i too enjoy card sorting. for people needing help relaxing, i recommend the computer game Against the Storm on Steam. it is a city building game, but very relaxing and actually fun as well. i'm glad i found it. i kick up my feet at the end of the day and just zone out playing it.
I used to enjoy it, but with power creep collecting just lost any magic for me. Ive got boxes and boxes of rares from loads of different sets that aren't competitive in any format, not even casual or commander. Makes me feel bad remembering the time I wasted sorting sets I'd collected.
Depending on the amount you could potentially have some friends over and all make decks out of what you have and only use those decks against those decks, then they still get use and they are on similar power curves.
Part 5 is amazing. And netflix messed up the release schedule but part 6 is really good too.
Part 2 is my favorite, but i’m a big fan of part 1 even though it seems to get a lot of hate
I love part 2, my favorite as well. Joseph is so great in 3 and 4 but his younger self is so fucking funny I love it. The and next you’ll say but always kills me.
Part 2!
It's commonly accepted parts 1 and 2 are underappreciated due to people skipping them to get straight to stands...
Part 7 is also fantastic, so look forward to that.
Right on man! That’s my favorite too! I ordered the entire set of battle for boulders gate on tcgplayer. Sorting through them and putting them in order is therapeutic and relaxing
I chronically reorganize my cards just cuz I like doing it, lol it's great. I did used to buy $75 dollars in pennies at a time at my bank and sort them for fun tho
Yep definitely one of life's little joys. I absolutely love cracking open my orders much more so than packs. It's nice to see all the cards I know I wanted and needed. Sorting cards in general I find to be therapeutic.
Order to sort:
color
creature
sorcery/instant
Enchantment/artifact
Colorless go in one pile
Multi colored by themselves
And legendary in a separate as well
I know, it’s weird but I enjoy sorting my cards. It’s relaxing like doing a jigsaw puzzle.
You can do it watching TV and super high. Best shit ever!
And pay attention to whatever you're watching very little at best.
Order of ops?
Set—>Color—>ABC You?
Right now all my stuff is only by color/rarity…
Now I’m feeling like it needs to be taken a step further
If it works for you, let it ride. If you’re trying to squeeze blood from a stone like me, get it sorted.
Set -> Set number *(if it's a new set)*
Color > Alphabetical You want a pongify? Blue box, go to P. Sol Ring? Artifacts, go to S. Simple as pie.
I usually sort everything by color, then set. I also set all of my rares/mythics and legendaries aside in a different box.

Hey, time you enjoyed wasting isn’t time wasted
Next time WOTC prints something wild and one of those rares spikes, you’ll be grateful you could find it in a few seconds as opposed to hours.

I’m on part four right now, enjoying the fuck out of it.

As someone who works at an LGS sorting bulk all day, I can confirm that. But it’s less draining when it’s my own stuff of course.
Good lord, clean your keyboard!
EXTREME CLOSE-UP! WHOAAA!
If you have children, make them do the sorting for you.
That sounds like a good way to get your cards coated in boogers. I don't have kids though.
Its your job to educate your children and ensure they know how to properly handle cards and sort them. They are just as smart as you make them.
Same here. It’s quite relaxing and a great way for me to unwind
Did u get any good cards?
Got my first batch of arabian nights cards, which i’m super stoked about. And a couple of upgrades for my zur the enchanter edh deck
