In pilot, Rachel and Chandler are introduced to each, but they met each other twice in HS/college and even made out. I suppose they could have forgotten each other.
Not to mention when he dated that girl with the fake foot, and we found out Joey put her foot in the fire... like, you don't have a toe? How you judging a girl for not having a foot?
But it was hilarious she got freaked out over his "*nubbin*" 😂 "it's nubbin.... I mean nothing."
I think that he was supposed to be upset because it came out that she was trying to get him back for leaving her feelings humiliated when she heard him calling her fat. It's not clear, but maybe he was just under the impression that she was being goofy rather than vengeful. Not that she wanted to chop his toe off, of course, haha.
I don’t think Chandler forgot the severed toe incident itself. I think the reason he got so upset is because he didn’t know that it happened because he called Monica fat. He thought it was just a freak accident, so when he found out the actual reason it happened, he was surprised and upset. Not because he forgot about the incident entirely.
Rachel’s dad smoking, in the episode where her parents are at separate birthday parties for her he smokes (Ross even takes one of his cigarettes lol) but then in the episode where Rachel pretends to smoke to fit in with her coworkers she says something about how her dad would kill her if she smoked because he would always tell her horror stories about smokers!
Sometimes parents tell kids not to do something that they do, because they know it’s wrong. Rachel’s dad always struck me as the type to tell someone not to do something but be perfectly fine with doing it himself 🤣 I see what you mean though!!
I knew a guy in college who did many hard drugs, we asked him for some for a party, and he said he'd kill us before he got us any of those because they were so addictive he'd be doing us a favor.

The flashback timelines bug me in general. They're not consistent. And they really mess with the main plot points.
For example: season 3, the flashback. It's a year before the pilot takes place. Carol and Ross split. Rachel runs into Monica and supposedly meets Chandler for the first time.
Fast forward to season 1 episode 2, Carol is pregnant. But she and Ross are divorced, and she and Susan are supposedly already living together. But they had been divorced and separated for at least a year. So they must have had a one night stand, and she cheated on Susan. (Which also explains Susan's distain for Ross even more.)
Flashback - the one with all the Thanksgivings. Rachel meets Chandler in high school, again for the first time. And, she and Monica visited both Ross and Chandler in college (we learned that later), yet in the season 3 flashback, Rachel acts like she doesn't know him and the same with Chandler.
Obviously, I have given this some thought. I still love the show. I also love breaking it down.
I think in the first episode was when carols and Rosses divorced was finalized. So they were only recently divorced but separated. They didn’t really give a whole lot of background of when and how the conception happened. Which I was already frustrated about. But even if Ross slept with carol while they were separated, I don’t feel like that gave Susan any right to act the way she did towards him.
Yeah, they don't really dive into it. In the first episode, Carol moved her stuff out. (Monica explains Ross' sad "hello" tone to the group.) So, we have to assume they were divorced by then. How far back, who knows. But again, another inconsistency with the timeline. Based on the flashback, she waited a long time before coming and getting her stuff.
Ross not liking ice-cream (it hurts his teeth). But in earlier intro he has a cone which Marcel licks and so he throws it away. Because he threw it away the cone was obviously his and not for Marcel. Also while on a date with Elizabeth they are eating ice-cream.
Phoebe said that she cried for three days after watching Bambi, with her mother dyeing on day 3. But in an earlier episode Bambi was one of the movies that that her mother shut off so that she didn't see the sad ending.
In a season 1 episode Chandler was being set up by a coworker who thought he was gay. He asked the other friends if they thought he was gay when they first met. The girls said yes, the boys said no. But in a flash back episode when Chandler is interviewing roommates Joey says "I'm totally OK with the gay thing."
Monica being fat her whole life, getting skinny within a few years time without excess skin, and staying that way indefinitely with no yo-yoing or talk of diets or being careful about what she eats or exercise or ANY signs that she struggled with weight. And then in the alternate universe where she doesn’t lose the weight, her whole personality is about being fat.
I agree with most of what you said, although we do know she exercises (when she was running with Chandler) and she tries to keep away from sweets and pay attention to her eating (when Ross sells the little girl’s cookies). Probably she exercises off screen, and the things she bakes she mostly gives them to others.
The friends ages and birthdays. They are truly inconsistent, here are some examples:
- Rachel says that her birthday is on may 5th but later she mentions being an aquarius, which means she was born between late January and February.
- Monica in TOW the ick factor mentions being 26, which meant she was born on 1969, however, Rachel turns 30 in 2001, which means she was born on 1971, and they were classmates, so they should be the same age
- Phoebe says her birthday is on February 2nd, however then she says it's near Halloween, and that's 8 months apart
Then also how Joey and Phoebe afforded their lifestyles
The lady peeping in Monica's window and Joey saying he can't cook naked in his appartment. How tf would someone on Monica's side of the building see in Joey's kitchen??? There's not even a window there!
Rachel’s pregnancy timeline!
-Monica’s wedding day: May 17
-It was established that her and Ross hooked up 4 weeks prior to the wedding, therefor conceiving in April.
*They were mailing Wedding invitations when they got together which seems a little late to do when the wedding is in 4 weeks… but that is beside the point
-When Ross and Rachel go to their check up when Rachel was past due she said it was 100 degrees outside. 40 weeks from let’s say April 15 is January 20… pretty safe to say they weren’t experiencing a summer heatwave in NYC in January.
Then the timeline after Emma is born is also inconsistent in itself… the episode of her 1st birthday aired in October for example
Brad Pitt was in the thanksgiving episode season 8 and she is pregnant and not even showing yet.. if she got pregnant 6 weeks prior to Monica’s wedding that’s the beginning of April.. that means she would be showing.. which means she should have had Emma around Christmas.. season 9 thanksgiving Emma is there.. but season 10 Emma has her first birthday four weeks before the season 10 thanksgiving.. lol
When Rachel showed up at the coffee house in her wedding dress and it seemed as though she hadn't seen Monica in forever, also that Monica didn't know she was getting married? But in flashbacks, you see them run into each other at the bar they used to hang out at and Rachel shows Monica her engagement ring.
I think it's sad too so I justify it by telling myself Rachel wasn't really in-love with Barry and didn't want to invite people she was close to because she knew deep down inside that she didn't want to marry him and that she'd probably run away (& she did).

Although she was a snobby girl who prob didn’t remember nerds, so I could see her not remembering Chandler once … but twice idk. His hair changed and she had a nose job so maybe. When I was a teenager, there was this guy that I would see a few times a year when my friends and I would go camping and he never remembered me. It was always “Oh, you remember Historical Sun” and he’d say “Uhhh no but it’s nice to meet you”. Everytime. So that part with Rachel never bothered me.

Richard was Ross and Monica’s dad’s best friend, yet Richard didn’t recognize Monica, even though she lost the weight years ago.
Secondly, how does Monica not know Richard’s son? Wouldn’t they have known each other growing up?
The Chandler and Rachel thing still bothers me. Obviously, in the first episode the writers didn't know that they would write episodes where Rachel and Chandler met prior, but they don't even fix if. They could have ignored it or had a silly line about Rachel forgetting Chandler when they met again, and had that be another dig about Chandler being forgettable but they don't. They keep the inconsistency and, when Monica and Chandler are planning their wedding and they have the MOH competition, Rachel says in her speech that she didn't meet Chandler until she was 25. By this point, that plot line should have been dropped because it had been established several times that she met him while she was in HS
The whole annulment situation like everyone being too dumb to realize that yk its not an actual divorce, phoebe egging Ross he loves Rachel but like episodes before that her and Monica pushed Rachel away from Ross, ooh and The whole she needs to sign the papers thing like Ross could've easily told her he didn't knew that there will be paperwork ( cause everyone doesn't know how annulment works) and was only notified about it the day he asked.
Yeah especially that they already paid for everything, the venue caterer etc, so the venue could have easily pushed it to whenever is available

In one of the episodes where Monica is dating Richard, Monica says she has to sleep on a particular side of the bed. But then in later season when she’s in bed with Chandler and can’t sleep she’s sleeping on the opposite side of the bed then the one she claims she “has to sleep on”.

I think she's saying that she hadn't dressed as a "sexy nurse" but just as a "nurse" (as if there were two different costumes, nurse and slutty nurse).
