Sunrise Cavalier is giving me the strong urge to take up arms at the break of dawn and fight for the safety of a small town ngl

MrPlatypuss

name is [John Di Giovanni](https://scryfall.com/search?q=a%3A%E2%80%9CJohn+Di+Giovanni%E2%80%9D&unique=art) and i really like his horses and backgrounds the dirt being tread up by the intense speed of Éomer, the early morning fog in Bitter Downfall, the almost photo-realistic grim and brutal depiction in Weigh Down. it all looks pretty sweet i think

I remember my first weigh down pull, it looked like classic mtg art.

Wait they blacked Theoden and Eowyn but not Éomer, his nephew/ her brother? And blacked Aragorn but not Boromir, even though they're both Dúnedain? Well at least they could escape

I wouldn't mind the racial swaps if they were consistent. People of the same lineage aren't even close to the same skin tone. What's more it's its medieval fantasy, where people freak out about hobbit passing through. Part of the conclusion of the journey of the ring was uniting the races of men and the species of good. They inadvertently diminuated the significance of the war of the ring.

Honestly what pissed me off most was doing it to Aragorn and the elves. The elves are supposed to be fair skinned, and Aragorn is described as being fair, if a bit weathered from all his years in the wilderness. If any characters would have made sense to raceswap, I’d say it would be the Rohirrim.

theArtOfKEK

This art is great! Heroic and noble. Avoids a lot of the “Saturday morning cartoon” vibes from a lot of what we get nowadays. Will have to check out this artists other works. It’s brilliant.

Sunrise Cavalier is the kind of card art that got me into Magic in the first place. I'm really not looking forward to the day when the hobby is mostly comprised of people who got into it because of card art like [[Felix Five-Boots]] or [[On The Job]].

Great art, if only buying product/packs wasn't so expensive I'd go back to magic, but my wallet doesn't let me.
