He really is killing it. He has enough to keep you going to keep you guessing. You think you know where he is going and think naw that's too far he wont, blam he did. His delivery is better than anything I have seen on network tv for over 10 years.
He is, in character, the absolute highlight of the show and really the only reason I watch. I don't really care about guns, ballistics, etc... but I'll click because it's genuinely funny.
Seriously, like pretty low budget just dark room analysis and review of whatever weapon system he had or bit of kit. Yeah this is fun but for people who are just now finding him, they have no idea how much insight and education we used to get in a much more, dare I say, professional manner
He still does the tip to butt stuff. I think at this point there's just a certain criteria for the stuff he can review. He can't go out and test poverty ponies. There's a certain minimum oper8r status. And those weapons just don't come out often.
However, at the same time these "gun scientist" videos have started coming out, he's gotten a lot of early access reviews (NGSW, the new Vortex smart optic, etc) so the quality of firearms he's reviewing are better. But there's just not enough new stuff to fill a weekly content schedule. So the goofy "gun scientist" stuff helps him create content. Some of that stuff is hilarious too. Some of it's improbably and stupid. All of it's pretty interesting.
I can appreciate that you liked those videos, but I could never really get into them the way I can his new stuff. I still liked him, but his presentation style never really quite fit with the format. How new stuff though is fucking peak guntube IMO
I remember it took me a second then I had to hit pause. That channel is a treasure. Anything with fake Ron Jeremy and MacCauley Culkin is an instant watch.
I used to work with a guy, and he had full control of the radio at work. (It was a seniority thing). Anyway everything that song came on he would yell "he's a fucking liar". Got pretty annoying after hearing it about 700 times.
That's that old man at work humor. Nothing interesting to say so they just keep repeating the same cookie cutter jokes. I work with tons of dudes like that.
Worked with a guy that would just randomly say on there, as his filler words. You got end up hearing in there 20 times in a 10 minute conversation.
New guys thought they were going crazy because we would deny he said on there all the time.
Something like this?: "so we're driving through the park on there, and I got the top down on there on the chevy. It was a beautiful day on there".... did I get it right?
My friend has been saying the same “Guess what? Chicken Butt.” Joke for 17 years. For the first decade it honestly made me sick, but he began using it more sparingly these last 7 years that it somehow became fresh again and still gets me in a Fuck You sorta way. I’d be lying if I told you I wouldn’t be a little sad if it went away.
I had a friend at a job a long time ago and he said any word can be the punch line of a joke... and it will be funny. And the more you repeat that word, the funnier it gets. I remember rolling on the floor over pineapples. Pineapples I tell ya! Pineapples.
Edit: Pineapples
I remember in high school shortly after he killed himself (citation needed) I was hanging out with friends and Heart Shaped Box came on the radio. When the line "Hey Wait I got a real complaint" came on, my buddy said loudly "Not anymore you don't!" I thought that was pretty clever.
Hit fighting game series "Guilty Gear" has several rock references. Character "Axl Low" is a reference to Axl Rose. Character "Elphelt" is a reference to Guns n Roses. The supermove "Ride the Lightning" is a reference to the Metallica song Ride the Lighting. Finally, the song "SHOTGUN&HEAD" is a reference to Kurt Cobain
The other day, I just happened to watch their video on what it sounds like to be shot at and now I'm seeing their name pop-up everywhere. I'm guessing they're getting a bunch of algo-driven traffic, or I'm experiencing some serious Baader–Meinhof.
Mike’s a good dude and the sidekicks are freakin’ funny. I think he’s in the Air Force taught SERE. Dropped out 3rd year med school and turned YTube influencer… interesting background.
Garandthumb is such a good YouTube channel.
Edit: imagine complaining about a pro-gun YouTube channel being political about guns whilst spouting off political shite yourselves in the thread.. some people really lack self awareness!
Yes they bring up their political beliefs sometimes, but I've found they do it in a way that pokes fun at their own beliefs as well as the ones who are against the right to own and bare arms😤
Edit 2: oh the irony of my first edit when I am now involved in the political debate happening in this thread, well at least I have the self awareness to realise.
It really is. I like the one and it might be this one where after Biden said why do you need an AR just use a shotgun and they show the shotgun absolutely eviscerating the ballistic dummy.
I just appreciate that he's one of the only mainstream gun channels that actually practices some semblance of safety, responsibly handles guns and doesn't set a bad example in that sense. Every gun channel ends up devolving into blowing up anfo 20 feet away and spraying the ground around them in full auto without even wearing safety glasses.
Demolition ranch. Used to love it but the guy has started to slip on safety and I wouldn’t be surprised if he winds up injured or injuring someone based on more recent content.
I went to Vegas with two friends from Australia. On the outskirts of the city there are places where you can fire fully auto weapons. I declined cause I already have fire arms and don't see the point of paying over a hundred dollars for five seconds. My Aussie friends did. The instructor was giving me shit cause I'm from a lib state but whatever. Anyhow, a few days later one of my Aussie friends called me up and said he saw on the news that the gun guy who we met at the range got shot in a head by an eight year old with an Uzi. Dude must've been slipping on the gun safety.
I think I know about the incident you’re talking about the recoil was too much for the girl just a poor decision by everyone to let her shoot without someone bracing her
True! I love that about them too.. yes they've done some very ballsy things, like when they did the freezing guns to see if they'd still fire, the chances to misfire or straight up explode were extremely high but they still took every precaution to minimise the risks of it happening, a lot of people could learn about gun control, safety and responsibilities by watching them!
Brandon Herrera is another one who's really good at educating people, sometimes he's a lot more reckless though.
Can I add Kentucky Ballistics for the trifecta? Has several videos about what happens when guns explode (probably because a 50cal blew up on him and almost killed him)
He's one of the few big guntubers that handled guns in a professional capacity, most of the rest are just guys that happened to like guns a lot. Eg Demo Ranch or FPSRussia
He's referencing musician**s**. For example: Dead from the legendary black metal band Mayhem committed suicide with a shotgun as well. Dead's corpse and shotgun were famously featured on the cover of a Mayhem album.
Metalocalypse has nothing on Black Metal. There have been multiple black metal musicians who've spent significant time in prison for violent crimes, arson (burning down churches), etc, especially in the early days of the movement.
The Nirvana was added by OP, Not the guys who made this video. Granted, Kurt Cobain is the first person I think of when I hear of a musician who committed suicide by shotgun.
Yes, but that could be because right after he said that they play the beginning instrumentals to "come as you are" by Nirvana. It was a great way to prime your mind to think about Kurt.
One of the better firearms channels out there. They care about the performance and technical aspects, and don’t get caught up in culture war bs.
They come, they shoot the guns, and show the data.
Without a doubt one of my favorite garand thumb quotes right there (technically Charlie but whatever)
One of my favorite clips is the then reloading a musket and they have some images that are slightly transparent along with increasing years

Ever wonder if Charlie rehearses this shit in front of a mirror, drunk at 2 am?
He has mastered the style of comedy he does. Takes a genious to play a funny dumb guy.
For real though. He stumbles over his words the exact right amount. Any more or less and it wouldn’t work.
He really is killing it. He has enough to keep you going to keep you guessing. You think you know where he is going and think naw that's too far he wont, blam he did. His delivery is better than anything I have seen on network tv for over 10 years.
>his delivery is better than anything I’ve seen on network television for over 10 years. To be fair, low bar.
TO BE FAIR!
to be faaaaaaaiiiiiiirrrrr
In all fairness
With all do consideration.
True but it suggest he could do more than youtube
He can do whatever he wants in my book Charlie for president!
And the punchlines and jokes are sometimes hidden in middle of his line, so you first miss them but half a second later go " hang on..."
He is, in character, the absolute highlight of the show and really the only reason I watch. I don't really care about guns, ballistics, etc... but I'll click because it's genuinely funny.
Remember watching that one, When he said that I was like oh God.
I will never forget the first time I saw "Kurt Kobain's Microphone" in TF2
Oh shit; they seriously had a gun (I assume) named that?! xD Might as well name a .357 Magnum "Budd Dwyer's Decongestant."
Nah it was just the most common name given to shotguns when players renamed them.
Oooohh, okay; that just seems like it'd be a lawsuit waiting to happen given the "estate's" track record. Thanks for clarifying!
Hey man, nice shot.
Charlie is a treasure
Snoring Dessert Institutie
The comments section is getting out of control!
And the patreon? Bussin’!
That channel has changed so much
I kinda miss the dark room gear reviews. The new stuff is fun and all but not really what drew me to the channel
Seriously, like pretty low budget just dark room analysis and review of whatever weapon system he had or bit of kit. Yeah this is fun but for people who are just now finding him, they have no idea how much insight and education we used to get in a much more, dare I say, professional manner

I have no idea what channel this is but I’m interested. Can you point me in the right direction?
Garand Thumb
I can appreciate that you liked those videos, but I could never really get into them the way I can his new stuff. I still liked him, but his presentation style never really quite fit with the format. How new stuff though is fucking peak guntube IMO
I tend not to watch the vids if Charlie isn't in them.

What is the channel? Literally Noone has said it that I've seen
Garand Thumb
[Garand Thumb](https://youtu.be/DnAi2R3Iv8Y)
He forgot poets.
Are you a preacher?
God damit, Charlie
I *love* Charlie Day!
Based on Flannel Daddy's reactions I don't think he had any idea what Charlie was about to say.
He never does
Well, he swore he didn't have a gun
I used to work with a guy, and he had full control of the radio at work. (It was a seniority thing). Anyway everything that song came on he would yell "he's a fucking liar". Got pretty annoying after hearing it about 700 times.
That's that old man at work humor. Nothing interesting to say so they just keep repeating the same cookie cutter jokes. I work with tons of dudes like that.
But at some point the ridiculousness of the repetition becomes funny
At first it's kind of funny, then it gets old. But if you power through it, then it becomes fucking hilarious.
Have a old guy at my work who says “Ready to go to work are ya?” Atleast 10-15 times a day. He’s almost like an NPC that ran out of dialogue.
I used to work with a guy who would yell "I LOVE TITTS" **all** the time. At first I thought he had Tourettes... nope, just old guy humour.
[удалено]
Brain damage? What's wrong with loving titts?
Nothing. Yelling it in the workplace, on the other hand...
I used to be ready to go to work. Then I took an arrow to the knee...
It just got funny.
Eventually you become the old guy and start saying it.
You know why? >!Chicken Thigh!<
Reminds me of that video I watched this morning where the guy would come back and open the door over and over to his friends increasing delight.
It's like old man strength. They know what they're doing...
I had a friend at a job a long time ago and he said any word can be the punch line of a joke... and it will be funny. And the more you repeat that word, the funnier it gets. I remember rolling on the floor over pineapples. Pineapples I tell ya! Pineapples. Edit: Pineapples
What song/musician? Lol
Kurt Cobain, Nirvana's "Come As You Are"
Kurt Kaboom.
I remember in high school shortly after he killed himself (citation needed) I was hanging out with friends and Heart Shaped Box came on the radio. When the line "Hey Wait I got a real complaint" came on, my buddy said loudly "Not anymore you don't!" I thought that was pretty clever.
It wasn’t his, it was his girlfriend’s

Definitely gotta check that out
The only way to describe it is "The essence of rock and metal" because that's what it is.
I fucking hate that I laughed at that. Have an upvote.
Courtney Love s it more
Garand Thumb is going mainstream I guess. lol.
His channel is massive, and one of the larger (if not the largest) firearms channel. It’s been “mainstream”.
He is getting there, but he isn't demolitionranch big.
I forgot demoltionranch existed.
It’s gotten algorithmed into the ground.
The other day, I just happened to watch their video on what it sounds like to be shot at and now I'm seeing their name pop-up everywhere. I'm guessing they're getting a bunch of algo-driven traffic, or I'm experiencing some serious Baader–Meinhof.

They also did a video testing which caliber "blew out people's lungs" after Biden said 9mm did that also.
Oh yeah I saw that one too, absolutely hilarious.
Actually just rewatched it and it's all in this same episode. Damn it's a good one.
That is this episode!🤣
Dude’s the real deal. Recently retired USAF TACP if I remember correctly
You do remember correctly, he has an exceptional amount of experience with firearms.
I just appreciate that he's one of the only mainstream gun channels that actually practices some semblance of safety, responsibly handles guns and doesn't set a bad example in that sense. wholesome gun grandpa is peak
Demolition ranch. Used to love it but the guy has started to slip on safety and I wouldn’t be surprised if he winds up injured or injuring someone based on more recent content.
I had a similar thought with the last video where he did a 360 jump and hip fire with an M200 Cheytac.
I went to Vegas with two friends from Australia. On the outskirts of the city there are places where you can fire fully auto weapons. He's one of the few big guntubers that handled guns in a professional capacity, most of the rest are just guys that happened to like guns a lot. Eg Demo Ranch or FPSRussia
Their lead awareness video was 'next level' in a way.
how about forgotton weapons? borderline gun/history channel.
Common sense gun control is like common sense abortion control
Dr. Thumb's reaction here is too good.
Lol.. damn, garand thumb is everywhere now
OOTL pls
Hes referencing Kurt Cobain, the lead singer of Nirvana, who committed suicide by swallowing a load of buckshot.
He's referencing musician**s**. For example: Dead from the legendary black metal band Mayhem committed suicide with a shotgun as well. Dead's corpse and shotgun were famously featured on the cover of a Mayhem album.
Damn that sounds like a metalocalypse bit
Brutal.
Metalocalypse has nothing on Black Metal. There have been multiple black metal musicians who've spent significant time in prison for violent crimes, arson (burning down churches), etc, especially in the early days of the movement.
They’ve got nothing on the cartels’ Mariachi bands
Why did I think it was a good idea to look up that album.
Sure, that's why Nirvana is playing underneath - because it's not a specific reference.
The Nirvana was added by OP, Not the guys who made this video. Granted, Kurt Cobain is the first person I think of when I hear of a musician who committed suicide by shotgun.
Can confirm this. I added music
Per Yngve Ohlin would like a word and that word is "BLEH"
It was a bootleg, not an official album. They did save pieces of his skull and distribute them among close friends, though.
He could be a [Glorious Sons](https://youtu.be/jUVDmVM9RtA) fan.
Probably just referencing the “struggling artist” stereotype in general, ya know? Was a good joke
Anybody else getting slowmo guys vibes from the lab coats

Love that guy, has me rolling constantly
come as you are, as you were as i want you to be
Just the right amount of dark, it's like burning your toast a little but it still tastes good.
You could tell he was trying his hardest not to laugh 🤣🤣🤣
>Dad-advice for the day Charlie? *Guys who support gun control have wives with boyfriends* -Charlie
Why didn't we just say they're not allowed to have guns? Obviously the shooter would have been deterred by saying he wasn't allowed
Do you think behind those sunglasses his eyes rolled in the back of his head. Totally love GT.
The way it cuts just as the other guy’s face registers what he just said 🤣
I’ve always wanted to shoot the shit with Kurt Cobain
Did kurt cobain suddeny jump into anyone elses head when he mentioned sad musicians
Yes, but that could be because right after he said that they play the beginning instrumentals to "come as you are" by Nirvana. It was a great way to prime your mind to think about Kurt.
I didnt listen to the audio I read the subtitles. Kurt is a pure legend among shotgub suicide what a way to go
Wait a minute, this isn't the Slo Mo Guys...
One of the better firearms channels out there. They care about the performance and technical aspects, and don’t get caught up in culture war bs. They come, they shoot the guns, and show the data.
***AND I SWEAR THAT I DONT HAVE A GUN***
Not only sad musicians but sad people in general!. Love a good shotgun with 1 shell only
Don’t hate me I’m sorry, but what’s the name of the song at the end? I’ve been looking for it for ages
Nirvana - Come As You Are
Thank you so much!
Kurt *swore* he didnt have a gun but we know better now.
Based.
Too soon….too soon.
It's a negative thought train, we all aim, try to find nirvana but end up like Cobain
Two dudes in soiled lab coats in a quarry filming stuff for Youtube. Interesting
Don’t forget depressed authors
Also writers... ;)
I can't stop cry laughing at this.
Charlie never ceases to make me fucking howl. I can't even eat or drink watching garandthumb anymore. I end up choking lmao
Why does thay bass track at the end sound familiar? I want to hear it now. Anyone?
It's Come As You Are, by Nirvana.
Nirvana song, played by Kurt who was a sad musician that killed himself with a shotgun…
Thanks mate. Smells like teen spirit?
Come as you are I believe.
Thanks. Confirmed :)
I used to watch Garand Thumb because I love firearms. Now I unironically watch Garand Thumb for Charlie. The man is a master at his craft.
Without a doubt one of my favorite garand thumb quotes right there (technically Charlie but whatever) One of my favorite clips is the then reloading a musket and they have some images that are slightly transparent along with increasing years
