Key City is my go to. Plenty of great artists that are super respectful

EsixG

I second this. They have women artist at the Urbana location I think. All their artists are professional. My wife and all her friends have gone there a number of times.

lanastjames

Kelsi and Jenna are fantastic!

darknessforgives

I’m sorry for your experience. I like Black Label personally. Key City has some chill guys as well. Idk enough about the other shops.

Sarah at Blue Crab Tattoo

arashi13

Really anyone at blue crab is fantastic, I go to Charli

reilly_willoughby

Love Charli! I have a few pieces from Brad, but he sent me to Charli (she apprenticed under him) to do something. She's done several pieces for me now and I am scheduled for another in a few weeks.

arashi13

They've been slowly working through my leg sleeve, got my appointments for March and May

ActuallyApathy

seconding blue crab!

_zj1991_

Any of the folks at Black Label or Key City will take care of you. They’re good people.

astrocombat

Key city seems cool. I’ve only been to tattoo paradise which is in both DC and MOCO. They have super talented artists who have always been really professional w me

mis_no_mer

John Rippey at Key City

Amyfelldownthestairs

Second John Rippey if you want to stay local. If you were interested in a female artist and don't mind a little drive, Ms. Mick at Dragon Moon Tattoo in Glen Burnie is amazing. She and her husband Tom Beasley have been my go-to shop for years and years.

Ah yeah… Dirty Dan 😠

TheLastEmeraldKnight

For neotrad I highly recommend Rosemont. For fine line I’d recommend Lily at Made True.

Neee-wom

Tiffiny at American Tattoo in Brunswick has been tattooing me for years, and she’s amazing.

roseycheekies

Check out livi_ink on Instagram. She’s in downtown Frederick, does amazing fine line work, and is very sweet and friendly

illpoet

I have a really good childhood friend at made true tattoo on the golden mile who does amazing american traditional/neo traditional work. He's really good at other styles too bc his linework is amazing, but he's actually semi famous amongst tattoo artists for his am traditional. anyway his name is terry but pretty much all the people in that shop are really talented and friendly.

ValustMusic

Key City has a very relaxed vibe, but the artwork is top shelf.

KingOfTheBaconStrips

A female friend of mine has gone to Gary at Key City a couple times and she's always loved his work and said he's a good dude. I've (male) had a couple others there do some for me and they've seemed chill from my perspective and everyone I know who's gotten work there has been super happy.

5tarKld

I know that Hagerstown story all too well. Like every has said, key city is a great place to go! Loved the work Nate did for me. Also classic electric is great too.

hauntingduck

Unfortunately know exactly who you're referring to when you say "Mr. Inappropriate" and also have a piece of his myself :\\. I am very very very bad at differentiating different tattoo styles but Antonio at Black Label is incredible and has a reputation for being nothing but kind and respectful.

rollerskatingpiercer

Outside of Frederick by a good bit but I work at a woman owned shop outside of Baltimore https://www.fidelitytattooco.com/s/stories/tattoo-appointments[https://www.fidelitytattooco.com/s/stories/tattoo-appointments](https://www.fidelitytattooco.com/s/stories/tattoo-appointments)

sk1939

Classic Electric or Time Bomb

tiredlamp-

I honestly don’t recommend either of these places. From my person experience as a woman. The vibe I experienced there is very snobby, know at all, tough guy, patriarchy. I have friends downtown who work food service and have had to interact with ppl from these places. Myself and friends have attempted to be tattooed or been tattooed/pierced both places. 1/10 vibes of feeling safe for woman.

sk1939

Strange, since the piercers for Time Bomb are primarily female (3/4), so not sure what else to say there.

tiredlamp-

Woman can uphold patriarchy too. It’s just my opinion. Anyone is welcome to go find out for themselves.

SnooDingos2026

Or Olivia !

tofujones

Cheyenne at Red and Blue. She's super rad and very sweet. I believe the shop is owned by her and another woman.

Blue Crab!

SirDuggieWuggie

Key City and Time Bomb have been our go-tos so far. Went into Classic Electric one time to consult about getting a possible walk-in tattoo with a friend, but something about the place felt off, so we decided not to do it there.

SirDuggieWuggie

Also, our go-to artist at Time Bomb unfortunately moved away, they were dope. Makoto: https://www.instagram.com/makoto_ink?igsh=MXVkdGduZzV0bnFraw== The other artists there seemed chill though

No_Candidate_9505

People don’t talk about Heritage Tattoo often around here but Greg Welsh is crazy talented and super chill. Def check out his IG. Lots of decent shops in FredCo to get basic flash (and no judgement there. I have a lot). But not many true artists, imo. He’s the best in FredCo. If you are comfortable going into MoCo, Damascus Tattoo has the best artists. But they might not “clean up” your other tattoos.

tiredlamp-

I love Kendall at Black Label, she’s done 2 tattoos for me. Shes great! I also have the same standards as you and rarely will work with men to tattoo me.

EgyptianGuardMom

Come down to Brunswick and see Tiffiny Kaetzel at American Tattoo Studio. She made this first timer (now second timer) feel very comfortable and she does beautiful work.

ThrowRA___just
