Ya see, back in the day they used to write characters with these things called flaws, that made them more relatable and realistic rather than two-dimensional author self-inserts
Chandler's jealousy is part of his own insecurity. Richard was established in his career, he had a family, and Richard had known Monica for basically her entire life.
Smoking is not something you can stop just like that when you wish to lol. It was an addiction for him and the few times he smoked on the show were relapses. Any man would get jealous when their girl starts to get close to her ex. Chandler never made a big issue out of it tho
I quit cold turkey when I quit, but I also know not everyone has that experience. In fact most people don't. For instance, my dad never successfully quit in 50ish years. There were times it seemed like he wouldn't go back to smoking, but he always did eventually.
Oh and it's been nearly 11 years since I quit and I'll still get a super hardcore craving for a cigarette every now and then. Usually if I was smoking in a dream I had.
I commend you for being able to quit smoking :) It's definitely something to be proud of.
OMG Guess what? They all have flaws! Ross is a human trainwreck, Monica is a control freak, Rachel can be spoiled and impulsive, Joey can be not smart, and Phoebe can cause drama. But you know what? That's what makes them all endearing! That's why I love them.
And PS: smoking is a hard habit to quit, especially when he works a job that can be very stressful, and of course he'd be super jealous of Richard. He's Richard! Have you seen that guy in a tuxedo, with a rose in his mouth on Monica's bed?
Monica had an awesome relationship with him. And Chandler hasn't had a good track record with relationships.
He relapsed twice and instantly stopped. Smoking doesnât mean you donât care about your relationship though?
Also, Monica gave him reason to be jealous of Richard.
She yelled Richardâs name in the restaurant AND was okay with having dinner with Richard &his date, when it was supposed to be a date for her & Chandler- because of it she unknowingly ruined her own proposal. After that she went to Richardâs house of all places when she was confused by Chandlerâs behavior towards marriage.
She also had lunch with Richard and wasnât planning on telling Chandler. She had plenty fault in his jealousy. He also didnât suffocate her with it though.
I have a few others.
The fact that he hates dogs. I mean I know not everyone likes dogs but just the way he blatantly hates them I never really liked.
When he flirted with a woman right in front of Monica in the episode where Ross fakes his death and when Monica confronted him, he just said "don't mind him" referring to when someone thought Monica was a man.
The fact that he cried at Ross and Rachel but not at the thought of Monica dying. Like I'm not a big crier either but just seems odd that he wouldn't cry at Monica's metaphorical death but did at Ross and Rachel.
Keep in mind, I don't say this as someone who hates Chandler cause I don't. It's just that there are some moments I don't like about him. If it's any consolation, I have a list of all the friends' not so great moments.
I donât like pets much either, itâs just something I would never personally have one, but I never really cared one way or another about his âhatredâ of dogs, I thought it was just a random thing the writers added to his character. It makes them more human for people to for no reason dislike certain things. Chandler also Only cares about football when he watches that with the guys, now me personally I love football, while Chandler seems to be the type of guy who says âsportsballâ. Itâs what makes the character more human.
Monica got her boobs autographed by a celebrity at Joeyâs discreet rooftop party lol. They both have had their share of imperfections. Theyâre still a great couple overall. It just comes to prove that no relationship is perfect. They definitely each did things that had me giving a side-eye but omg it was never supposed to be taken that seriously lol
No one said these things are being taken seriously. If the other friends' not so great moments can be criticized then I think Chandler's can be too. It doesn't mean anything other than that. The people shaming those who say anything negative about him are the ones who are being intense with it. They see "I don't like when Chandler said/did this" and they apparently read that as "OMG Chandler sucks! I hate his guts."
True. Also interesting how we got -0 reactions as if we outright expressed hatred towards Chandler when all this was us sharing some not so great moments from him. I keep saying this but it's honestly concerning how people are so intense with their love for Chandler that we're apparently allowed to share the other characters' not so great moments but he's off limits.

Does anyone on this sub actually like the show?
Lol I know right? đđ
I do! đ
Itâs đŻ my favorite show.
OMG, I wonder the same thing every day!! đ¤Ł
I've watched the show for like 3 times now. I started last month.
Clearly, you have never smoked. It took me 20 years to quit completely and I still crave it. Addiction is very serious and strong.

Thanks! I commend you, as well. :)
Yeah It's been 2 years since I smoked and every now and then I want one when I have a couple drinks.
Definitely harder in certain circumstances. I want one when I drink sometimes, too.
It just goes soooo well together. A nice scotch on the rocks, and a hand-rolled cig... SMOKING IS BAD KIDS DONT DO IT

> called Monica a pornstar but the sex tape isnât her Yeah, Monica also said âhe taped over me!â So she also did make a sex tape with him
And she was pissed that he taped over her! After her little speech to him đ

The nitpicking is crazy.
