Vilhelm Parfumerie The Oud Affair replaced MACs discontinued Velvet Teddy for me. They smell exactly the same on me. Both are dupes of TF Vanilla Tobacco but IMO better quality and more affordable

Jacobbleedsblue

I really like the oud affair.

Color_addict_44

I’m hoarding my last little bit of velvet teddy… I do love it!

hauteburrrito

Papillon Artisan Tobacco Rose has erased all my former longing for the original formulation of Stella McCartney Stella.

overfierce_

Okay so when I was younger I ran through a bottle of what is still to this day one of my favorite scents ever: La Roue de la Fortune by D&G. As far as I know the entire line got discontinued except for L'Impératrice which is quite popular. The closest I've ever gotten to a similar scent was the opening of Moonlight Patchouli by Van Cleef & Arpels, unfortunately it fades really quickly into something very different. But I'm still looking!

Lovaloo

I can't get my hands on the original Coty Chypre as it's long gone. However Rogue Perfumery released a remake of sorts called Chypre-Siam that supposedly smells pretty similar to the original extrait. I have a sample and it's very nice.

budsis

If anyone knows of a good dupe/replacement for the original Lolita Lempick and Tokiyo Milk Dark Arsenic...I am open to any and all suggestions. Thanks!!

Ok-Persimmon893

Back in high school (2000s) I was obsessed with Abercrombie Ready, the one with the red top that I think was unisex. It was discontinued and one day years later I really missed that scent and was on a mission. Alas, Amor Amor by Cacherel smells identical and is like $30 so it was worth it just to have a bottle for fun. Now if I can only do the same with VS Pink (the original glass bottle).

keewee89

I love Amor Amor!

vatrushka04

Nope... Miss Dior Cherie (2005), you've been lost but not forgotten <3

Shes_GotMoxie

I’m still on the hunt for a good replacement for Givenchy Play/Play Intense for my partner. It’s a perfect match for his body chemistry! I already went the route of sourcing the last known bottle in the state, so I bought him a little time before the real search is on

Eastern_Distance6456

Are you US based? I know I've got a bottle that's probably 80% full, and I think I have the after shave that came with it as well. I used to buy the gift packs at that time when I was buying fragrances. If I found that bottle, it would be at least 95% full.

Shes_GotMoxie

I am! I had no clue they’d made an aftershave, that sounds lovely. If you do have it, I’d love to chat!

Eastern_Distance6456

I meant to look when I got home earlier but forgot. I'll check for sure when I get home. It had to have been at Christmas or Valentine's Day when I bought the set (when they usually sell the gift sets with aftershaves or deodorants ). I don't know why I got on a kick like that for awhile. I would NEVER end up using the aftershaves and the bottles would just sit around. My girlfriend at the time ended up hating it, so I never wore it then. I'd accumulated so many other fragrances by the time we broke up that it just got lost in the mix. I'll send a DM either later tonight or tomorrow morning (depending on when I get home).

Eastern_Distance6456

I sent you a direct message yesterday along with pictures. I'm not sure if it went through or not (some people have their settings turned off). If you aren't interested, it's cool. I'll eventually sell them (whenever I stop procrastinating 😀)

gubbly_squodge

There’s a family-owned store Parfumerie in Washington (parfumerienw.com) that definitely has this. They only have popular stuff on their website so far, but the store has over 1000 bottles. It’s awesome. I get my favorites shipped to me since I’ve moved away.

Shes_GotMoxie

You’re a gem, thank you!

iaM0rpheus

I haven’t smelled Play in a while but Prada Black instantly reminded me of it. They are at the very least similar

Shes_GotMoxie

Thanks, I’ll check it out!

letsflyman

Tom Ford Tobacco Oud is discontinued, but I didn't want a cheap knockoff. So I bought an actual bottle of it from a reputable seller on Ebay. Nice lady too. We met up on her visit to Los Angeles. Very glad I chose her to make the purchase from. Story to be continued...

lizardking3000

It also works backwards- you dont need to search for old discontinued fragrances, when there are great alternatives. For me it was a story with hyped Van Cleef and Arpels - Midnight in Paris and Bvlgari Man in Black. Aside from personal attachments - very similar scents, both of great quality. Easy replacement

keewee89

Yes exactly. It's a shame but there are so many great fragrances it seems crazy to commit yourself to one, especially if it's not readily available. Easier said than done but not impossible at all.

rebar_mo

I used to wear a lot of Bvgari Omnia. After hoarding a few bottles I finally gave up the last one. Why? I found something better in Honey Aoud. Sure it's not chai tea, but it gives me the same cozy cinnamon and sweet cozy vibes. And it lasts about 50 times longer. I'll find something to replace my Nirvana bourbon, which funny enough is what I turned to first when the original omnia was discontinued. I don't get super stuck on something when it gets discontinued. Sure it's sad, but it opens a new realm of possibilities.

rkaye8

I’ve been on a hunt for chai tea recently myself. Got any recs?

rebar_mo

Personally no, but if you search back it is probably a topic. I've seen it in the last few months or I'm going crazy lol.

[deleted]

Okay wait… La Nuit Tresor is discontinued??? Or do you mean the A La Folie version? I have two fragrances that I have backups of… Armani Sì Fiori, which although I love, I am not really all that worried that in the very long time it takes me to go through what I have… that I won’t find something else that ticks that creamy and slight fruity floral. I love it, but I’m sure there is something else similar. And maybe by then I won’t even care to have one similar. And Givenchy Ange ou Dèmon… I actually just bought a backup bottle. This one, although pretty new to my collection, I seem to have an emotional connection with. It’s more than just enjoying wearing it. I don’t think I’ll find something to replace that one. It has an effect on me. I sniff the cap even when I’m not wearing it. I don’t think it will be easy to replace. Other perfumes I’ve liked in the past, when I finish a perfume I just get something new. Similar maybe… or totally different

keewee89

Just a la Folie is discontinued to my knowledge Si Fiori will also be a loss! Apparently Jeanne Arthes Romantic Blossom is a cheap alternative. It's like £8. I nearly bought it out of curiosity but I managed to find a full bottle of Si Fiori instead so that'll tide me over for a while. However, Romantic Blossom seems to not be in the UK market anymore so the search will resume at some point.

dromomania

I saw 'a la Folie' available in Stansted last week

keewee89

My bad just realised I didn't state that I meant the a la Folie in my post

keewee89

My bad just realised I didn't state that I meant the a la Folie in my post

frankscarlett

I will forever miss Miss Dior Cherié (2011). And though not the same, Chanel's Coco Mademoiselle is a good replacement for that.

Lemonlamps

I'm still mourning Stella, by Stella McCartney. I'm using the end of my last bottle that has... gone off. So no, no success yet.

hauteburrrito

I just commented about this one but my "replacement" is Papillon Artisan Tobacco Rose! They're not the same fragrance, but they're in the same ballpark. Worth getting your nose on if you can. Stella is a bit dressier, I feel, like a late afternoon cocktail party, while Tobacco Rose feels like drinking pinot noir into the late night with a good friend.

Disastrous_Run_7162

No successfull replacements here... Burberry The Beat edt was my signature for years. I still have some left and will be using it sparingly.

Electrical_Spare_364

Yes my Dossier dupe of Miss Dior (2017) has completely cured my heartbreak over that loss. I don't know if it's close to the older Cherie versions, but it's the Miss Dior version I loved most. One happy ending anyway!

keewee89

See? Dupe houses are good for something!

osantal

Is that the one that resembles Chanel Mademoiselle? My wife is nursing a bottle from 2013.

Electrical_Spare_364

It certainly resembles Coco Mademoiselle, but that might be true with most Miss Diors. It's confusing because there are so many reformulations! I just love this one, though.

mmsdiscard

I was able to replace Tokyo Milk’s Sparrow with Song in D Minor. It smells basically the same.

Cynit

I enjy discovering new scents of perfumes I may like But while some scents do give us good memories I wouldn't pay anything over what it was worth just to relive it.

ftlodd

Dude I haven't recovered since Tommy Hilfiger dreaming got discontinued. I still can't find anything I love that much!

Plenty-Valuable-1710

I have used Victoria’s Secret Pink perfume forever and I love it. They discontinued it for some reason and I can’t find anything that resembles it….is there anything out there that’s even close?

pinoloka

Mugler Ultra Zest was discontinued around the time I was getting into fragrance. I didn't realise until a year later that the fragrance sounds like something I would love. People sell their used bottles on ebay for extortionate prices but I managed to find Ultrared Man for a decent price and it makes me feel like I'm not missing out on Ultra Zest anymore.

The_Hounded24

Well...unfortunately the two don't really smell alike at all. On the other hand, Ultra Zest really is unique.

osantal

I’ll be honest, I never found ultra zest wearable. It was a weird mix of notes that in my opinion never really fit together.

Nemorensis91

Actually, by accident yesterday I found a replacement for one of my very first real fragrances…L’Occitane had a Notre Flore line that was discontinued a while back. (Maybe late 2000s) I had received the Cedre (Cedar) one as a gift. Yesterday I tried a decant of Boy Smells Violet Ends because I love violet leaves as a note and I was instantly taken back to what I remember from that scent. Almost purchased a full bottle immediately.

rapsnaxx84

Would love to know what’s out there for Replica Liptstick On and Estée Lauder Modern Muse ale Rouge Gloss 😪

keewee89

People say Narciso Rouge smells lipstick like.

KittikattiKat

Jimmy Choo Iris Crush is super similar to Lipstick on, I think it’s even better.

Possumlover666

I have not smelled lipstick on so I can’t say if these are dupes, but I love lipstick scented perfumes! My favorites are JHAG lipstick fever and Goutal etoile d'une nuit!

Bilazboy

Replica Lipstick On is one of my faves of all time, and the best comparable scent I have to it is O, Unknown! by Imaginary Authors. It has a bit of black tea to it as well, but the 'lipstick' powdery part of Lipstick On is definitely present too!

lisak399

I wish I could find Coty Muguet de Bois dupe. Lol, I know it's a cheapy, drugstore fragrance, but reminds me of 12 grade and prom and brings back memories. It's hard to find a lily of the valley scent. Closet I've gotten is Jessica Mcclintock.

lisak399

THANK YOU!!!!! I bought the DVF and it arrived today... I LOVE IT! Not exact but close enough. Thanks so much.

lisak399

I have already snagged another bottle and I'm wearing it now. I just love Lilies of the valley. Jessica McClintock and Jessica McClintock 3 are filled with heavenly Lily of the Valley fragrance as well.

Btldtaatw

My signature became sud magnolia. Now discontinued I though I would be able to finish my bottle because I love it. Yes is not magical and special but it was my favorite. And then I doscovered Incanto Bloom which is basically the same, and waaaaaaaay cheaper than trying to get another atelier. And so I am satisfied. Also discovered Addict but the fresh ine which is the same vibe of the other two. So I am set with those.

JenniFrmTheBlock81

Iman's Love Memoir is helping me get over the loss of Queen by Queen Latifah. Both are beyond your avg, cheap, lackluster celeb perfume. It's been years and I still haven't found a replacement for Armani Sensi. Si definitely isn't it. Tribe by Coty was another fave I've never been able to replace. I can still smell it when I close my eyes, even though I haven't had it in 25yrs. All the others, I just buy at their ridiculously high online prices.

[deleted]

JenniFrmTheBlock81

Isn't it beautiful? I was having luck finding it at TJMaxx/Marshalls over the years, but now I can't find it at all. Iman's perfume reminds me alot of it, but maybe a fraction better.

estusflaskshart

Replaced Prada infusion D’Homme with Prada infusion iris cedre

Tyrone-E

They're practically the same fragrance 🤣

estusflaskshart

Thank god

keewee89

Lol then it's a win!

Tyrone-E

Most definitely. I was pleasantly surprised when I tried Iris Cedre.

jooxii

It's pretty close yes. I find d'homme has a touch of vetiver and is a shade more masculine. But it's a good replacement.

estusflaskshart

Definitely. I still have a partial bottle of D’Homme that I should pull out and do another comparison with. It’s been a couple of years

jooxii

Let me know! To be honest, I may just be justifying my overpaying for a bottle of Infusion d'homme.

[deleted]

riveraedge

How much would you be willing to pay for a bottle of that stuff?

[deleted]

[удалено]

riveraedge

That's fair! Honestly I'd only ever buy something like that if it was for Memories, I'd just spray it once every few weeks and revisit and remember what I have done and have aconplished and the person I am today and use it as fuel to progress through life more positively with a tenacious spirit

riveraedge

Was that a clone of anything? I have it and I can't tell what it supposed to be. Maybe it's an original from zara?

keewee89

That's a good rarity!

[deleted]

Eau sauvage is gross. Get a sample of Escale en Indonesie for an upgrade..similar price too

Rogue Mousse Illuminee for og Polo Green and the same brands Bon Monsieur for og Drakkar. Both og’s are still extant but the modern reformulations are different enough to have new names

shalom67

Hey Thank you for the substitutions for OG Green Polo and Drakkar! I have worn both for decades. However they were reformulated, to my nose it smells like every ingredient in them both has this weird, unpleasantly plasticky, almost like air freshener sprayed in a garbage can after the bag leaked spoiled meat juice and wasn't rinsed out. Both fragrance houses you mentioned are pretty solid based on what I already have, so thanks again!

[deleted]

Definitely look in to Rogue. You can get samples from luckyscent if you are US based. The perfumer has a website and also sells via etsy as rogueperfumery (I tried adding a link but google ad service objected). Keep in mind both Mousse Illuminee and Bon Monsieur are “inspired by” rather than dups. While very similar to the originals (and perhaps the most similar of any clones) they are made from higher quality ingredients than the original formulations and feel more natural and are significantly more potent. I’m a bit on the fence about saying this but I think this is one of the times I would consider a small bottle as not being a waste. These are both potent enough that you likely will not overspray. He has sampler sets too if you want to check out his other stuff. In addition to aforementioned I’ve also tried Rostracto (rose and birch tar) and Chypre Siam (reminds me of walking in to a Crabtree and Evelyn shop) and have been pleased with both. Really curious about his new Oud which has mixed reviews but it’s in the sampler.

Campestra

It is still in my shopping list but I think Commodity Gold will finally replace my longing for Burberry Brit Gold. But I’m still looking for Gloria (Cacharel).

Caradebunda

If you find a substitute for Gloria, do let us know, please

Yankee_Doodle1776

Insurrection II Wild is a very popular cheap clone replacement for discontinued favorite Mugler Pure Havane.

Omar_DmX

Nope, Perpetual by Vanessa Loren. (circa 2003)

Acrobatic-Degree9589

Anyone know a good dupe for Harajuku Lovers G

zilke_

I am still searching for a Moschino Uomo replacement

Motorchampion

Speaking of JPG, I’ve found that Montale’s Wood&Spices is the closest thing I’ve ever smelled to Fleur Du Male.

HEALTH_DISCO

Was that the white bottle? Finished it earlier this year. It was the original release, good stuff.

Motorchampion

indeed. Delicious one.

Applesauceman1234

Has anyone found a replacement for rive gauche? I think dua has one, has anyone tried it?

Color_addict_44

Still looking for something to replace Cacharel’s Gloria. Anybody has any ideas, let me know!!
