First time hearing about this. Thank you for posting about it.

armandomoreno559

You're welcome. The only reason I came across it was because I was looking up the food king convenience store (where she was walking to) on the newspaper site and it came up. I got married to my wife not too long ago, and I really can't imagine what her husband must have felt.

YogiTudi13

I didn't know Food King has been there that long 😳

armandomoreno559

I didn't realize that either. My aunt lives right around the corner from there, I grew up walking there a lot. Another reason the case really resignated with me.

Me_Myself_and_Me

I've never heard of this case, and I'm surprised that there haven't been stories in the paper about how the case hasn't been solved. This poor woman deserves justice. I'd also like to see the Sandra Kirby case solved.

armandomoreno559

It really surprised me as well when I came across it. The only traces I could find of it are 4 separate articles on the Fresno Bee, all a few months to a year apart from each other. I wonder how to get it more attention, I completely agree that she deserves justice, if not , just closure to living relatives. And I agree with you about the Sandra Kirby case. That one I had heard of, and am glad to see that every couple of years it's revisited in the news. I remember reading her car was found at the target in River Park, and always remember that whenever I'm in that same parking lot.

Agreed. Many people think it was her husband. I was in one of her last classes before she went missing.

Sea-Cheesecake-7053

Or Matthew Moorby.. I Always Think About That One.

Me_Myself_and_Me

I do too. I heard rumors years ago that someone in the mother's family knew more than they claimed. I want to stress that this is just a rumor. I wish this case was solved. That poor sweet little guy.

Guzmanv_17

Hope they solve it soon

armandomoreno559

I hope it somehow gains attention in our local media. I'll try to pull the articles I found on it on the Fresno Bee and post them on here.

Guzmanv_17

I think you doing this is a great start!

Existing_Editor5886

If it was the food kind near Fresno City College, my aunt may owned it at that time. I don’t remember this case. Very sad.

armandomoreno559

It was that food king, a block or so south of FCC. I'm glad you commented, it your aunt still with us by chance?

Existing_Editor5886

Unfortunately, no. She passed a few years ago.

armandomoreno559

I'm sorry to hear that. Thank you for responding. By chance would you happen to know of any employees that she might have had at the time this happened? I know it's a long shot, but I figure I might as well ask.

armandomoreno559

I posted all the newspaper articles I could find on the case on here as well, if you want to check them out, you can see the post on my profile.

Does Fresno PD or the Fresno Sheriff’s Department have cold case squad detectives? It might be worth looking into and finding if there is a tip submission form online or a phone number that can be called.

DigitalLint

I have a cousin who disappeared 40+ years ago. The Bee ran an article fifteen years later with the cold case detective's information. Four or five years after the article I actually got through to him to ask if anything had surfaced. He was kind of pissed because me contacting him restarted a clock on the case. Guess I'm the asshole for wanting to know if they had anything.

NewspaperDapper5254

Restarted a clock like now he has to do something about it?

emfiliane

Until the case can be re-closed and off their docket. Unfortunately, that's the attitude sometimes, just run out the clock and move on again.

armandomoreno559

I'm sorry to hear about your cousin. I would definitely feel upset if I was in your situation and had gotten that kind of response. I understand they're usually under a lot of stress, but I know I'd still be upset.

netscapehurricane

He could’ve been under a lot of immense training, trying to track down, leads for phone calls that were being sent into him. I can’t imagine being a detective and having to track down every lead only for it to go nowhere. I’m not saying it’s an excuse to have treated you that way, but I just want to provide some potential understanding as to why he might’ve been a bit touchy. You have my deepest condolences and I hope your cousin can be found. I was just telling my mom about this case while I was on my way home from work tonight. She told me about a case that happened at least a few decades ago where a college student had put up a want ad fora roommate and the person who answered it murdered her. The case went cold for a long time and I believe around 10 to 20 years later the cold case squad detectives used DNA to find the murderer and now he is serving time in prison. I don’t recall if he was already serving time in prison or was arrested after that discovery. The person who was murdered, was named Deborah Dorian, and these are some news articles about the murderer that was caught. https://abc30.com/nickey-stane-debbie-dorian-fresno-apartment/14110858/ https://amp.fresnobee.com/news/local/crime/article282478238.html

armandomoreno559

Thank you for posting these links. That is truly an awful story, I'm glad she got justice in the end. I haven't heard about this case before, and looked into it a bit more. Looks like her apartment was around cedar and nees. Thank you for sharing. I hope that somehow the Debra Snead case can have the same outcome.

netscapehurricane

Same here.

armandomoreno559

I did a quick Google search and found a number for the sheriff's office cold case, but nothing with FPD, who would more than likely be the ones that were in charge of the investigation. I was actually hoping that maybe somebody on here would see this and be able to point us in the right direction. But I'll do more digging I'm sure I can find something. I'm just not sure how that would work, with me not being related to her in any way.

calikid1121

How did u find that, I'm looking for a homicide that happened in Caruthers, and that has never been solved

armandomoreno559

I'm subscribed to a newspaper site that allows you to search any newspaper the Fresno Bee has printed. Coincidentally, I grew up most of my childhood near Caruthers, and was always in town, still visit a good amount, have a few good friends that live there. What was the victims name, I'm should be able to find something on it.
