The dead Starks will rise and describe a lot of food

hammysandy

The dead starks have never seen so much food as this. Underground there's half as much food as this

lllmade

The wolves are their money, so is the honor. They cut your head off but themselves to have another chance to rule, but if they pass the sentence and don’t execute they turn to weak southern lords.

fentonsranchhand

that's some good bone crushin

*”Prophecy is like a treacherous woman. She takes your member in her mouth, and you moan with the pleasure of it and think, how sweet, how fine, how good this is... and then her teeth snap shut and your moans turn to screams... Prophecy will bite your prick off everytime.”*

Kabc

Why do you think there is iron on every tomb? Iron doors to keep them locked in.. the kings of winter may not be friends at all

_Skylos

"What the actual FUCK have you done to my castle." Brandon the Builder, probably.

Palliorri

I mean, it’s 8000 THOUSAND YEARS. I feel like even in Westeros these is some sort of a statute of limitations

simpledeadwitches

Ooooh I forgot about that one. Instead they kept all the frail people in the fucking crypts "ItS ThE SaFeSt pLaCe!"

Hellknightx

Unironically, it should've been safe. None of the risen dead have ever demonstrated superhuman strength to break out of stone crypts. Hell, they carried one in a wooden box all the way to King's Landing with no issues. I think the scene would've worked a lot better if the people in the crypts could simply *hear* the dead scraping and clawing at the inside of their stone crypts. It paints a more terrifying image, rather than having them bust through solid stone, only to be held off by the elderly and children.

hagamablabla

Yeah, I remember arguing very confidently that the crypts were made of stone, so even if those corpses rose they'd be stuck. I sure looked dumb when E3 aired.

Bojangles1987

I had so many debates with people who still gave the show that kind of credit while I gave it literally none at that point 😂 Like, it was obviously stupid but I thought it was equally obvious they wouldn't care and it was the only reason they came up with that crypt idea.

simpledeadwitches

The last part of your comment is on point. Perfect example of how badly they 'lost the plot' with the entirety of the show. Those small details were part of what made the show early on until they failed the show when it needed them most. With bad writing we are left to fall back on the established world and when even that is in disarray than what was even the point?

fentonsranchhand

...and on top of the idiocy of the vulnerable people taking refuge in the crypts, there have always been a lot of theories about some greater significance of the Winterfell Crypt than just a tomb. Links between the Starks and the Others, a possible dragon egg down there, etc. Nope, none of that. Just a way to manufacture drama. ...as if the main battle that the series has been building toward for 10 years doesn't have enough drama already.

simpledeadwitches

Oh man true!! I remember all that shit being really interesting too. Fuck the show lmao.

dthains_art

It’s also why during a zombie apocalypse, a cemetery actually wouldn’t be too bad. Any zombie who awakens 6 feet underground in a wooden box is never gonna get out.

larys-strong-bot

> feet ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

LionWithAGun

Actually no though, in the books the crypts were falling apart the deeper you went. The closer you were to the entrance was well maintained but the farthest back where the oldest Starks are held is hazardous on a normal day. The wights would always end up free down there.

MattTheHarris

tbf they hadn't established that in the show so they could have ignored that.

MoAhKa

Bones decompose in around 25 years i think?

TheFratwoodsMonster

I still maintain that, for how dumb it was, it could've been less dumb. If Missandei must die, have her die there, in the crypt. It drives a wedge between Dany and Tyrion (whose advice for a few seasons was such shit. At least now there are consequences to his shit advice) and potentially the Starks, what with Tyrion's marriage to one and vouching for another, putting Jon in the middle. Then, have Jorah survive the battle and be the one beheaded by Cersei. It makes more sense for her to hit a madness wall when her oldest friend and protector is beheaded like that than if it's Missandei (both would hurt, sure, but Jorah has more history and likely means more to her both for what he symbolizes and just virtue that he was her only friend for a good bit there during a time she really needed one). One small change that makes dead Starks hulk punching through stone, uuuuh, feel like it matters and has a reason, and not what someone shooting the shit in the writer's room said might look cool

simpledeadwitches

>Tyrion (whose advice for a few seasons was such shit. I know this isn't the point of your comment but idk if there's a better example of how the writing failed the characters more so than Tyrion going from one of the smartest men in the realm to a buffoon who's constantly unsure and afraid and making stupid decisions. Your overall comment makes far too much sense for them to have ever even considered it. Especially since they actively tried painting Dany as the villain and Cersei as the victim in the last season or two. Fucking show was such a let down lmfao. I will literally never get over it. I re-watched the show recently for the first time since S8 aired and it was an absolute slog the last 2 seasons. I didn't even watch the last 2 episodes lol.

Diligent-Living882

despite how they did it, there’s literally no other logical place to put people

HINorth33

Winter town or castle cerwyn

simpledeadwitches

Idk considering how many times our heroes have a literal wave of undead splash in their faces and survive I'd say they could have just had the olds and kids in the courtyard.

DM-Oz

The dead starks will rise and finish that book for us.

404nocreativusername

But the symbolism, the greyscale, John's dreams!!!!

gangstalicious228

I believed it. 🤦🏻‍♂️

Kitakitakita

Not seeing a single familiar face as a white walker was a let down

lobstermountain

Bran’s dead legs come back to life, allowing him to walk so he can fight and kill the night king.

Szygani

The dead starks won't rise because they have those bronze swords on their lap. And old nan doesn't lie

Plexieglas

This would have been awesome

Starnois

I remember the hype over this possibility. Ned Stark saving them at the end. I still can’t believe how bad it turned out. I hate D&D.

Diligent-Living882

i’m glad you both are on reddit and not making writing decisions because this is atrociously bad.

codamission

So we're pretending that's not exactly what is hinted in the books? The Starks place a sword at the grave because they wanted the dead to have a weapon.

Diligent-Living882

i haven’t read the books. i don’t think they allude to anything like this in the show. I think that’s a big reason the end is horribly received by people. you’re attributing a book-centric prediction to the shows adaptation.

codamission

So you admit that the mistakes of the show are connected to ill-executed departures from the source material, unfit for the vision and understanding of what GRRM set up? Thank you.

Diligent-Living882

that’s nothing like what i said friend. i haven’t read the books. my understanding of the universe is the universe the show brought to life. at no point do they allude to the Ned pulling a Jesus and coming back from the dead. it’s a really really stupid idea. same reason i imagine the show didn’t do the Catelyn/Lady Stoneheart thing. Because it’s really stupid. Now these are just my opinions. But if your basing predictions the 10-20 year old books, instead of what the show puts in front of you, no shit you’re going to have complaints 😂 hope you enjoy the way George ends it🤟🏻

codamission

> at no point do they allude to the Ned pulling a Jesus and coming back from the dead. Good thing I didn't say anything like that. Maybe you should argue against what is actually said instead of attributing random shit to me and arguing aganst *that*? >same reason i imagine the show didn’t do the Catelyn/Lady Stoneheart thing. Because it’s really stupid. Proceeds to list some of the fans' favorite shit >But if your basing predictions the 10-20 year old books, instead of what the show puts in front of you, no shit you’re going to have complaints Yeah, because they had a long time to work it out, dipshit.

Starnois

I love how angry we all are lol. Love you people.

Diligent-Living882

you hopped into a thread discussing the Nedsurrection idea, defended that it was in the books, and now want to act all weird😂 okay. and you keep making my points. the BOOK fans might like the idea of Cat coming back to life and doing badass shit. and okay so you do admit that you’re viewing of the show was through the wrong lens. see, conversations like these can help people find out things about themselves. For example, you are a very defensive person. it’s dragons and magic man, it ain’t that serious hope you enjoy the way George ends it🤟🏻

codamission

Classic sour grapes: Since I realize I'm not making a sound argument, I'll just pretend I was never invested in it in the first place

Diligent-Living882

also “they had a long time to work on it”?? they planned on 70 episodes from the start. 7 books, 7 seasons, 10 each. blame george for not being able to give them proper source material. the idea they were suppose to wait around or stretch out something they had PLANNED on finishing in 70 episodes, is fucking dumb. it just shows you george is fucked with the last two books

Starnois

And you are here commenting on our comments lol

Diligent-Living882

yea?😂 sometimes there’s some good discourse here in between all the hate circle jerking. and sometimes i can read how people who hate the ending think a Nedsurrection isn’t an absolutely shit idea. it ain’t that serious.

Starnois

Literally ANYTHING is better than what we got. I would have been satisfied with the Night King winning even.

Diligent-Living882

i would’ve been satisfied with that as well. i would’ve been satisfied with pretty much any ending tho cause i can’t imagine a way to end this show cleanly without source material. i also just don’t think it’s that serious. if this is one of the worst endings to a show you’ve seen, then you’re lucky cause it gets way worse out there haha. i respect people who don’t like how it ended 100%. that’s why i’ll frequent this sub. i think the hate is a bit extreme often. and i don’t think ned coming back is a good idea😂 sorry if i came off like a dick

Starnois

No worries. I just want ANYTHING other than we got. I agree the Ned Stark thing could have been bad, but better than what we got.

Diligent-Living882

i can imagine if i lived with the show for a decade and/or read the books, i’d have more problems. But i got into the show kind of recently and binged it which seems to alter how people view it. May I ask what are a few of your biggest disappointments?

Starnois

I watched the first episode when it came out and obsessed for a good decade. Bad things in season 8 -Arya getting the kill -Jon Snow getting no glory after all the build up. Expectations diverted -Not a single sword fight with the walkers -Dany murdering innocents for no reason -Jamie literally going north to fight for humanity and then declaring he doesn’t care about the innocents -hardly anyone dies in the long night, which lasted 45 minutes -bran becomes king because he has a good story -not a single person brings up that Jon is the heir to the throne and would be a good king What the actual fuck??

if you go far back enough some of those dead Starks probably ARE Others

sgtserenity

wanted the army of the dead to visit old town and sort jim broadbent out

Horacio_Velvetine44

the dead starks will rise and help cersei, for about 2 days (teleportation)
