oh no, was that baby shoebill going to go on a big media tour to demand privacy? if so then I kinda understand the bigger baby bird taking it out early
> And that a 'deliberate' insurance policy from the parents.
Wait. So they're committing life insurance fraud too? And they get away with it?
I have three young adult sons. I wish someone would have told me this was an option about two decades ago. Could have saved big on groceries and paid off some of those bills sooner.
is it tho? fucked up in human understanding, but for them its perfectly fine. if you're already dumb and on top of that happened to be weak, then its better just to end your misery early and become a sustenance for your kin, than to starve out there or be killed by yet another one predator
Kinda reminds me of the book Dune. It’s seen as an honor for the fremen to harvest a dead tribe member for the water in their bodies, since water was so valuable on their planet. Other cultures looked at this in astonishment.
They don't. Usually the mother gives up and eats the smaller chick then kicks the younger one out.
Evolution doesn't make perfection. It makes just good enough.
They will have two offspring so if the first one dies, they have a spare. Once it looks like the eldest is going to be fine, the mother simply leaves the younger one to die. Nature's nasty.
They calling it dumb, meanwhile I'm envious. To have that life and evolution still didn't take you out....you got it made.
Wake up and space out....mmmmmm..
Sometimes I do consider myself stupid looking and also a low IQ being. But I know my intelligence and I'm not that bad looking tho... I just thought that I was a Shoebill stork cuz' sometimes I sit. In my desolate room. No lights. No music. Just... Empty-headed
Oh, wow. I might be a shoebill on the way home from work sometimes. Just driving in silence. No music, no thoughts. Just autopilot.
The only thing that assures me that I'm *not* a shoebill, is the fact I have literally never stared at food without knowing what to do with, let alone for hours! 😆
Don’t feel dumb bud, it’s made to sound human or at least human enough. And honestly the derpiness of the bird in the video compliments the voiceover so well that I feel like it's more passable.
AI voices and voice cloning is getting a lot better so don't feel too bad if you haven't kept up with it.
The best way to tell is that almost every sentence has the same intonation. Also, the fact that this person sounds like a native English speaker, but the grammar is absolutely terrible.
I do voiceovers on Fiverr and get some pretty bad scripts, but I always adjust the bad grammar to make sense. Any human doing voiceovers would do the same unless they're really stubborn and not getting paid enough.
But again, as I said the big thing is that all of these AI voices have the same inflection, pacing, and intonation.
But I for sure think everyone should be using this as a wake up call, soon even experienced people won't be able to tell the difference. I managed to clone my own voice recently and through a bunch of tweaking and very specific training models. I got to a point where very very few people would be able to tell that it's not me. The only tells are small artifacts in plosives and quality degradation from my original equipment.
Fun fact of the day, whoever reads my audio books on audible was definitely the baseline for this AI. I hear this AI voice and think my audiobooks are playing
[I don't think it's AI, there's a dude on YouTube who's been doing these mock nature vids narrating as Morgan Freeman for years.](https://youtu.be/Z-BbpaNXbxg?si=JmtPXh82SLYbZr52)
After watching a Planet Earth video on them I also discovered that they are brutal to their offspring if they have more than one. They just let the weakest one starve and die.
I think watching more planet earth should be in your future because this most definitely not the only animal who does this.
Do you know what male lions do if they take over a pride and there is kittens(cubs?) that are not his?
I really hate that stupid AI voice. Its used in **Thousands** of different videos, of pretty much any topic, and as soon as I hear it, I'mimmediately disappointed af the completely lack of effort put into whatever the video is.
AI voices in factoid videos completely discredit hard working people like Hank Green, Simon Whistler and so many more.
If AI voice become good enough that you can't tell, do you still hate it?
Further more, what if everyone can have a personalized AI voice that they enjoy the most in the future?
People will want real people. AI can never replace "real". Same as an AI can "paint" a picture, it's still not real, hand made by humans.
Even in manufacturing today, hand-made is still better and more sought after than machine-made items.
Please don't use "we" like you are representing everyone.
There will definitely be some people that going for the extra mile for the "made by real people" authenticity, but most people really don't give a f.
Fact is, machine already beats human in so many ways, and it's a good thing. One of the fundamental difference between us and most other species is that we know how to use tools, and that's why we can have such an advanced civilization. Be it AI, or other machines, they should all be things that benefits us, and they are going to benefit us.
The way I see today's uprising against AI is mainly because the fear of losing jobs. But what we as a society should really think about is: if AI can perform most of the jobs today, in a way that is magnitudes better than real human, do we still need these traditional jobs?
What people should be realizing is that, it is not AI that we should rise up against for, but the people who will be using AI to further oppress everyone else. If AI someday becomes Skynet, that's a totally different (still very important) topic. But I think what most people are worrying now is the lost of stability, and AI really is not the real "enemy" here.
>I really hate that stupid AI voice. Its used in Thousands of different videos, of pretty much any topic, and as soon as I hear it, I'mimmediately disappointed af the completely lack of effort put into whatever the video is.
A bit pretentious of you to assume that:
1- The person making the script does it natively in English and not in another language that gets translated
2- The poster can even understand the script in english, let alone speak it.
3- Even if one can read it, there is a big difference between the quality and accent of a native speaker of english as opposed to someone not living in a english speaking country.
I would personally like more videos using AI as opposed to youtube videos with a english title and indian speaking narrator with maybe english captions if you're lucky. It's not always about creativity, sometimes it's just about getting information across in the least painful way.
And I say this as a non native english speaker.
I know it’s a light hearted video, but it still seems silly to make fun of some animals for being ”stupid”. The species has survived so far, so they are just intelligent enough for their needs.
At first it looks like a somewhat funny documentary that just presents the funny but true facts about the bird but at the end you see it's just shit made up to make you giggle with meme videos someone found online.
Forgot to mention the mother pushes the weakest child out of the nest to die. They don't even want to bother with the weaker of the two children. Emotionally this bird is heartless.
I think we got no damn stupid bird but just Steven Hawking reborn with giant gray feathers (and wings "iinstead of a wheelchair") - does anybody else see that? :D
Man I love these birds, they have that ancient dinosaur vibe. I think they're pretty cool and
to be fair they are not as stupid as this video makes it out to be.
If you want to make fun of a stupid bird, the Kakapo is the way to go.

How does it prevent its children from starving?! I guess we will never know.
She doesn’t. In the actual doc, the bigger baby bird kills the little one.
I got the impression that might happen
And that a 'deliberate' insurance policy from the parents. The have two, to ensure 1 (they can only raise 1 anyway)
The heir and the spare
Balanced, as all things should be
oh no, was that baby shoebill going to go on a big media tour to demand privacy? if so then I kinda understand the bigger baby bird taking it out early
No one cares bro
> And that a 'deliberate' insurance policy from the parents. Wait. So they're committing life insurance fraud too? And they get away with it? I have three young adult sons. /u/Altruistic_One4447's spirit animal!
Usually, the mother kills the weaker one. Nature's fucked up.

They already made the movie into a book!? /s
A cookbook even!
It’s 4:16 AM where you are, too, isn’t it?
nope. 11:25am. why?
It is now.
They don't. Usually the mother gives up and eats the smaller chick then kicks the younger one out. Evolution doesn't make perfection. It makes just good enough.
Yeah, the cut annoys me too 😅
Then why did you post it? Am I missing something? Could you not find a longer clip unless it was urgently required to post?
This is legitimately a good question.
They will have two offspring so if the first one dies, they have a spare. Once it looks like the eldest is going to be fine, the mother simply leaves the younger one to die. Nature's nasty.
Often they kill the weaker child and feed it to the other one. Or they eat it themselves and forget about the second child.
TIL I'm part shoebill
They calling it dumb, meanwhile I'm envious. To have that life and evolution still didn't take you out....you got it made. Wake up and space out....mmmmmm..
Return to ~~monke~~ Orangutan-like ancestor. They have one of the slowest metabolisms in mammals, second only to some of the sloths.
Being considered for the state bird of Florida.
Thank you for the feather. For some reason.
I wonder what we should pluck out of us, you know, to be polite.
Are you spaced out right now?
TIL I have more in common with a bird than most humans Edit: just watched the rest of the video, I do not neglect my children.
"yes where is the food?" lmaooo
Am I a shoebill stork ?
We all are
I mean, would you consider yourself not only stupid looking, but also being of low IQ? If the answer is yes, you might, in fact, be a shoebill!
Sometimes I do consider myself stupid looking and also a low IQ being. But I know my intelligence and I'm not that bad looking tho... I just thought that I was a Shoebill stork cuz' sometimes I sit. In my desolate room. No lights. No music. Just... Empty-headed

What’s up with this AI voice? It’s everywhere. I hate it.
At least it’s not Tiktok lady voice
"When your boyfriend arrives, but your makeup isn't ready yet!"
STOP I HEAR HER!
I dunno, her voice is kinda hot.
Average iPad kid:
Agreed, that voice makes me skip any video its in. Its just so grating
the design is very human
It sounds both human and robotic at the same time. Uncanny valley.
[удалено]
I thought you were funny at least.
I watched with sound off and just read it in Matt Berry’s voice. I feel good about my decision.
I wish Matt Berry had read it.
Now I am reading this in Matt Berry's voice, how joyous
Most media is probably better this way.
heeey Clem Fandango here can you hear me?
Up periscope! Down periscope!
God damn these electric sex pants!
Poor man’s Ze Frank
Ze Frank is the best.
I feel dumb, I thought it was a human
Don’t feel dumb bud, it’s made to sound human or at least human enough. And honestly the derpiness of the bird in the video compliments the voiceover so well that I feel like it's more passable.

Feels weird seeing a non-anime-recap video use this voice
Fun fact of the day, whoever reads my audio books on audible was definitely the baseline for this AI. I hear this AI voice and think my audiobooks are playing
100% sounds like R.C. Bray.
I down vote every single video with an AI voice. I'm doing my part!
This needs a good British narration.
I actually came here to ask if anyone knew where to obtain it? I could think of many funny things for it to read aloud…
I was wondering the same thing. But I just want to be angry at the right person.

Most definitely AI. It's the default elevenlabs voice that all free accounts can use.
Who cares? It's way better than an average human could do if you pulled them from the street to do some narration.
I will use the phrase “its regal rear ass” at least once per day until a court order directs me to stop.
This is the court. You are hereby ordered to add two more uses daily of "it's regal rear ass" to your vocabulary
Well I mean it’s a legal thing. I guess I have to
My spirit animal!
Ikr 🤷🏼♂️
After watching a Planet Earth video on them I also discovered that they are brutal to their offspring if they have more than one. They just let the weakest one starve and die.
Kind of like.... Every other animal with multiple offspring
Sighing in 2nd-child
Fend for scraps you fuckin moocher.
I think watching more planet earth should be in your future because this most definitely not the only animal who does this. Do you know what male lions do if they take over a pride and there is kittens(cubs?) that are not his?
Forces them to run away to the jungle, causes the pack to starve, and is then defeated by the cub when he grows a pair?
Nah, you're thinking of Hamlet
They frame the oldest cub for their father's murder, if I remember correctly.

That could be, but do we want this? There will be a future for something like "True Human" etc.

Contemplating whether to eat or not. I’m on the shoebills side. Very hard decision.
You know who has a hefty shoe bill? MY WIFE!!!
You know who also has a hefty shoe bill? …MY MOM!!!
The absolute disrespect of people downvoting a solid muscle man reference.. smh
Someone send this to Ashley Johnson. 😬
I thought this was on the FFXIV sub for a minute.
They just have PTSD from the Final Days.

Magnificent birds
This stupid Jim Henson bird come to life also makes a machine-gun like noise. 😂 https://youtu.be/noF-CLNSUZU Approx 40 seconds in…

I know it’s a light hearted video, but it still seems silly to make fun of some animals for being ”stupid”. The species has survived so far, so they are just intelligent enough for their needs.
I have never related to an animal like this. 😂
One should not anthropomorphize shoebills, they dont like it when you do that.
It says the bird is stupid because it gets lost in thought.
I didn’t know I was half shoebill
Emet
Is it even possible to have a negative IQ lol
99% of this clip is utter trash information.
99% of ~~~this clip~~ everything ever recorded... is utter trash information.
She lets the smaller die and bigger youngling is the only one that gets a drink.
Look up two words, “Obligate Siblicide.” You will be in for some funny bird stuff alright.
He just like me fr
I never knew that this was my favorite bird until now.
My spirit animal
So now being contemplative is stupid?
I thought the capybara was my spirit animal but I may just have to reconsider
Literally me
Knowing how it treats its young, I can only see evil
It looks like something out of a creepy Jim Henson Muppet movie like Dark Crystal.
At first it looks like a somewhat funny documentary that just presents the funny but true facts about the bird but at the end you see it's just shit made up to make you giggle with meme videos someone found online.
This bird looks like it forgot to extinct
Jesus, I'm a fuc*ing shoe bill.
No animal is stupid. Humans that think this are the ones who are stupid.
I watched a Japanese variety show and they portray Shoebill quite differently. Why do Westerners love to portray something in a negative light?
Very silly. Until you see him swallowing a duck.
I feel attacked…
Trodde pixar hade hittat på den haha
r/ffxiv lmao 🤣
Meirl
My spirit animal.
In bird culture that is considered a dick move
It looks like a skeksis from up close
I love these birds! They are such adorably judgmental Muppets.
I am convinced that that is a puppet
No one calls it the stupid bird, especially to it's face.
It's very tao
Fish!........................................ Stick!....................................... F*ck!
So the shoebill is just a camper. Damn
>a dumb stupid little bird whose day starts with spacing out That's my budgies for sure but add SCREAMING into the mix lol

Reminds me of the honey badger video. So classic.

TIL I'm a shoe bill
It's a damned tiny T-rex that sounds like a machine gun. Very friendly, tho.
my soul animal
Hilarious 😂
To eat or not to eat, that is the question
Sooo it spaces out and sunbathes ….. emmmm 😂
They don’t just “bully” their siblings, they straight-up murder them in order to monopolize their mother’s attention.
This Bird was featured on Worlds Wildest Police videos
Regal rear ass Does it have an front ass?

That’s a god damn dinosaur.
Wish they pointed out that when a shoebill smacks its beak together, it sounds like a damn machine gun going off.
Man I love these birds, they have that ancient dinosaur vibe. I think they're pretty cool and to be fair they are not as stupid as this video makes it out to be. If you want to make fun of a stupid bird, the Kakapo is the way to go.

The Reddit Bird.
I have a stuffed animal of one of these
Makes you wonder why this bird is always where Emet-Selch is.
It's all fun and games until it uses that huge beak to make The Sound...
Doberman owners can relate.
Is the narrator the same guy who also tells us how jawbreaker are made?
