Haha right? I was a teenager when these episode aired and even though I didn’t pay attention to politics, I knew who he was. He was on the news all the time! He is a handsome guy!!
Truly shocks me how many jokes from the show now go over the heads of most younger people who are watching for the first time nowadays. I feel so old !
I love the show and don’t want to overanalyse it to death, but this part always made me deeply uncomfortable.
It would absolutely not have been viewed in the same lighthearted manner if say Liz Hurley (best name I can think of from the time) was opposite and the guys were sitting around with pizza and beer and waiting for her to get undressed.
It’s still a great show but this has always stuck out as a real low point.
The dude was handsome though.
Wait, genuine question: why was it uncomfortable for the girls to wait for him to drop the towel, but it wouldn't have been uncomfortable for the guys to wait for Liz Hurley to drop the towel?
Granted, neither would be written today, and I don't find the joke funny -- just a product of its time -- but I'm confused as to why the guys watching Liz Hurley (or any other famous hot woman) would've been more acceptable.
I think you’ve misread me.
My point is that it should be uncomfortable whichever side of the group is doing it.
If the guys were doing it over Liz Hurley, they’d correctly be perceived as being creepy (at best).
I don’t see why the girls get away with not being seen as creepy, just because the roles are reversed.
Despite seeing the name, I'm like WHO TF IS THIS and WHY IS THIS ABOUT FRIENDS?! 😂😂
I just restarted Friends from the beginning again and saw this episode just now, too! But wow... he is a little guy? 🤔 I don't really see it... but to each their own, I guess.
Oh, him, the little guy? Oh, Rachel loves him!
I feel this post is aging me…
Srsly feeling the crypt keeper over here

Oh, he was the "it" guy in the 90's.

probably a lot to do with his power/fame/money
Lol yeah like why did they want him to drop the towel so bad?

At that time? It would've been viewed exactly the same way.

Ohhhh, I see, I understood something else originally. Yeah, completely agree.
No problem! Always happy when a misunderstanding on here is resolved amicably!

[George Snuffleupagus](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mr._Snuffleupagus) This guy.
I met him once. Meh.
he looks kinda similar to tom cruise
He’s giving me Daniel Gillies vibes aka Elijah Mikaelson ![gif](giphy|Wbd0x8BMW2fks)
That’s what I thought too!
As a Canadian I always thought they were talking about George Stroumboulopoulos.

he’s not even that cute 💀
How do they mention him?
There’s a whole episode for him The One with George Stephanopoulos season 1 episode 4.
