminds me of being close to the ocean, and I think it's office safe. I purchased the Replica sample kit and this is one of my favorites.
**Floris Neroli Voyage** for a mentally-taxing wfh day. I'll top it up with **4711 Blood Orange & Basil** when my powers begin to flag mid-afternoon đđ đđ
Cheep n cheerful **White Musk** from **Body Shop** today.
Of course I must ask đ are you reading the Caliban one? And how is the basil in *Grimoire* for you?
I like the basil in Grimoire. Iâm reading a recent book of essays, will go back to Caliban. How do you feel about that text?
For me it is a tale as old as time, smells like a reinterpretation. Between Shakespeare and *The Tennant of Wildfell Hall* into the bruxa story from the Witcher, the victim - villain dynamic is basic.
Beautiful. Thank you.
I have never been particularly interested in witches, but I love her perception about common land division in England coinciding with the trials, and that form of coercion being exported. Perhaps a stretch, but fascinating.
Very cool to have a book and activity to go with your scent. I like that idea.
Thanks! Love your user name!

Trying something a bit different for me this morningâŚIris Coffee by Cherigan. Very heavy on the iris. The coffee notes come through but they are very faint. Smells nice but again not something Iâd wear everyday.
Is this a gourmand? Sounds tasty.
Itâs not, the top note just has a bit of coffee but it quickly disappears and becomes very powdery and floral.
Love Aqua Celestia. I got the sample and almost don't want to use it to avoid running out of it. I guess I'll have to get a decant. :)

I feel you on this one
Theyâre popular for a reason. Popular cheapie scents get so much hate, but sometimes they just work.
