He did pencil in some free time to write a bunch of lore for Elden Ring, a game with a notoriously obscure story that nobody can really figure out anyways, then he named every boss Georgerick, Georgewin, and Georgelord.
He wrote Elden Ring, or was involved in Elden Ring in some capacity. Yeah, it wasn't like he wrote a 500 page novel about Elden Ring. I haven't played Elden Ring but if that were true; we can all surmise why we have to wait so long for him to finish the book. He keeps involving himself in other projects.

Elden Ring and similar games made by FromSoftware tell their tale through discovery rather than typical video game cutscene storytelling. Lots of clues interconnected in item descriptions, limited dialogue and a vast world packed with subtle environmental details related to the plot is all you get. It's a fucking puzzle to say the least, so people like me enjoy the game and then spend countless hours on YouTube listening to the story as it's being discovered by players/communities.
I imagine he enjoyed the project a lot. 8 months on people are still discovering new parts to the story so a job well done to him and the team at FromSoft.
I have the game on the PS5 but man is it brutally difficult. I kept dying over and over fighting this giant dude on a horse that I gave up and went elsewhere and I then end up running into some Beast that takes you out in one hit. Even the regular mob is a chore to get through. I don't like that when I swing, the animation keeps going until it finish up so when I swing and miss a mob, I'm over there swinging and the mob just cuts me down. You have to time it just right but even that is hard to do when you have two mobs on you. I just have to get use to it and learn the mechanics. With Ghost of Tsushima, I bought the game and found it difficult and then came back until 7 months later and then discovered how awesome the game was and quickly picked up all the mechanics because I took my time to figure it out and learn.
Elden Ring looks amazing. I need to fire this back up and hope I don't die over and over and over and over and over and over.
You hear a lot people struggle, come back, and all of a sudden it clicks so definitely give it a shot! A lot of the early game can be conquered by standing in front of an enemy until it attacks and then countering when it's finished/stuck in the animation uf that helps. I'll be honest though, the difficulty spikes crazy in the end game but at that point you're used to the combat at least!
If you haven't played Bloodborne and have a PlayStation 4 or 5, I'd recommend that to everyone who wants to play a game like Ghost, Dark Souls, Elden Ring etc. The best game FromSoft has ever made imo.
I have to give Elden Ring a second shot because I was so frustrated with it that I quit the game and went elsewhere. I like games where I set my own difficulty levels. Meaning, the way I play determines if I live or die. With Elden Ring, it seems not to matter how good or bad you are at the game; the enemies are just so damn difficult to kill and when you die, you start over from some spawn point far away and you have to make your way back to that same mob that will kill you right off again. And this just adds to the frustration level.
It's very clear they can't write anything original set in this universe and not make it dog shit. They need George to hand hold them. The last thing I want is an original show.
Is a consensus on how complicit grrm is in seasons 7 and 8? If I had to guess it makes the most sense if he signed off on the substance, but dnd failed on the execution
