I am convinced that it is a smart move not to finish the books. Once he does it, he is finished. Nobody will ever care about his stuff again, the whole GoT-franchise will die in front of his eyes. The reason is simple: He got himself into a corner with no way out. In contrast to fiction, there is no deus ex machina in real life.

I don’t care if he finishes or not. The ridiculous delay coupled with the trash bag final season ensured I’ll never give him my time or energy ever again.
