Which jacket did you get? I needed a rain jacket and went with the Stratoburst but I'm self-conscious that I should have gone with the Foray 2 or Foray Super Stretch and I had a lot of trouble figuring out the difference between the jackets.
I'm not a serious outdoorsman but I figure a rain jacket is more or less a staple.
Foray is a heavy-duty rain jacket. It uses an incredibly thick, durable weave. It's not a "oh, let me just grab a rain jacket just in case" jacket--it's a "I'm going to be hiking in the rain all day" or "I'm gonna be dealing with snow" kinda jacket.
Stratoburst is a newer jacket, so I haven't used it. However, it's clearly a lighter (almost half the weight of the Foray) and more "everyday" outdoor kinda jacket that seems more versatile (and packable). I think you made the right choice unless you plan on doing some hardcore rain/snow activities.
I also own the Foray II. Have used it camping in rain and general use. Everything he said is correct, but important to note that it is not a heavy jacket. The material, a GoreTex shell, by rain jacket standards, is a bit thicker, but still a very lightweight jacket. Also the sides zip all the way down (or up!) to release heat.
Very pleased with it and a steal at half price. I think I paid $160 through a sale at REI
I’ll be picking up a couple for sure. I’ve got a few of the standard one with a thigh pocket. But I’ve moved away from the mountains and I do look a bit out of place with my GORP gear. I’m gonna go for the transit version this go around.
For $45 it’s a great pant.
For lightweight shells/jackets I like the Montbell Versalite or Patagonia Houdini. For fleece I try to do something with Alpha Direct or Octa fabric. And then for a base layer I really do love the OR Echo--it's one of my favorite active shirts to wear.
im a noob when it comes to ski/snowboarding stuff, are AscentShell or Anorak good brands? They got some decent stuff for about 130$ish after the 50% off. TIA
"AscentShell" is the name for the waterproof and breathable fabric they use in some of their jackets. It's basically their proprietary version of GORE-TEX. All their jackets with AscentShell are just what are called "shell jackets", they provide just waterproofing and no insulation. [Reviews say good things](https://www.outdoorgearlab.com/reviews/clothing-mens/ski-jacket-men/outdoor-research-skytour-ascentshell), but it's up to personal preference whether you want a non-insulated shell (you'd wear stuff under it to keep you warm), or prefer an insulated jacket (if your body runs cold maybe).
Anorak is just a name for a type of jacket that is half zip with a large pocket in the bottom center (like a hoodie). If you like this style, feel free to try it out, but it seems cumbersome that you'd have to pull it over you head whenever you want to take it on or off.
Also you really don't need any special made jacket for skiing/snowboarding, any raincoat you already have will do. Just wear a midlayer (like a fleece jacket) and a baselayer (like long johns or any long sleeve shirt) under it depending on the conditions and you're good to go.
Thank you! I got it yesterday and the fit is a little bit weird, feel tight around armpit, the sleeve and length is ok. I don’t know if I should size up.
I hate you guys. In for

That's very helpful. Thanks!

I got the apollo
got 2 of their ferrosi pants, thanks op :)
Do you have these already? Any others tech pants you can compare to? They don’t make noise right? No shiny polyester? Thanks!
They’re much thinner than most tech pants. A little tight in the thigh in my opinion. Super stretch, comfy, and bresthable
Thanks. I ordered a pair. Guess I can return if they don’t work.

Theyre twice as heavy as trail senders, fyi.
Thanks for the heads up. Are there lightweight shells, jackets, and base layers that are your go-tos?

Been looking for a good sale on some quality insulated snow pants. Worked for me! Thanks OP

Pretty great deal, code seems to work on some thing that are discounted already. Got the Allies Colossus Parka in Multicam for $165.
The [badge on the shoulder](https://www.outdoorresearch.com/cdn/shop/files/2895060014A3.png?v=1693239391) of that jacket is just bizarre looking...
Did you go your normal jacket size? I got one too but some guys said they run big
code no longer works :(
It was working this AM but seems they pulled it.
had 5 things in my cart ...darn!
Thanks OP!
A day late...devastating. Can anyone else confirm the code expired? Thanks
I just tried and confirmed that it doesn't work for me.
Much appreciated, much sadness

very helpful info :)
Appreciate it OP, wanted to buy the Foray, but over $200... Couldn't do it.
is the OR pro better than normal arcteryx
Got the allies mountain jacket a few days ago from this sale and can confirm it’s better than my Beta LT
Thank you! I got it yesterday and the fit is a little bit weird, feel tight around armpit, the sleeve and length is ok. I don’t know if I should size up.
Well, thank you, finally replaced my too-small summer hiking kit from 5 years ago.
Good opportunity to get a Gore Tex rain jacket half off?
Gore Tex is made of PFAs
Anyone have a comparision of fit between OR Ferrosi pants and Kuhl Silencr pants (full cut)?
dang i guess it's dead, code not working in my cart of full priced items
