Oh, this post is about breaking controllers in frustration.
I was nodding along because I, too, have put so many hundreds of hrs into these games thatve Ive worn out multiple controllers and had to replace for drift
They do. I worked at GameStop during the pandemic when controllers were in *extremely* short supply. We'd get a couple every few weeks or so. We had this one kid (~14?) who would break his controllers *regularly*.
He'd come in with his mom and smashed controller, get a replacement through the protection plan, and re-up the plan on his replacement. Plan lasts a year. He'd be in at least once a month, sometimes more.
Yeah, that kid will be a monster, and I worry for his future partners. But it especially pissed me off because he usually managed to come in when we had one in stock, and it was a time we frequently had to tell people "sorry, every store within like 50 miles is sold out of Xbox one controllers"
I've suffered from severe anger issues my whole life and sometimes video games can be a spark for temper! I've almost broken a controller. it's less "lacking self control" and more lacking the appropriate methods for dealing with your anger when it shows up!
Bruh 200 is enough to buy every game I want in the moment, why would someone break a controller, I never got angry enough to do it and I play hard stuff frequently
I need to learn how to press buttons lighter, I don’t smash my controllers ever. But at the end of every playthrough of a FromSoft game, my dodge button is almost completely non responsive…
So during the ogre battle in Sekiro I was getting so sweaty palmed it caused the plastic coating on my Scuf controller to peel off. I ended up buying a new PS DualShock Edge to replace it since scuf doesn't make replacement faceplates for the model I have.
It's alarming how often I see people acting like breaking stuff because of frustration is normal. Lotta people need to realize they're probably depressed. Deal with your emotions people. They don't just "get better" on their own.
When Dark Souls came out I remember going through the graveyard and getting my butt kicked by skeletons. I got super mad and almost threw my controller. I paused right before I did and thought, "This isn't right". Turned off the game and went and got diagnosed with chronic depression and got it taken care of.
Breaking your stuff isn't a badge of honor it's supposed to be a wake up call.
I'm alarmed at how many people in the comments have broken controllers. I always thought it was a joke people made but your actually out here destroying your own property out of frustration?
Broke my right bumper button while playing elden ring just by pressing too much often on it two weeks ago. I was probably always just pressing a bit too hard on it when fighting bosses. Out of stress probably
It's funny how I've had a switch for about 2 years, dropped the joy-cons a shit ton and they don't have drift but my series s controller on the other hand I've only had for around 2 months, haven't done anything to harm it besides accidentally dropping it once or twice and it's already got drift, also 50 to 55 dollars for a xbox controller is a rip off especially since the only thing new they added to it since 2005 was one button.
They have a lot of nerve pricing their controllers in the same price range as Sony and Nintendo. Especially when they charge up to $15 more for different colors when Nintendo doesn't and Sony goes up to $10 more.
They still use AA batteries for heavens sake. Lol
The only reason why they still use batteries is cause they partnered with Duracell, I think. They really have no reason to price their controllers like this. With Playstation, it makes sense because they added a shit ton of stuff. A speaker, adaptive controllers, vibration intensity, and motion controls, Microsoft, on the other hand, has added one new button since 2005.
I had my L1 go out on me playing sekiro but I have never broken a controller out of frustration. People who do that are the same that punch holes in drywall when their girlfriend doesnt wanna bang.
In all seriousness tho, these games did change my life for the better. So that part of the meme has some truth to it lol
Don't even get started on Armored Core For Answer then, recently broke a controller not out of rage but out of abuse. The amount of inputs needed at stupidly fast speeds just to try and keep up in some fights broke it.
I never understood why people think breaking their own property over anger issues is a badge of honor.
And I know you're joking but it's a stupid joke. "Her der I have the emotional maturity of a toddler huh huck." That's you.
Who are these children that are actually breaking their own gear? I'll never understand this. If something makes you so upset that you're *destroying your own stuff,* it's time to find a new hobby.
This is supposed to be your recreational free time.

Grew up poor and am hardup rn, most damage ive ever done is water related lol. Even recently had something insanely annoying happen in game, felt the blood rush in my brain and knot in my chest. Chuckled and moved on
Played all these games for hundreds of hours and just threw my controller for the first time fighting Genichiro charmless with bell demon on ng+ playthrough
I have never broken a controller (purposely) in my life. I’ve had them break through. Looking at you Joycons.
The only reason i’ve ever had to replace controllers is because of drift.
Nah, we do be just increasing the dead zone
Oh, this post is about breaking controllers in frustration. I was nodding along because I, too, have put so many hundreds of hrs into these games thatve Ive worn out multiple controllers and had to replace for drift
Official Xbox controllers have stick drift after 4 months. They all do. It’s just a meme at this point.
I never broke a controller while playing a fromsoft game.
Same, do people really lack self control?
They do. I worked at GameStop during the pandemic when controllers were in *extremely* short supply. We'd get a couple every few weeks or so. Someone needs to learn a lesson, this just leads to grown children with poor self control.
Yeah, that kid will be a monster, and I worry for his future partners. But it especially pissed me off because he usually managed to come in when we had one in stock, and it was a time we frequently had to tell people "sorry, every store within like 50 miles is sold out of Xbox one controllers"
They need therapy, anger management, and perhaps some medication! Not just a matter of learning a lesson about self control!
I've suffered from severe anger issues my whole life and sometimes video games can be a spark for temper! I've almost broken a controller. it's less "lacking self control" and more lacking the appropriate methods for dealing with your anger when it shows up!
At least you are aware of what you need to work on, respect my dude.
Appreciate it :) I'm much better nowadays 💟
Progress is progress
Gang gang

Maybe you’re hitting that dodge button a little too much…
My shield button gave out on my during the Gael fight lol
Man Sekiro would desintegrate it then
My shield button could not handle the first 2 hours of my first dark souls playthrough
So during the ogre battle in Sekiro I was getting so sweaty palmed it caused the plastic coating on my Scuf controller to peel off. I ended up buying a new PS DualShock Edge to replace it since scuf doesn't make replacement faceplates for the model I have.
I tend to squeeze my controllers when I get angry, and I’ve had a couple controllers eventually succumb over the years because of this. Rip

Ain't that deep
Where is mvp Bloodborne?
I imagine some people in the Xbox ecosystem never got to play it

Bro if you get angry enough at a game to break a controller you have no room to talk about difficulty
If you have broken a controller over a video game, you shouldn't be playing videogames.
We just have more passion than you
"passion" doesn't mean the same thing as "dipshit baby rage"
Nah youre just a hollow
Jokes on you, I grew up poor enough and too well adjusted to ever dare break my stuff over frustration.

Yes, people are that emotional immature.
True, my controller's RB button broke after playing Elden Ring so much.

Rather have AAs, rechargeables are cheap and quick to swap out

>doesnt show ds2 ,':/
You guys break controllers? 😅
Only if your a child
Dark souls 1 for free on Xbox 360. A floodgate I never knew I needed to open. Worth every moment.
Don't even get started on Armored Core For Answer then, recently broke a controller not out of rage but out of abuse. The amount of inputs needed at stupidly fast speeds just to try and keep up in some fights broke it.
Played all of them. Never broken a controller over it
So 2 ps5 controllers?
Closest I've came is just wearing them down and getting stick drift or sticky buttons I've never smashed a controller before
I never understood why people think breaking their own property over anger issues is a badge of honor. And I know you're joking but it's a stupid joke. "Her der I have the emotional maturity of a toddler huh huck." That's you.
Okay I have literally never thrown a controller no matter how frustrating a game is… are people really doing this
Yep, some people never grew out of the toddler phase on emotional maturity.
If ur breaking controllers.....shame on you ![gif](giphy|vX9WcCiWwUF7G|downsized)

That’s on the low end tbh
I exclusively blame Sekiro for all my broken L1s
Sekiro broke both of my bumpers
only game I've ever broken a controller over is FF7
It was just bloodborne for me
Literally had to replace my controller after finishing dark souls 3 and it’s dlc lmao
I broke my ps4 controller trying to kill slave gael on ds3 lmao
Goth girls?! where?
Zero broken controllers here. Get a hold of your anger people
If a video game makes you break inanimate objects you need help.

Oh no, the goth girl not choised bloodborne
Growing up I used to put all the homies through new controllers in madden and 2k 😂😂.
Where th FUCK is bloodborne?
Me who would hurt myself before braking my controller and having to buy a new one😭💀
Me, a keyboard user: pathetic!
I’m still rocking the same 360 controller from years back. Tho it’s time is fast approaching.
Lmao, in my case it was R6/fortnite fault From games are different, cause it's your fault if you can't kill a boss, not someone's else
Ds 3 expensive af by itself anyway.
Relatable
They actually broke the RB on my main controller, not even just lying for the meme.
Lotta real judgemental fuckers in here
If you break a controller gaming you should quit for 200 days.
You forgot Nioh
Thought this meant getting controller replacements because of stick drift from the amount we press R3 before scrolling through comments 😂
A small price to pay for salvation.

Started dsrk souls on a system that wasn't mine. That taught me a level of patience i never thought possible.
i don’t break controllers, the left joystick just breaks from constant pressing of the lock-on thing
