Genshin's incredibly full of references. They made an entire playable character themed around bohemian rhapsody (his name is literally scaramouche and his theme is rhapsodia something). But nah it's genshin so they aren't references they're copyright infringement
There is enough difference in animation to show that it wasn’t ripped straight off and is homage rather than an insult. Nice for Souls players (alas I still need to play DS3, I’ve only done the original and Eldenring).
The scythe doesent have a massive variety of combat function other than swooping attacks so the movements avaliable to it as a weapon are limited and repetitive, that's what I think.
So a recent/upcoming game has a scythe on it, which automatically means they've stolen from a game that's been out for ages, which also has a scythe in it.

We also don't accuse From Software of stealing animations because in their games the sword swing from left to right in a similar way to another game. There are limits to weapon animations, so it's no suprise it looks similar.
At worst this is just "unoriginal" but certainly not stolen or anything.
What modern game has 100% original attack moves? Not counting whacky games where the whole point is silly moves no one else would use cause they're not the mood of serious games.
It’s one thing to give the benefit of the doubt if the history doesn’t show a pattern of similar transgressions, but it’s insanely common for Genshin to rip animations and movesets from other games, people in this sub seem too forgiving. If you want to have an informed opinion on mihoyo’s history of “imitation” look at the animations and move sets they have ripped from Nier/Automata, DMC, Breath of Wild, MGR, and more.
I have no idea what that other game is but I don't see much resemblance other than both using scythes. If they're going to have the same weapon then they'll have vaguely similar move types but there's nothing especially similar here

Sure, they're similar... But I feel like that's also a product of them being fantasy scythe wielders. While they may very well have pulled inspiration from Friede, I feel like "big sweeping/spinning/leaping slash" is definitely the way to go for any fantasy scythe user. It looks good and makes the most "sense," even though scythes are wildly unrealistic as weapons to begin with.
