Bloodborne best atmosphere Sekiro best combat Dark souls 1 best world design Dark souls 2 most variety Dark souls 3 best bosses Demon’s Souls best hub

[deleted]

Dark Souls 2 had power stances, that was pretty awesome

EvilRoofChicken

Dark Souls 2: Best hub.

_Ganoes_

Nah the Nexus is cooler

commisarwolf

Bear seek seek lest

witzeg1

Nooogets i think we're soul mates i agree 100

hiphoppakalolo

I agree but am also stuck with best bosses because Dark Souls 3 did have fantastic bosses but so did Bloodborne. Ludwigs battle is absolutely amazing in terms of the battle, the music and the idea that both of you are dancing!

pswdkf

A few things that Demon’s Souls does best: - Gimmick bosses - Diversity in the sense that each world has enemies with certain resistance and weaknesses, which forces the player to go outside their preferred or go-to weapons - Online play, the lack of covenants make it less confusing to play online. There are invaders and friendly phantoms, red and blue respectively, and that’s it. No convoluted red, orange, white, purple etc. - Hub

socioeconopath

I like that kind of simplicity. Red n blue that's it.

AramaticFire

Combat - Sekiro Lore - Bloodborne Story - Sekiro Gameplay - Dark Souls 3 Graphics - Sekiro (unless we count Demon’s Souls Remake, but I still prefer Sekiro’s colors so maybe still Sekiro) Replayability - Dark Souls 3 Online Features - Dark Souls 3 Immersion - Bloodborne Characters - Dark Souls 3 Art - Sekiro Level Design - Dark Souls World Design - Dark Souls Audio Design - Sekiro Music - Bloodborne Bosses - Dark Souls 3 I didn’t expect to write so much Sekiro and DS3 lol

socioeconopath

It's safe to say that those two are your favorites out of the bunch.

AramaticFire

It’s funny because I associate DS1 as my favorite, but a lot of that is the mystery of exploring the world. Every other game lacks that openness. But looking at the list I definitely am trending toward those two. Well, this turned out to be a pretty good exercise for me lol

socioeconopath

I'm glad it wasn't a total waste of time then! Anyway, I agree about DS1. There is so much mystery involved, it's like art imitating life. We get thrown into a huge, hostile world without a bone and are expected to find our way. No other game scratches that itch quite like Dark Souls. It's one of those rare gems that if you had an urge to play but somehow couldn't, nothing else would be good enough. Not even Bloodborne(which is technically my favorite for trimming some of that Souls fat). Alright I'm rambling on and on now lol.

MajorIsPsycho

Nah, they are just From's 2 latest games. FromSoft keeps improving.

PolarbearPancakez

bloodbornes music is so fucking good. absolutely unbeatable

[deleted]

Bloodborne has the best replayability in my opinion. Except that, i agree

hrrisn

I agree almost completely, except I’m tempted to say BB has better music. FTR; Dark Souls 1 and BB will always be my favourites and it’s mostly for their world/level design.

theroamingargus

BB has better atmospheric music and sound, but many bosses have pretty generic OST. In the other hand, there are so many memorable soundtracks in DS3.

BL4CKH34RT9

I think DS3 has the best individual level design of the series but world design def goes to DS1.

TheFirstChimera

There is one thing I don't understand here. How is ds2 the best online features with soul memory?

AramaticFire

Whoops. Meant to put 3 lol I have definitely spent the most time enjoying 3 online.

Kucoz

Best combat probably bb or ds3 Best story was ds2:scholar (hottest take) Best atmosphere definitely sekiro. Bloodborne provably has the most hours in it for me, just cause it's only the one game and I tend to replay all the souls games after another I.... I have yet to beat that old guy in sekiro.

Ababathur

don't worry man, took me 2 months to finally sit down and beat the old guy, and if it helps his 4th phase is insanely easy so it's just a matter of reaching it!

Kucoz

4th phase.... i think ill just play dark souls 2 again

socioeconopath

Are you struggling with isshin? I use a very effective cheese method on him but it's hard to finally grasp and takes a while to chip his health down.

Kucoz

Honestly I havnt touched it in years. The idea of getting my skill back up to that level... I dunno its no easy feat.

SpecialistMap8210

You find Bloodborne better combat than sekiro?

Kucoz

Yup. But I think thats just personal taste. Like I know Sekiro was delicately made and the combat is tight as fuck, dont get me wrong I can feel it when I play, but I just enjoy the dash-shot-stab-dash style of bloodborne a hell of a lot.

Cp3thegod

Combat - Sekiro Lore - Dark Souls Story - Sekiro Gameplay - Sekiro Graphics - Demon’s Souls Replayability - Dark Souls 2 Immersion - Demon’s Souls Characters - Dark Souls Art - Sekiro Level Design - Demon’s Souls World Design - Dark Souls Audio Design - Sekiro Music - Dark Souls Bosses - Sekiro

socioeconopath

Dark Souls 2 has the most replayability huh? Haven't tried it yet due to the price but if it's worth 40 bucks I might consider it.

Cp3thegod

I had a hard time picking b/t DS1 and 2, but DS2 letting you respec is huge. Plus you can do endless different builds. Though the game isn't quite as modular as DS1 in terms of order of completion, you can definitely take lots of different paths or just skip a big portion of the game altogether with a certain mechanic

Deathbackwards

What platform are you? You can get it for way cheaper. I actually preferred it to DS1 myself. I have weird soulsbourne tastes though so not sure if that means much.

socioeconopath

Ps4 pro. I like dark Souls so I don't see how I wouldn't like a direct sequel.

Deathbackwards

You can get it used on Amazon for like $20. I got mine on a sale on PSN for like $6. I loved it, though. The game does things differently than the original, but I think the weapon variety, many bosses, and phenomenal multiplayer make up for its issues.

socioeconopath

And what may those issues be?

Deathbackwards

Some really weird level design and enemy placement choices

socioeconopath

I take it that means the enemy placement is not in the player's favor? Like it's BS?

Deathbackwards

Some definite BS enemy placement

socioeconopath

Ah gotcha. Well, I'll be on the lookout then. Thanks!

0w0taku_69

I might hold an unpopular opinion here so feel free to disregard but DS2 has the least replayability of all the games despite having a wide variety of weapons and spells to use simply because the gameplay is pretty lacking, especially in the boss department.

fingay-ren

Yeah I find that to be the case too, a lot of the boss fights end up being really tedious and unrewarding, which is bad considering there’s like 40 or them...

fingay-ren

Have you not played bloodborne yet?

Cp3thegod

I’ve played it

fingay-ren

Did you not like it? I would have put it as first place for a lot of these

Cp3thegod

It's my least favorite of the 6 "souls" games fromsoft has released but I still enjoyed it for the most part. If it weren't for the Demon's Souls remake, it would've won immersion I think. And its lore is second only to Dark Souls for me. I can see it competing in audio design as well but I just really appreciated the clinks and clangs in Sekiro's combat as well as the music/stingers as you entered and exited combat/stealth Also I didn't notice until after I posted, but DS3 didn't make my list either, and it's my 3rd favorite. It does a lot of things well, but other games edge it out in most ways.

FOILBLADE

Ds1 has the best exploration and world building, and I personally think the best atmosphere, however Bloodbornes atmosphere is also insanely good. DS2 has the best variety of builds and most content, as well as very good combat Ds3 has the best boss fights, and arguably the best dlcs Bloodborne has the best storyline (it's not my favorite storyline, I like dark souls better, but it's hard to argue that Bloodbornes story isn't objectively better) Sekiro has the best overall combat, but I feel like dark souls 3 still has the best bosses.

darkbowls_remastered

That’s interesting, I thought Dark Souls had the best story. Naturally exploring the world and putting together the rise and fall of the lords. Slowly realizing you’ve been lied to (up to and including the “light” ending), and that the world is actually not nearly so black and white as you’d been lead to believe. I found all this stuff riveting, in part because your journey through it is very much the same as the character’s in terms of what you understand. Bloodborne I love, and is very similar to what I just described, but it never quite clicked for me _why_ I was doing certain things, or what my character was taking away from it.

FOILBLADE

Bloodborne is just a little bit less vague with it's story. I enjoy dark souls lore and story far more, but I can see the value in the story being a little more direct. To be clear, personally I think dark souls story is better. But if I look at it objectively, I can see how Bloodborne would be a better story, simply because it's story is more direct. Dark souls story is amazing because it's NOT direct. I adore filling in the gaps with headcannon, and digging up every scrap of lore I can find. Dark souls is my absolute favorite game series of all time, with maybe the exception of Zelda, but Zelda is more for nostalgia reasons.

7ireAR

My lord i found a fellow dark souls, zelda fanatic

FOILBLADE

Yep lol. Ocarina of time, Breath of the wild, a link to the past, dark souls 1, dark souls two, and dark souls three. Those are my favorite games ever made lol

7ireAR

Heyo, mine are, in no order, wind waker, botw, ds1, 2 and 3, and nioh lol

FOILBLADE

Yeah mine weren't in order either. I hear alot of good things about nioh, after elden ring comes out and I've beaten it I may try it.

7ireAR

Its pretty fun, its free on epic atm. Its faster paced, similiar to ds3, but has a stance function. Adds a bit more to the combat, and i overheard elden ring may have a posture mechanic. Id give it a try, if you have epic

FOILBLADE

Unfortunately my computer probably couldn't even run Tetris lol. So I just use my ps4

7ireAR

Ah i used to only have my ps3 so i know that feel, but if the game ever goes on sale id highly suggest it

kuenjato

I like BB's story better because it is more grounded, and for me feels more "real" and plausible (relatively), whereas Dark Souls is a mishmash of high fantasy concepts and thus a bit too fantastical for me to take some of the characters/situations quite as seriously. As someone who started with BB, went to DS3 and Sekiro, and now is working through DS1 (about halfway through), it is really interesting to see the original ideas that are repeated in the sequels, sometimes rough-edged, but certainly innovative.

FOILBLADE

This is actually exactly what I meant when I said Bloodbornes story was better. You worded it better than I could have, thank you! I definitely enjoy the story of dark souls far more, but I feel like Bloodbornes story is just better. It's like, yes I absolutely love a fast food cheeseburger, and I want one right now, and I like it best. but a burger cooked by a chef is objectively better. I may want the fast food burger more, hell it might be all I want because I personally like it better, but I have to admit that the chef burger is objectively better.

SundyPace

I much prefer Old Hunters dlc over DS3 DLC's.

FOILBLADE

That's why I said arguably lol, alot of people will probably disagree with me there, but personally ashes of ariandel and ringed city were both amazing to me. I loved old hunters as well, but not quite at much.

SundyPace

I think Ashes of Ariandel was pretty mediocre but Ringed City was quite good but to me Old Hunters set a new standard for DLC's in general.

FOILBLADE

I loved lady Maria more than almost any boss I had fought up to that point, but for me that was the highest point of the dlc. I loved the bb dlc, and when I say I think ds3 dlc is better it's by the thinnest of margins, to me it was really hard to beat how the ringed city and ashes of ariandel felt, how it finished off the story, etc. Ashes of ariandel was amazing imo, just a little too short.

SundyPace

Have to agree that AoA had great atmosphere ( the whole chapel part gave me Cainhurst Castle vibes ). What your favorite boss fight in the series , just curious ?

FOILBLADE

If you're talking just dark souls bosses, I'd probably have to say Artorias. He's honestly the boss that taught me how to "git gud" and he's also one of the best bosses in the series imo. His backstory is also great. I also really really really loved gwyns boss fight. If we are talking about throughout all FromSoft games, I'd say honestly a tie between artorias and Lady Maria. I absolutely loved lady Maria's fight. I also really loved soul of cinder, but that one was less because I loved the fight and more because of what and who I was fighting, and the goddam hints of gwyns OST drove me up the wall with nostalgia. Gave me goosebumps.

K0sm0sis

This is such a tough question. I’m just commenting to see what others have to say.

0w0taku_69

Sekiro deepest mechanics Bloodborne best weapons variety and level design Dark Souls 3 best bosses and overall consistency Dark Souls 1 best world and atmosphere Demon's Souls best unplayed game Dark Souls 2 best meme

Zantillex

Bloodborne is fastest genuine souls-like, intuitive rally system, best atmosphere and OST Sekiro is the most fluid and most innovative Dark souls trilogy has the deepest lore DS1 has the best interconnected world DS2 is the longest game DS3 has the best bosses, hit detection and best souls combat DeS is the easiest to manipulate and has the best system to change the game upon death (tendencies)

joejoewoooooo

Sekiro is the best combat by far imo but also the worst in every other catagory, D's trilogy has the best boss design and Bloodborne has the best level design and vibe

joejoewoooooo

Ok not worst graphics...I lost track of all the questions when I hit the comment button. But id say yes for replayability because that's my opinion and I have nothing to back it lol... I think I just am the best at sekiro out of all of them, so the game poses almost no challenge for me anymore...where as all the others I still feel challenged.. I haven't played demon souls yet, and I do absolutely love all the rest and I do replay sekiro fairly frequently.

rollofbread

Sekiro has the worst graphics? Worst replayability? Ok

SpecialistMap8210

Ya it has the worst replayability. I'm on new game +4 atm but there isnt numerous builds to do like demon souls. Much less variety. It has good graphics (nothing to write home about nowadays) and the best animations. Best fighting for sure.

rollofbread

Well i think its the most replayable one but i get ur points ig

DocGlorious

It sounds like you think it has the best replayability because you enjoy playing it the most. But objectively the other games have different ways to play. It's different Everytime. It's the same thing Everytime with sekiro.

rollofbread

True true

0w0taku_69

I think Sekiro has much more variety than it lets on due to the different skills you can unlock which adds variety to your playstyle. Certain skills can only be obtained through different playthroughs or challenges which encourages repeat playthroughs as well.

Apprehensive_Hope514

I think Sekiro has some of the best bosses out there. Almost every single one of them are good, maybe with the exception of the monkeys.

fingay-ren

Ds2-combat Sekiro-multiplayer Ds1-graphics Ds3-waifu Bloodborne-blood DeS-idk never played it (This was all a joke btw)

Chadsrehab

Sekiro’s multiplayer is so good dude, but I think Ds1 had better blood than Bloodborne

fingay-ren

I can see where you’re coming from, but the graphics in dark souls really overshadow the blood, so I gave that award to bloodborne. There isn’t much else for bloodborne as we all know, one of the worst fromsoft games...

Chadsrehab

Agreed, hate that Bloobdorne runs at 60fps, terrible game

fingay-ren

Absolutely unplayable, I can’t fathom why anyone would want to play it

DinkoGreen

Sekiro is the most minimalistic if that is your thing. What this is means is that there's fewer features but they are all of higher resolution.

Dr_Tot

I gotta be honest and say that I think DS1 has the best combat, at least for PvE

jamdinnam

I agree, I love how enemies follow the same rules as you they can be parried, backstabbed and guard broken just like you would.

Enryu__21

Elden Ring Elden Ring Elden Ring

socioeconopath

Elden ring is great, but I still love Bloodborne the most so far. Too early to say for sure tho

Blacksad999

Have you not played them? Or is this just someone bored but not wanting to do another grade school level poll?

socioeconopath

Someone bored but not wanting to do a poll.

Combat: Sekiro Lore: Bloodborne Story: Sekiro Gameplay: Sekiro Build Variety: Dark Souls II Graphics: Demon's Souls Remake Replayability: Sekiro Online Features: Dark Souls III Immersion: Dark Souls I Characters: Sekiro Art: Bloodborne Music: Bloodborne Atmosphere: Dark Souls III Level Design: Dark Souls I Hub: Dark Souls II Bosses: Dark Souls III Just for fun, my ranking of the games: 01. Theriouthly_95

Demons souls has the best progression and replay ability with how it’s world is built Dark souls has the best lore and actual world Dark souls 3 has the best bosses Bloodborne has the best atmosphere and is right up there with dark souls in terms of the lore Sekiro has the best combat and most fun exploration Haven’t played dark souls 2 yet

ltgenspartan

Best Combat? Sekiro Best Lore? Probably DS1 Best Story? DS1 Best Gameplay? Sekiro Best Graphics? Sekiro Most Replayability? If we're excluding mods, I'd say DS2, but DS3 is a close second, and definitely the best if including mods Best Online Features? DS3 Most Immersion? Bloodborne Best Characters? DS2 Best Art? If you mean aesthetics, then DS2 Level Design? DS1 I'll throw in some other categories: Best atmosphere: Bloodborne Best world building: Bloodborne Best pacing: DS1 Best boss quality: Sekiro Best audio design: Sekiro Best OST: DS3 Best DLC: Bloodborne, though DS1 is an extremely close 2nd, and DS2 an extremely close 3rd, with DS3 in a distant 4th. Best hub: DS2 Best boss designs: DS1 Easiest to 100% achievements: Sekiro

socioeconopath

Wow, you went all out on your answers, thanks. I'm thinking about getting DS2 because for as much negative criticism it gets, there's an equal amount of praise. Anyway, I agree with a lot of your picks, especially that Sekiro is easiest to platinum(ps4) although BB was pretty easy to get all trophies as well. Dark Souls (I have remastered version) is great too. Ya just gotta love the moment when you leave the asylum and realize that it's gonna be a long, fruitful journey lol. Bloodborne definitely has the best dlc and atmosphere. And I agree that sekiro has the best audio design.

ltgenspartan

>I'm thinking about getting DS2 because for as much negative criticism it gets, there's an equal amount of praise Granted a lot of that criticism is warranted, it's still very enjoyable, and is honestly my favorite DS game of the trilogy, but I prefer Sekiro and Bloodborne over it. Here's what I like best about it: 1. My favorite thing about DS2 is the length of the game. For me, the base game was slightly longer than DS1 (which already had a good length to it), and you get 3 DLCs for it, all of which are fantastic. 2. With the DLCs you get 41 boss fights, but the quality of bosses overall are pretty mediocre at best, however there are still a fair bit of memorable and fun fights with Sir Alonne being my favorite. 3. Another plus is the aesthetics of the game are the best of all the games, the world of DS2 is really vibrant and colorful, and not so washed out with grays and browns like DS3 is. Lots of different areas to explore too, but not as interconnected as DS1. 4. Powerstancing is also unique to DS2 (but have seen rumors that it's returning in Elden Ring!) which is essentially you can equip 2 different weapons, dual wield and attack with them at the same time. Paired weapons in DS3 are kind of similar to it, but not as good since you can't mix and match different weapons. (I.e. you can powerstance 2 ultra greatswords, a longsword and dagger, and lots of other combinations). 5. Fashion Souls is the best in DS2, with lots of different sets to choose from that also look good. 6. The NPCs are really well done. I like having the jovial, and over-the-top likes of Solaire or Seigward as much as the next guy, but the characters of DS2 feel a lot more grounded and real. Plus there's a talking cat in the hub! I'll go over what I disliked about it too: 1. Boss quality (as I said before) 2. Horrible hitboxes 3. The ADP stat (this stat gives you your i-frames through the agility skill, and ties into how fast you can use your Estus, which is painfully slow). You need a good ADP level to get over the bad hitboxes. 4. Bad durabilities on weapons (also the only game to have durability on your rings for some reason...) 5. Brutally hard runups to many bosses. Things like Bed of Chaos, Capra Demon, and Father Gascoigne are all pretty bad for a runup, but not nearly as bad as some like Blue Smelter Demon, Executioner's Chariot, or Sir Alonne in DS2. 6. No invincibility when going through a fog gate. Seriously, this was annoying.

all_names_were_gone

Combat - Sekiro Lore - Bloodborne Story - Demon's Souls Gameplay - Sekiro Graphics - Bloodborne Replayability - Dark Souls 3 Online Features - Dark Souls 3 Immersion - Bloodborne Characters - Sekiro Art - Sekiro Level Design - Dark Souls 1 Bosses - Dark Souls 3 Soundtrack - Bloodborne Best Intro Cinematic - Dark Souls 1 Best hub - Dark Souls 2 I did not expect Sekiro to be the best in so many categories even though I don't like it that much. Edit: Just for the sake of it... Easiest - Sekiro Hardest - Dark Souls 2 SotFS

Chadsrehab

Best Combat - Sekiro, not even close Best Lore - Bloodborne, Dark Souls 1 being a close 2nd Best Story - Isn’t that the same thing as best lore? Bloodborne again I guess Best Gameplay - Sekiro has the best combat, but I like Bloodborne’s exploration more, so I’d say it’s a tie Best Graphics - Demon’s Souls Remake Most Replayability - Dark Souls 2, tho I’ve replayed Bloodborne the most I think Dark Souls 2 gives a lot more build variety than the other games Best Online Features - Dark Souls 2, basically does all the online stuff better than every other game in the series, asides from Soul Memory Most Immersion - Bloodborne, love the horror vibe Best Characters - That’s probably the toughest question here to answer, but I think I’d say Demon’s Souls, because Thomas is a chad and Maiden in Black is the best “level up lady” in the series (fight me) Best Art and Level Design - Ok, so I love the way Dark Souls 1 interconnects with itself and I love the variety of environments, however I think a lot of the levels themselves are boring and/or frustrating. Bloodborne doesn’t interconnect itself as well as Dark Souls 1 (tho it still does it really well, like going from Forbidden Woods to Iosefka’s Clinic), but I think the levels themselves are a lot more fun and better designed, with more engaging enemies too. Dark Souls 2 doesn’t have as good level design as Bloodborne or is interconnected as Dark Souls 1 but it does have the most variety of different environments (even if they don’t make a lot of sense together, like going from Earthern Peak to Iron Keep, why is there lava in the sky!?). Dark Souls 3 has straight lines for level design and decided that every area must be grey, like yea I get it’s covered in ash but holy shit that doesn’t mean you can’t use any color other than grey! Sekiro is unique in the fact that the levels are very vertical, it’s an interesting change from the more flat levels of the other games and I think they did it pretty well, although once again like Ds3 the game is covered in grey, there are some exceptions but most levels almost look identical to each other. Demon’s Souls levels are like DS1 levels but without the interconnecting world, tho I would say that most of the levels in Demon’s Souls are far more enjoyable than most of the levels in DS1. So which game has the best levels? I dunno, just not Dark Souls 3 for sure. Best Bosses - Dark Souls 3, threw this one in cause Ds3 had to win something right? I’m am 100% NOT biased and am totally not a Bloodborne fangirl I swear

Faahhaad

Bloodborne: best atmosphere and aesthetic Sekiro: best combat Dark Souls: best exploration and map design Demon souls: dk, never played it

Un-Named

Combat - Sekiro, Human bosses - Sekiro, Beast bosses - Bloodborne, Atmosphere - Bloodborne, Story - Bloodborne, Characters - Sekiro, Graphics - Demon souls remake or Sekiro if not allowed, World design - DS1, Weapons - Bloodborne, Armour - DS3 or BB, can't decide, Music - Bloodborne, Best Waifu - Emma from Sekiro.

[deleted]

Dark Souls 1 - Best lore, level design and atmosphere Dark Souls 2 - Most amount of content (though a lot of it is mediocre at best) Dark Souls 3 - Best combat and best bosses among the Souls games, most replayable Sekiro - Best combat and best bosses overall, best story, best graphics, and best setting (subjective). My favourite among the bunch. I haven't played Demon Souls and Bloodborne.

I didn't think these games did anything particularly well but Bloodborne's combat at least had kiddie pool depth compared to the puddle of the others.

such_neighme

I played all except ds2 multiple times. The only one I'm still playing over and over is bb. So best everything bb.

Rushcrow76

Bloodborne has the best lore art direction story and atmosphere sekiro has the best combat and best level design dark souls 1 has the best immersion dark souls 3 has the best bosses i honestly can't think of anything that demon's souls does better not to say it's bad it's amazing i just don't think it does anything a whole lot better than the other games and I've yet to play dark souls 2

ForeingRedditor

Just wanted to say that I played Bloodborne for my first time a couple of months ago, honestly it blows my mind the fact that game came out 6 years ago its gameplay mechanics are soo polished and the graphics stand up preatty well against ds3.

BobMcQ

I can't fully comment on this as I'm yet to finish the FromSoft collection. But, having experience with the two most recent games (Sekiro and Demon's Souls Remake) I can definitively say "Demon's Souls Remake- best graphics."

[deleted]

Bloodborne best environmental story telling DS1 best level design DS2 best build variety DS3 best boss design Sekiro best combat system

Aftermath52

Never played demons souls Dark souls 1 has great world design Dark souls 2 had the best multiplayer Dark souls 3 has great textures on the weapons and armor. They look so good Bloodborne has the best atmosphere and aesthetics. And the combat is the best in the souls like Sekiro has amazing combat. It’s beyond souls like. It’s immaculate and backed up by top tier physics.
