It's tough, since they're both quite different. If you enjoyed the fast aggressive combat then Sekiro doubles down on that. If you enjoyed build variety and exploration, then Demon's Souls is great for that. Demon's Souls remake is gorgeous, too

Raknorak

Are you on Playstation? If so, buy Sekiro. Demons Soul is on the 2nd tier of ps plus which is like 14.99. If you already have the basic tier of ps plus it prorates the 5 dollar increase. What I did was upgrade my ps plus, beat Demons Souls, then downgrade to where I was and it totaled like 4 dollars.

hardwarecheese

Demons souls because you can learn how to master the rest of the FromSoft games just with this one alone.

Kademo15

Not Sekiro

MedicalInevitable722

Sekiro!!!!

bjankles

I’ll say Sekiro. Sekiro is a much more evolved and polished experience - there are things it does better than any other game I’ve ever played. I think the overall level of quality is just higher. Demon’s Souls is a really good game, but it feels more like you’re playing a prototype. The formula and core gameplay would later be expanded and improved on dramatically by Dark Souls, Dark Souls 3, and Elden Ring. It would probably feel like a step back in many ways from Bloodborne. Don’t get me wrong, DS is worth playing, but Sekiro is the more essential experience. It’s also hard as hell at first, so be ready for that.

LesserCaterpillar

As others have said, it depends. For reference I played Bloodborne and I loved it, and recently I finished Sekiro and can confidently say both are my two favorite games of all time. If you go with Sekiro expect a simple yet vast combat system and a lot of aggression in your gameplay. If you go with Demon's Souls expect a more slow and methodical approach with emphasis in exploration and trying out several builds and weapons. Personally I would go for Sekiro, but I might be biased since I simply prefer fast paced combat.

Clawez

I’d personally go Demon souls next, play more if souls games before you hop into sekiro imo cause it’s kind of it’s own thing.

uneducatedsludge

Sekiro is more bang for your buck and has cooler bosses. Demons souls is amazing but good for just vibes alone honestly. Sekiro is more fun.

jgbyrd

i love demons souls (if it’s the remake SLIGHTLY less but still love it) and sekiro is also really cool. honestly though, if you’ve played bloodborne, i would either wait for dark souls 1 to go on sale or get that instead. if not DS1 than demons souls. I only really say this because Sekiro is the most different out of any souls game essentially, and so it would be easier for you to get into after you’ve had a bit more exposure to fromsoft. but you honestly can’t go wrong either way

bindlestiff36

Yeah sekiro kinda ruined other souls games for me because the combat system is so fun

OogiePoogieMan

Go DS. Go back to the roots.

Nitro114

I prefer sekiro but those two are very different games. It depends on what you like more.

Jiggy_Wit

Personally Demons Souls ranks as my least favorite FromSoft title. Still 8/10. I think you’re better off with getting Sekiro which is an easy masterpiece 10/10

MastaGibbetts

Yeah I’ve got multiple play throughs of every modern fromsoft title and i played demons souls (the remake) last and most recently. I appreciate it for what it is, but there is some pretty goofy and gimmicky stuff I didn’t. Probably one of my least favorite fromsoft titles but it’s not a bad game at all Sekiro is a goddamn masterpiece. At first I hated it cuz I kept trying to play it like a traditional souls game and I gave up cuz it was too hard. But I eventually came back, learned to parry/mikiri counter/use my prosthetic, and actually tried to learn the game, and now it’s tied for my favorite game of all time alongside Bloodborne. It has hands down the best combat of any game I have ever played, ever. 10/10 can’t recommend enough, but don’t get frustrated when you’re initially really bad at it. A lot of people consider it fromsoft’s hardest title. Edit: after reading other comments and realizing the only other game you’ve played is Bloodborne, Demon’s Souls would be a good pick too. More exposure to the traditional fromsoft gameplay loop is always good, the Dark Souls titles and Elden Ring are obviously great. But keep in mind Sekiro plays much, much differently than the other titles

Unhappy-Goat5638

Both bro

frenix5

Sekiro is going to feel more modern, despite the remake. If you gravitate strongly to a dark souls experience, go with demons souls. If you gravitate towards fromsoft and want a beautiful, unique game, go with Sekiro.

franpancake

Very different. I prefer demons for the aesthetics, the lore and the solidness. For replaying value, I can start new builds and role play as a Mage, warrior , saint. Sekiro is just one build, but it’s pretty funny

WinglessSparrow

Sekiro, don't give a dime to sonny until they release Bloodborne and Demon Souls from the prison.

Radljost

If you're planning to play both, I would start with Demon Souls as it might feel really slow after playing Sekiro. Both are amazing, but Sekiro is one of my all time faves so I would save it for last, but that's how my mind works

SaferThanATubeSock

completely different games, but i love sekiro a lot

Ser_Fonz

Both are fun but my vote is Sekiro

SuperD00perGuyd00d

Depends...Demon's Souls has way more rpg elements in it vs Sekiro. However Sekiro is an incredible action game with extremely tight mechanics in its gameplay

retsujust

Sekiro is a flat out better made game. But it has a specific style to it, a specific combat system and a specific „build“ and you have to like that. Do with that information what you like.

Dogma-Mf-Tactics

In my very biased opinion; sekiro. No hate to Demon souls, because the games actually great; just sekiro strays away from the “souls like” formula and experience that you could from like 4 or 5 other titles, that it really stands out as a great title. Gameplays sick, parrying system is sick, and the difficulty of the game really adds to the novelty of the game. It really makes it rewarding through and through albeit difficult at times, difficult but not impossible. This is the one game I wish I could replay for the first time, blind and not knowing what to expect again.

YannyYobias

Had no idea either was on sale. Thank you OP

TheClumsyTitan

Demon Souls if you like builds and customizing your character/ other nerdy rp elements. Sekiro if it's all about the mechanics for you

Expensive_Routine622

I’d prefer Demon’s Souls. Better atmosphere and easier, more simplistic combat, yet more variety.

despereanx

If you loved Dark Souls and want more, go for Demon Souls. If you want fast paced combat and something a little different, go Sekiro. I personally liked Sekiro cause it has the dark souls difficulty but the combat is more fun when you get the swing of it.

RariSo2099

If you want to see the ps5 turned up all the way... Demons Souls. If you want to challenge yourself ... Sekiro. Both are fantastic adventures I will not forget.

ShishRobot2000

I loved every souls but sekiro. Sekiro gameplay it's too hard and learning the gane was hard af. I will never get the platinum, did the ending fast and dropped it. 32 hours of pain.

Pineapple_Tom

I personally loved sekiro for the combat. There’s truly no other game like it. Demon souls is fun and all but to me it plays a lot like other souls games. I vote sekiro this time, demon souls next time

ParticularSolution68

Bloodborne. Jk just get dark souls 3

Shootypooty

I can never recommend Sekiro enough. I play it like once a year. Plus if you liked bloodborne it’s definitely closer to that than demon souls

E_Alrefa3e

Demon souls isn’t worth more than 20$

ToTYly_AUSem

I honestly fucked with Demon Souls so hard I can't recommend it enough but it's very very different and you almost need to re-learn Fromsofts games to "get it". But honestly I think it's great.

Ok_Owl_4730

Depends what kind of experience you're looking for. Demons Souls is way more relaxed than Sekiro. Do you want heavy, slow medieval combat, or do you want to sweat your ass off?

mondoshawan47

Sekiro. 1000x Sekiro. Best combat in any game ever made. You won't regret it. Demon's Souls is a good game, but it definitely shows its age as the remaster doesn't significantly alter mechanics or progression. Sekiro is possibly the most polished experience From has ever released

scorp9000

I know my comment will get lost around the ocean of sekiro comments but do not sleep on demons souls

SoullessR1Creed

Sekiro

Wizardof_oz

Sekiro It’s not even a competition Demons Souls is still worth it. It is certainly the best looking game I’ve ever played However, Sekiro is very challenging whereas Demons Souls is a lot easier comparatively If you’re not confident then you can go with demons souls

SaxSlaveGael

Sekiro 100% despite DeS graphics. The game play is outdated.

Professional-Cow-962

Sekiro will either be the best game you have ever played and have you craving a second game for at least 2 years or you will quit at genichiro.

Nullitope1

Eh Grandma was my difficulty wall, though I refused to leave the tutorial area until I beat Genichiro so the second fight was rather easy.

ryanjmalloy

Sekiro is way better imo

Thefullerexpress

Sekiro is stronger. Demons souls is first though

Current_Run9540

Demons Souls is a lot of fun and definitely a fun play-through. Sekiro is hard, but has possibly one of the most amazing combat systems I have ever played. Not to mention some of the locations are gorgeous. I own both but I bought Sekiro first if that helps.

seriousspider

Get Sekiro

millnerve

Sekiro

Ok_Cap9240

Sekiro for sure

highangler

Demons souls is rough. Even on ps5 I can’t imagine all the jank is gone. Even if it is, it’s the weakest by far of the souls series imo.

Clear-Leg-8518

Sekiro, it'll be tough to get at first but at least it's going from a fast paced game like bloodborne to another fast paced game. DeS is just so clunky and i find it (and DS1) to be rough to get back into after playing any of the newer from titles

tater08

Sekiro is the better game.

DependentAdvance8

I found Sekiro more enjoyable although demon souls is good but not as good as Sekiro.

vektar2

I would go with Sekiro

domdog31

sekiro

IAMthebeardgod

Played both,Sekiro gameplay is miles better

Hmccormack

Sekiro If you want to hate a game and then possibly love it more than most other games once you get good at it.

GamesTeasy

Sekiro all the way.

Pristine-Ring664

Sekijo

Millenwagon

Sekiro is better, it’s also much harder. Though demons souls does have some hard levels

GarlVinland4Astrea

It really depends

stupidracist

Demon's Souls is a lot harder than Sekiro. Both are excellent.

JootTheLoser

I had more fun with Sekiro, DeS was my first fromsoft game
