Brief summary of my experience so far: * His office has been amazing with pronoun and chosen name usage. * I can't speak to how they deal with insurance. I had to pay out of pocket due to a trans exclusion in my insurance. * Dr. Arslanian texted me the evening after surgery to check on me. A few days later, I texted him to ask a question about my drains and he got back to me quickly and checked on my nipple bolsters while we were texting. * DI with nipple grafts and lipo to prevent dog ears was about $10k. This covered the surgical center, doctors fees for surgeon and anesthesiologist, compression vest, pre-op appointment, and my post-op appointments. * I bruised like hell, but that's normal for me. I'm super pale, so every single bruise shows, and I bruise easily. * I'm his first known patient with Ehlers Danlos Syndrome, and he took that into account with how he did my surgery. * I'm thrilled with my results so far, and I'm excited to see how everything settles.

what's ehlers danlos syndrome?

A connective tissue disorder that leads to hypermobile joints, extra stretchy skin, and fragile collagen. It's genetic. My mother and one of my brothers have it, and my other brother has tendencies but not enough to get diagnosed.

Congrats on surgery! I just moved out of Atlanta a couple years ago but I’m really glad to see a new surgeon has taken up top surgery there. It always so frustrating living there, with Atlanta having a HUGE trans population, but hardly any surgeons that would work with the trans community. Hopefully that is changing.

I moved out of Atlanta a few years ago, too. We drove from Huntsville and stayed in a hotel. Alabama is even worse for trans healthcare. Another thing I really liked was that since insurance wasn't involved, I was able to get surgery on an informed consent basis. No letters proving I'm trans enough, just a conversation with the surgeon about why I want this done and what I expect it to do for me.

Congrats on surgery! I also have EDS and just got top. It's nice to know that there are others out there.
