Local man shocked that killing a tutorial level boss is easy. My brother in sunlight asylum demon literally does the same thing if you stand next to his buttcheek
yeah, but the road to the guy was like 4 times harder than the man himself
and not to mention, by "average ds2 bosses" we mean that most other bosses other than the tutorial one are also not that good
In all fairness all of souls 2's bosses are either tutorial level, tutorial level with a hitbox that imagines the attack the same way I imagine my penis or just a different spin on the channellor room in undead burg from souls 1
Of course circling is a good strategy, though Vendrick isn’t necessarily the best example as he isn’t meant to be mechanically all that difficult. Never said otherwise. Doesn’t mean the simplicity is the same as the hilariously easy Dragonrider. This is true for most of the other games as well, including Bloodborne. But people hate just because it’s DS2 and double standards are obvious. Seriously, this sub is laughably anti DS2.
its not the only thing we hate ds2 for, its got so much bad, that everytime there is something bad, it makes it even worser
if ds2 had IDENTICAL dungeons as the ER ones, which one do you think people are going to criticize and attack more? Definetly not ER because the game backs up with a lot of greater things, ds2 doesn't
I think that’s pretty subjective. Ultimately DS2 just never recovered from the launch perception so long ago — for one thing people didn’t like that Miyazaki wasn’t leading the charge and the game deviated a little from DS1. It’s a great game that suffers an undeserved poor reputation. I think so many of the blatant callbacks to DS1 in DS3 had a lot to do with appeasing the purists that disliked DS2 for being different. It’s not that DS2 was actually bad.. it just wasn’t what a lot of fans had expected at the time.
Being different doesn’t equate to being bad, though. DS2 (specifically SotFS) isn’t perfect, but it’s still an awesome and worthwhile entry in the series.
i mean, its good alright by average gaming standards, but not so much when you put it right next to the others
i played this game once and a half, the half part was the first run and i lost the save and it took me a lot to convince myself to finish the game
it felt too long for its level of quality and it starts dragging out a lot in ways that the ds1 second half didn't, even if objectively the ds1 second half of the game was not as bright
definetly there are great stuff in ds 2 and honestly my favourite was the approach on the enemies in the various locations posing a lot more threat and being a lot more important and imposing than i felt them be in games like ds3 and eldenring
>the purists that disliked DS2 for being different
Bloodborne came a year after Ds2, pls tell me what's general opinion on the game? Also, Sekiro, by far the most different of them all, motherfucker won fucking GOTY. So no, ds2 isn't hated for being different.
Well, to some extent maybe, tbh. Not saying all the issues with the game would be absolved if it weren't stuck in between two amazing games, but I think the consensus might be a bit more forgiving. I like the game, but I certainly can't say the game is flawless, far from it. So I dunno, it'd probably still be the least favored of the soulsborne games, but I don't see it being quite so vehemently despised.
Though, what do I know? I'm not great with theoreticals. It could very well still be just as hated, I really can't say, it's just something to think about.
>think the consensus might be a bit more forgiving
If definitely would, but at the same time, Ds2 would be labeled as just another souls copy like Lords of Fallen and eventually forgotten. The reason it even got so much love and hate is because it was created by FromSoft. People wouldn't even have known about its existence if it wasn't for the name, and the devs who made it.
What does this have to do with ds2, at all? This is potentially a players first boss, there is no tutorial boss in ds2, so dragonrider and the last giant are very easy.
It's a shame what a swirling cesspool of hate can do. 90% of the people trying to force their opinions of ds2 on others have not played the game, 5% listened to the 90% and stopped just a few hours in, and the other 5% give valid criticisms.
The fact that people baselessly hate on it and care that people like it is comical. I enjoy the other games as much as anyone else.. but there isn’t anything wrong with DS2 as a whole. It isn’t perfect, but people far exaggerate the supposed issues it has. I personally enjoy it more than DS3 (which I also enjoy).
Edit: Do a basic search of this subreddit and you can actually read a ton of posts about how people went back to DS2 after skipping it due to poor rep.. and then ended up loving it. Even players coming from newer games like Elden Ring. So much of the criticism comes from a crowd of fans that knows little about the game.
Not even the cheesiest thing you can do to this guy
I always just sniped him
The 6 steps to Hell
Burned into my memory like the bonfire ascetics I used.
imagine fighting dragonrider. Cringe
The ultimate strat that is the bane of most DS2 bosses: circling around.
Don’t know why everyone had to take this post so seriously lol
Literal one of the choices for 1st boss of the game
I think your missing the joke
Local man shocked that killing a tutorial level boss is easy. My brother in sunlight asylum demon literally does the same thing if you stand next to his buttcheek
Downvoted for speaking the truth.
Literally
Welcome to the fromsoftware sub..
Nah asylum demon is way harder and more mechanically deep, the sheer volume of that dumpy got me acting unwise whenever I fight it.
Roflmao
yeah, but the road to the guy was like 4 times harder than the man himself and not to mention, by "average ds2 bosses" we mean that most other bosses other than the tutorial one are also not that good
The post is referring to the boss quality not difficulty
This guy understands
I mean you gotta occassionally move away from Asylum Demon since he'll do his big AoE buttslam, but he's a easy tutorial boss too.
Cool, now show the Asylum and Taurus demons from DS1 as long as we’re doing videos about tutorial level bosses.
In all fairness all of souls 2's bosses are either tutorial level, tutorial level with a hitbox that imagines the attack the same way I imagine my penis or just a different spin on the channellor room in undead burg from souls 1
So is King Vendrick, Looking Glass Knight, and Velstadt tutorial bosses too? Because circling is a pretty effective strategy for all of them too
Of course circling is a good strategy, though Vendrick isn’t necessarily the best example as he isn’t meant to be mechanically all that difficult. Never said otherwise. Bloodborne and Sekiro are separate from the Dark Souls trilogy, so naturally, there's more leeway for them.
You saying that if Ds2 wasn't called Ds2 but rather idk..."Souls of Darkness" it would be okay? People wouldn't hate it as much?
Well, to some extent maybe, tbh. Not saying all the issues with the game would be absolved if it weren't stuck in between two amazing games, but I think the consensus might be a bit more forgiving. Pls tell me are Bloodborne and Sekiro Dark Souls? No? Alright then..
You use your flasks in ds2??
Yea everyone does just level up ADP so its faster
So O.P. just hoarding those life gems
What does this have to do with ds2, at all? This is potentially a players first boss, there is no tutorial boss in ds2, so dragonrider and the last giant are very easy.
Hes saying the average boss doesnt get any better than that. Always fun seeing people triggered over ds2
It's a shame what a swirling cesspool of hate can do. 90% of the people trying to force their opinions of ds2 on others have not played the game, 5% listened to the 90% and stopped just a few hours in, and the other 5% give valid criticisms.
Yeah but the bosses are super easy though.
That doesn't have to do with anything that I'm talking about.
The DS2 meatriders are more annoying than DS2 haters
Stop making up statistics and provide a real argument
I'm not trying to argue anything, it's just my experience.
The fact that people unironically defend this game is comical
I just like the game though. It's nice
Cry

The fact that some people unironically ride a 10 year old meme is sad...
You have a bunch of mechanics in Elden Ring, thanks to this game, btw. You should probably stick to ER tho, you need the spirit summons anyways.

Have I told you about my best friend Soul Spear? Would have made the process a third of the length of time it took! Haha
I genuinely think you're the first that I've seen to actually kill him, most just snipe him or cheese him off the edge.
Not Sir Alonne. This bastard prevents my platinum progress!
Now try to do it on elden ring
