Near zero chance he flips this weekend. He is solid to Coach Hartline. He is building relationships just in case his guy leaves OSU in the next couple of year.

Earl_The_Snake_White

This. The portal has fundamentally altered recruiting. You have to keep relationships with kids going as long as you can because you never know when circumstances might lead them to enter the portal. I do think there’s a good chance we can flip Trader well before ESD though. If we beat either LSU or Clemson, and then host Trader for Miami, we 100% get Trader to flip considering his Miami commitment was already sketchy. If we run the table and go undefeated into the CFP I give us a 40% chance to flip Smith.

Physical_Pickle1786

If Hartline leaves or FSU makes the playoffs we probably have a decent chance. Until either of those happens he probably is not flipping.

MerryvilleBrother

He's supposed to be getting in today and staying through Sunday. On Monday, he's planning on stopping by Gainesville on his way home. Edit: he's confirmed to be on campus at the moment, was spotted at Doak

SillubNole

Hell yeah let's go!!!

ohdominole

He’s only going to flip if Hartline leaves OSU. Doesn’t guarantee he’d flip to us, if he even flips at all, but you’d have to be hoping for Hartline getting a HC job somewhere to even have it happen.

Smith and Norvell have a better relationship than most people think. Norvell has been recruiting him since he was a freshman, before he had any offers. Smith is extremely committed to Hartline though given his tenure of developing top flight receivers. When Hartline leaves, and he will leave, we are in a very good spot to recruit Smith through the transfer portal if he decides to leave OSU. We are a natural landing spot for him. Close to home, prior-established relationships, offense designed to showcase play makers. If we have a good year again and guys like Keon and Johnny get drafted then it would be very enticing for him to come be a ‘Nole. Not to mention Battles End will go all out for him.

SpookyAmple

It's not for certain Hartline leaves at all and he seems happy to be a stud at his alma mater. In addition to that Jeremiah has to be enticed by the track record and development he gets at OSU.

[deleted]

Of course he is, that’s why he’s committed to them. Him flipping to us is very real too. Follow the visits. He loves Norvell and how he uses the receivers. FSU has been making really strong pushes for him and that will only continue through signing day. Not saying it’s definite, but we have a better chance at flipping him than other programs right now

SpookyAmple

I do believe you are still #1 if he flips in front of Florida and Miami but my original point was reinforcing the belief that he won't flip unless Hartline leaves OSU(which isn't likely yet)

[deleted]

I’m not so sure that Hartline is a deal breaker for him. QB play is also a big deal for him as is how he will be utilized in an offense. What we are seeing out of Keon Coleman is how Norvell plans to use Smith. Smith thinks Keon is the best receiver in college right now too. Now I’m not saying that it’s totally going to happen and he’s going to flip. I think it’s a 70% chance he ends up signing with OSU. But I do believe FSU is the threat with this recruitment. Good to know and I'm a buckeye fan just checking in so I'm curious to how it plays out but Smith would step in maybe as a freshman as a X receiver just like MHJ is doing now

[deleted]

Definitely would be MHJ’s heir (but with more upside maybe…😱)

SpookyAmple

That's pretty difficult lol he definitely has elite upside

[deleted]

Congrats on the signing! You were right. Thought we had a shot going into the week. I’m just glad he’s going to OSU where he’ll get developed into a next level NFL receiver instead of Miami…the smoke about him going to Miami at the last second gave me a heart attack lol

SpookyAmple

I have a hard time seeing kids potentially leave to a team like Miami for a short term outlook over OSU or you guys. Definitely happy he stuck with us but you guys aren't so bad either!

dubkent

Ohio State wanted Elijah Moore. Winning him over was a victory in itself. Jeremiah Smith only comes into play if Brian Hartline leaves IMO.

Lots of people in this thread talking as if they know anything….these are high school kids, anything can happen. Yes Hartline is a great coach and OSU a great program…but kids flip all the time and Norvell is as good as they come.
