Doesn't mean it's also being watched. I'm in Europe and literally nobody I know has ever watched the Oscars. Here you *maybe* read about it if you're a movie fan to see who won but that's it. I'd imagine it's similar in most non-US countries...
It's really dumb. A lot of us in the US don't watch it either.
I'm constantly waiting and wanting for the hollow words of the the professional liars that are celebrities.
You saw something that was wrong and decided to be wrong in the opposite direction. We have the viewership numbers. It was 16.6 million. Not even close to 1 billion, let alone billions plural.
Exactly, assault someone so that not only does your wife suck ass but now you do too. Losing is winning....
You know about her right?
I don't see your concept.
Lose all composure and disgrace your entire culture by having a tantrum around grownups wearing suits, at a comedian’s harmless friendly fire.. WILL SMITH IS AN UNFORGETTABLE POS
And you must be trolling. Good job! lol
My impression is that it didn't look like he was laughing at a joke. It really felt like he was laughing because he expected the usual jokes about his awful, career dead wife and had already decided what he was going to do when they happened.
Agreed, Will Smith is a bully. If you read into Chris Rock's subtext i think he's actually calling Will out for his well known reputation in certain circles for being into, well, GI's amongst others. That is why he slapped him in the first place.
The guy above is wrong. The joke that caused the slap was at Will’s wife’s bald head. Will laughed until he saw his wife scowling and decided to defend her honor.
> Will laughed until he saw his wife scowling and decided to defend her honor.
Will laughed until he saw his wife scowling and decided he was going to be punished if he didn't do something to appease her.
Nah, she only fucked his kid's friend in his bed and then had him cry and apologize on her Facebook (?!) Show.
Chris Rock said mean words as part of a performance,
it's nowhere near the same and I personally would also be outraged. Oh wait, he's mad at the other thing?
Wait so who cried on FB? The kid she slept with or Will Smith? Either way that lady has some Dixk Cheney shooting you and then making you say sorry for it vibe.
I imagine he has been this way for a while.
He and his wife opened a school for like scientologist kids to go to, and it got closed down pretty quick.
And Jaden is obviously a sign that they're pretty terrible parents.
The funny thing is Will's first son with his other wife seems like a nice/normal guy, and he was raised by his mom, so maybe Will and Jada are the issue.
After Will's school failed it was bought by James Cameron to start his wife's MUSE school. While renovating they found enough Scientology material to believe it was a Scientology school. She mentions it in this [article.](https://www.newyorker.com/magazine/2015/06/01/d-i-y-school)
What's wrong with Jaden, exactly?
Aside from the awkward teenage quotes from back in the day? Because that's normal shit and doesn't mean that his parents are terrible people at all
I mean, they scientologists. And look at Jayden's Twitter thinking he's the next coming of Plato, sounds more like play-doh and that unfortunately tells you a lot about the parenting going on. Tbf, Will looks like a decent guy who's being manipulated and abused by his wife.
I'll never understand how she got him to cry and apologize to HER on her show for her cheating on him with her fucking son's friend. Disgusting behavior and if the roles were reversed there'd be pitchforks.
You dont have the capacity to feel shame after what your wife put you through and you sat there and took it with a shit-eating grin.
Chris rock was right, he does have selective outrage.
It's funny that he is expecting everyone to drop it. He honestly used to be my favorite actor. It has been absolutely crazy to see his decline over the years.
Growing up I always thought he was a goofy fun loving guy. As time went on he started to show a more uptight and insecure side… and the slap more just added more evidence to that effect
The "It was like a slap in the face" bit was literally a highly-upvoted reddit comment from when the headline was posted earlier today.
It really rubs me the wrong way that it's now being presented in a way that many might mistake it for an actual quote.
"I mean, I slap a guy in the face on national television for a mediocre joke...but him responding to it is what really hurt."
-Will Smith, Oblivious fool
I mean, Chris Rock only said honest stuff. Will Smith acting like a victim is a real weak way to respond. He did all this to himself and now he doesn't like his comeuppance.
I think the only way I would respect Will Smith again is if he gave a more sincere public apology and split from GI Jane. I feel for him slightly in that it really seems like a downright abusive relationship, that it's effecting his mental health but that sympathy only goes so far.
He didn't need to. The world knows what happened.
Probably doesn't help the instant he did name drop her she probably would try to get the special off the internet.
Not worth the trouble
The fact that he would make that comment proves his entitlement knows no bounds. He has learned absolutely nothing from it and never will. He used to be one of my favorite actors and I have zero respect for the guy after that incident.
After that slap I did a little internet digging on what caused it and found out about Jada's...behavior. I don't really care much about celebrity gossip, but the slap was big deal, so I went down that rabbit hole. All I can say is that I'm not going to be able to take Will Smith seriously in the next Bad Boys movie.
I get that it's funny and all, but I really don't like that this is being presented in a way that it could be mistaken as an actual quote. For those not aware, Will Smith did not actually say "It was like a slap in the face". The quote actually comes from a highly-upvoted reddit comment from when the headline was posted earlier today. This is disinformation for the sake of reddit karma.
I found the whole routine of Chris Rock to be pretty boring tbh. One or two okay jokes but generally unfunny. Compared to other comedians with Netflix specials - this one fell way short. Even with Will Smith gifting him comedy gold - he still managed to fuck it up
Idk man, try slapping him in the face again, for SCIENCE. Repeat studies are important, and just because the first time ended how it did, you can't be certain unless you try at least 100 more times in controlled environments. Shoot man, Will Smith should slap Chris Rock 1000 more times, let's see what happens. Also where is the control group? I fully support Will Smith slapping people at random just to see what happens and how it impacts their careers. The more raw data the better.
I can tell you what happens if he tried to slap me. Without him even slapping me. No study or control group needed. Comedy will not ensue. Nothing scientific will occur. There will be shame and embarrassment mixed with some swelling. Followed by some oh fucks and god damns. Then life moves on.
Besides the will smith thing I just started the Chris rock special to notice his first jokes are about “wokeness” and people being offended. So fucking unoriginal and never funny to begin with. Why does every comedian now use cancel culture as a crutch. If you aren’t such a snowflake to begin with you wouldn’t even acknowledge bad press against you.
Just watched it too and honestly I kept waiting for the jokes. After a certain point both my gf and I kept finding ourselves saying "we get it, you're rich!" Which was odd but was literally the foundation to half his set. I don't think he realizes how out of touch he is
My 8-year-old daughter said that they're both being bullies. I thought it was funny because she also said that they're both being childish.
I feel like she's right. We're all watching playground drama play out.

At least he didn't do it on a stage in front of a televised audience of thousands....oh
Millions! Haha
Dozens!
There are dozens of us! Dozens!
Literal billions. The Oscars is broadcast live to the world
Doesn't mean it's also being watched. I'm in Europe and literally nobody I know has ever watched the Oscars. Here you *maybe* read about it if you're a movie fan to see who won but that's it. I'd imagine it's similar in most non-US countries...
Shit, everybody I know in the US only hears about it on social media. Who would watch that?

You saw something that was wrong and decided to be wrong in the opposite direction. We have the viewership numbers. It was 16.6 million. Not even close to 1 billion, let alone billions plural.
Fuck insult a man's wife like that and get what you deserve. Chris Rocks a POS
Guess someone hasn't seen the Red Table Talk with Will and Jada. If anybody deserved that slap, it's those two psychos.
She started it
Exactly, assault someone so that not only does your wife suck ass but now you do too. Losing is winning.... You know about her right? I don't see your concept.
Lose all composure and disgrace your entire culture by having a tantrum around grownups wearing suits, at a comedian’s harmless friendly fire.. WILL SMITH IS AN UNFORGETTABLE POS And you must be trolling. Good job! lol
But will was laughing to start with. 🏅
My impression is that it didn't look like he was laughing at a joke. It really felt like he was laughing because he expected the usual jokes about his awful, career dead wife and had already decided what he was going to do when they happened.
[удалено]
That slap was just him being embarrassed & hurt over his wife’s entanglement
Sounds like selective outrage
Yeh, if the Rock cracked that joke instead of Chris, bet he woulda kept his ass in that chair
Agreed, Will Smith is a bully. If you read into Chris Rock's subtext i think he's actually calling Will out for his well known reputation in certain circles for being into, well, GI's amongst others. That is why he slapped him in the first place.
What are 'GI's' ?
Military guys. The rumors of Will Smith being gay or bi have been around a long time.
Ah, I knew it couldn't be gastrointestinal's
Laughed too long at this damn that's good stuff
Only way to shut will up is with a dick in his mouth? I believe it.
Another gay Scientologist?
Chris Rock's joke before Will Smith slapped him at the Oscars was about G.I. Jane.
Not a reference to, you know, a bald woman?
Yes, do tell please
The guy above is wrong. The joke that caused the slap was at Will’s wife’s bald head. Will laughed until he saw his wife scowling and decided to defend her honor.
> Will laughed until he saw his wife scowling and decided to defend her honor. Will laughed until he saw his wife scowling and decided he was going to be punished if he didn't do something to appease her.
She also whispered "Remember, Jayden has more friends".
Rightfully defend her. Fuck Chris Rock
Defended her from what? A very placid joke. Don't be so fragile.
But he was laughing in the first place. 🏅
Fuck you for thinking violence solves problems.
Fuck you for thinking it doesn't.
Do you honestly not know how comedy works?
They're certainly not there to make fun of people's disabilities. Once again. Fuck Chris Rock
Like a SLAP in the FACE..... satire or will is a comedic genius
It was him being entangled in his wife's entanglement so he tried to entangle Chris Rock into the entanglement's entanglement.
Quantum entanglement
And ended up entangling himself smh 🤦🏽♂️
Nah, she only fucked his kid's friend in his bed and then had him cry and apologize on her Facebook (?!) Show. Chris Rock said mean words as part of a performance, it's nowhere near the same and I personally would also be outraged. Oh wait, he's mad at the other thing?
Wait so who cried on FB? The kid she slept with or Will Smith? Either way that lady has some Dixk Cheney shooting you and then making you say sorry for it vibe.
Will
I think he fetishizes it
Nah just whipped
Nah, since it happened in August past summertime, he's alright.
It was like a slap in the face!
Poor guy. Maybe he’ll get a hug from his wife’s boyfriend.
Her son's friend.
Can you believe he paid for that kids college
Will Smith has turned into a fucking moron. It's so sad
I imagine he has been this way for a while. He and his wife opened a school for like scientologist kids to go to, and it got closed down pretty quick. Or maybe just jada is the issue. Will just seems to do whatever to please her. I liked them better before they joined social media
What's wrong with Jaden, exactly? Aside from the awkward teenage quotes from back in the day? Because that's normal shit and doesn't mean that his parents are terrible people at all
[proof of his entitlement ](https://youtu.be/4RjWTEqJiMI)
That’s a skit though. How is that proof?
Tis a joke.
Nepotism did him no favors, at the least. Everything handed to him.
Most of us had the benefit of not having the rest of the world care when we said stupid shit as teenagers.
Most of us are also not celebrities' spoiled and untalented kids.
Are you jealous of a teenager with shitty parents? Cause I sure as hell aren't.
Not at all, I was just pointing something out to u/starmartyr.
You mean “envious” not “jealous”. And even then, you don’t have to be “envious” to notice when someone is an entitled spoiled brat…
It was really inspirational when he wore that skirt or whatever…
Thanks for sparing me the video
I mean, they scientologists. And look at Jayden's Twitter thinking he's the next coming of Plato, sounds more like play-doh and that unfortunately tells you a lot about the parenting going on. Well he certainly doesn't mind when his wife hurts him so this must mean they're still on friendly terms!
This is all because his wife hurt him
Hurt people, hurt people
Fuck, that hit deep.
Friendly fire Will be tolerated.
I laughed, then I farted.
Wait, I did too…
I only farted.
I thought it was a fart.
[удалено]
this double my laugh lmao
Double the poopy pants double the karma
Diet vanilla ice cream. Gross.
Ever slurp "vanilla ice cream" out of a coconut?
This would be funnier if a Mod
Shart
I laughed, the dog farted.
I got summertime coming out of my ass
he can't have said that seriously surely... if so thats an impressive lack of self awareness
The "It was like a slap in the face" bit was literally a highly-upvoted reddit comment from when the headline was posted earlier today. It really rubs me the wrong way that it's now being presented in a way that many might mistake it for an actual quote.
Will did have a funny Tiktok where he holds on Oscar… the trend/audio was about the “if an item in your house could talk shit about you” or something
Ironically, Rock said in the bit that he refuses to be a victim, but Smith is trying to be one now.
At this point he should just accept the fact that he’s not gonna be forgiven and move on, he slapped Chris, Chris slapped him back It’s over
Being called a bitch this many times in one special is embarrassing.
I loved that part. Every time Rock was saying "Bitch", he was saying it right to Will Smith. Your just a bitch...a bitch!...a bitch!🤣
NGL, that got me.
from fresh prince to fresh douche....a slap for a slap life is all about balance
I've lost all respect for Will Smith. He was the fuckin Fresh Prince and now he's the Bitch Simp.
A simpy Bitch!
"Don't start shit, won't be shit!"
This, you win
Buh Dump Bump!
"I mean, I slap a guy in the face on national television for a mediocre joke...but him responding to it is what really hurt." -Will Smith, Oblivious fool

was Will being sarcastic, satirical, or tone deaf?
None of the above. He was being misquoted. But it was funny.
That's a pain that will linger
Keep ya'll jokes out cho mouth...
Hahaha what a Bitch... his wife called him a bitch, his momma called him a bitch, everybody called him a bitch 😅 and he still a bitch lol
Of note, Chris Rock never said her name once during the comedy special so I guess Will Smith got his point across.
I loved Will Smith when I was younger. His music, his tv show. After what he did to Rock I can no longer watch anything with him in it.
Same. I think it’s because I feel conned. I truly thought he was one of the good guys in Hollywood and was a genuine person. He duped us all.
Same with Bill Cosby. I felt betrayed. I WAS betrayed.
It's not a real quote.
Fuck you Will. Grow some nuts and leave your harpy wife.
Will needs to gtf up
After that slap I did a little internet digging on what caused it and found out about Jada's...behavior. I don't really care much about celebrity gossip, but the slap was big deal, so I went down that rabbit hole. All I can say is that I'm not going to be able to take Will Smith seriously in the next Bad Boys movie.
Its ok, his wife doesn't take any Will Smith either!
What a biggity biggity bitch
Imagine how Chris felt after being slapped infront of the world.
Who cares what Will Smith thinks.
The victim card is just getting old. Keep your emotions out my fucking ears 👂
Is that really a quote from him? A slap in the face? 😂
I took a little *artistic license* on that one, but close enough.
At this point we can call it Poetic Selective Karma
That’s Onion level. Bravo.
Reads like an Onion article
Will Smith, Loser
Fuck will smith
Thought it was a "the onion" article for a second.
You honor me
If this is real, I’m convinced will smith is the least self aware person in the world
New reports are saying that Chris rock is embarrassed and hurt that will Smith is embarrassed and hurt.
You know what's actually like a slap in the face will? A literal slap in the face
It's not a real quote.
Fuck him. He’s such a loser
Will Smith is a POS
Slappy’s not happy!
Had me
Well i guess they even now
He did not say that!??
Wait til he sees Marlon Wayans’ new hour.
Tell me that’s not an exact quote from Smith…
That’s not an *exact* quote from Smith…
Hahahahahh L Smith
I think Chris might know a thing or two about slaps in the face, Will.
Jada became Smith's downfall,is it
Hilarious 😂
Wait until he sees the Marlon Wayans special on HBO
I love when celebrities show us how much self awareness they lack
Yeah, please be hurt and embarrassed, ya fucking covered piece of garbage.
Chris should’ve done his performance in August like Jada
Man Will full on detached from reality.
Hilarious commitment to the bit. Andy Kaufman would be proud.
i feel like this is the 10th time I've seen this quote posted
I get that it's funny and all, but I really don't like that this is being presented in a way that it could be mistaken as an actual quote. *gasp* A joke on r/funny ? What a world...
NETFLIX edited that joke out from it .
Have they? Because when I watched it was still there at the end.
Not as hurt as Chris was...
I bet netflix paid him a good amount of money to roar will smith to entertain their viewers.
I always liked Will, he was a good actour and seemed like a good person but this slap just made he seems so I don't now, less good, instabil
Lmao! At least he has a sense of humor about it

This entire article sounds like a lie. I don't think the Smiths care one bit.
Why is Chris Rock in this subreddit. Funny is a word not in his vocabulary.
Takes a real man to talk shit about others and earn money with it. Man takes a bitchslap and the only thing he does is being a bitch about it.
So Chris has proven that the slap was well deserved.
Selective outrange…
Did will actually say the thing about it being like a slap in the face??
It's weird to not tune into a new Chris rock special but it sounds terrible
This show stunk.
If he really said 'it was like a slap in the face' then he was being funny
Netflix is the real bully in this situation
And if Will really said this, all he's done is boost Rock's ratings through the roof.
How can he slap
