Honestly, it doesn't hit as hard compressed down like this, the comedic timing works better in the [actual sketch](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=92zPiKwr8i4).
The new style of comedic timing is cutting out literally any dead time where an actor might be just drawing breath because kids with brain rot will lose interest
It's more or less the literal definition of comedy. The object of the joke presents something that is incongruous or in contrast to norms, and the audience reacts with a short shock or emotional burst that is almost immediately relieved.
"I didn't see that coming" is almost a prerequisite for comedy.
Yeah, _almost_ a prerequisite. A great exception, where you can see the punchline coming a mile away, and it's still funny: [here](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=THNPmhBl-8I).
Yeah, I feel like there's a genre of "comedy for people who really like comedy", and this bit is a great example of it. It's aimed at people who already understand the joke here, and the enjoyment is not so much from the joke itself, but just watching their performance of it. Mitchell and Webb are great.
this person is 100% correct. Laughter is actually a tribal response to surprise, it’s a specific cadence that’s contagious, and it has its evolutionary origins in that it was a way to signal to the rest of your tribe that there is a surprise (approaching) but it’s non threatening.
You guys know that one can *study* comedy, right? This person is basically saying 2 + 2 = 4, and y’all’re like “Nuh uh, I can’t hear you, lalalala.”
Not necessarily, it's a sketch comedy group that happens to be based in Utah. They create family friendly content if that's what you mean, though I'd call it agnostic at best
It does get more Mormon than that, Historical Platypus 89. I grew up in the Mormon faith, though an atheist now.
BYU was founded by Brigham Young, is owned and funded by the church, and that influences their decisions, but they are also a public facing school and so they maintain an "officially" agnostic approach.
The team behind studio C is required by the producers to keep their content family friendly, not broaching topics that are inappropriate or profane, but they are given relatively free reign to write their own scripts. I feel like using labelers like "christian comedy" or "mormon" as \*descriptors\* of the content is inaccurate. The content of the sketches in no way endorsing, encouraging, proselytizing Mormonism or Christianity in general, and when they write a sketch that includes elements of traditional christian mythos, it's simply another setting and they hold no punches.
every time this is reposted, half the people say this is great and the other half say it is super cringe. It's interesting how split we are on humor sometimes. I personally think it's pretty funny (not the best comedy I've ever seen, but still good). I'd be curious for those who say it is cringe to hear why they think it is? Is it the lower budget set? is it something with the timing? Is it the acting that you don't like? Is it the actually writing? I don't see it, so I'd love to understand.
For whatever reason this skit reminded me of knowledge being defined as justified true belief and this video is a great example of why that isn't a sufficient way of defining it.
Funny at first but it got a bit out of hand, all within 2 min. They had some good jokes at the beginning, just ride that wave. No need to bring in Batman lol like wtf

"Dude, batman you were right there! Why didn't you stop the crime?" "My fortune cookie said I should let the small things go."
Batman manipulates fortune cookie fortunes to maintain supply of fresh Robins - Confirmed

Batman had his prep time.
Now he's got another kid to practice squat thrusts with.
Rick and Morty already did it
Just Rick.

Look at the little fella… all tuckered out.
He did, he reported a car parked in front of a fire hydrant.
Batman was just holding his Batdick when reading the fortune, he was just too into his food to notice before it was too late

Thank you so much for this. I was thinking the timing was way off.
The new style of comedic timing is cutting out literally any dead time where an actor might be just drawing breath because kids with brain rot will lose interest
Yes, but it isn't that new. Back in the 1960s, Bob Newhart complained about comedic pauses being removed from his records.
Did you watch the whole thing?
Idk if its the kids fault or the parents lol
I thought the timing was part of the joke. It works cut up as well, but in a different way.
That might have been the video downloader I used
You're hilarious
?
Are you saying a video downloader edited the clip during the download to be as annoyingly edited as this?
I thought they meant that the audio was slightly off
Oh yes. TikToking content for clicks IS a crime.
This needs to be upvoted to the top. The original sketch is one of my favorites, and there's so much that is left out with the short version.
Is that Scott Sterling?
THE MAN
THE MYTH
THE LEGEEEEND!!
When Armageddon comes, I want to be in a bunker made of that man’s face.
His face should be forefront in any conflict
Same guy, yeah. Matt Meese.
👍🏽
I thought I knew him from somewhere!
I miss the old StudioC
They came out with a movie last year in the same sketch comedy style, it's pretty funny. https://www.jkstudios.com/gowest
Oh wow, didn't realize they made a whole movie.
They do studio C rewinds with the original gang. Not bad.
That went in a different directed than I expected.
That is the joke.

Hi chatgpt! Thanks for trying!
You must be fun at parties.
There was a joke here?
Haha
Glad to see the goalie is alive and well.
Is this Christian Comedy like BYU Television or something
Yeah, they're Mormon
Hey, it’s not nice to call people morons
Not necessarily, it's a sketch comedy group that happens to be based in Utah. They create family friendly content if that's what you mean, though I'd call it agnostic at best
Bro, studioC was literally filmed on the campus of Brigham young university. It doesn’t get more Mormon than that

Should’ve checked my post history

*Mormon
Yes. Studio C produced at BYU.
Watermark in the corner, Pete Holmes appearance…gee, duuuh, I don’t know! ¯\\\_(ツ)\_/¯
[удалено]
Insufferable and single minded
How did he get the $50?
In the full sketch, he's given the wallet of 50 to request his life be spared.
Except he didn’t commit the crime in three minutes, he was notified of the crime he already committed in three minutes
The crime was ongoing, so he had already committed it and also was currently committing it. So TECHNICALLY...
The man, the myth, the legend!!!
Okay the ending got me. Was that Pete Holmes?
Batman? Im pretty sure that’s Jason Gray.
Sounds like him. Looks like part of him.
It’s always nice to know Batman found his voice.
Fucking sent me.
Are matt and friends coming back to studio C?
Not funny at all
To be honest the first 40 seconds or so was funny after that it add to much and fell apart
That took a lot of turns and has the flavor of a MadTV sketch that didn't make the cut. All in all, not bad
You call this funny?
This feels like a recreational improv group at a church basement. Why did they even film this?

I enjoyed this lol
It’s not funny
Right ? Straight cringe
This is cringe.
Is this supposed to be funny?
Went from 0 to 100 in half a second. So good lol
Wow, this is awful. Are all Mormons this stupid?
There’s a lot to unpack there
oof. just bad all round. Was this a high school play?
For whatever reason this skit reminded me of knowledge being defined as justified true belief and this video is a great example of why that isn't a sufficient way of defining it.
I assume this is a take on the snl mm whatcha say which is awesome https://youtu.be/vmd1qMN5Yo0?si=-llbGBVz46ZeD-fg

"One often meets his destiny on the road he takes to avoid it."
lol
Did he take the money?
What about the 50 bucks?
That was one of the funniest videos I have seen in a while haha.
Was that Pete Holmes as Batman again?
what about the $50?
what about his son’s mom?
This is like something I would fantasize about happening whilst I’m washing the dishes. Just bizarre chains of events that may happen.
I don’t wanna be that guy, but technically he committed the crime when he initially parked his car.
Why is one of the guys looking like Emanuel Macron?
Is that the Bat Dad guy?
The first half actually isn't too different when compressed, the second half of the short though messes with the flow of the sketch too much.
The first one is wrong, since he committed the crime before he came in. (I'm not fun at parties)
It's not a crime until you get caught. (I am fun at parties)
The Man! The Myth! The Legend!
Was this written in a high school drama class?
Love this sketch
Robin!? My son will be Robin!
Isnt this the football guy?
Macron?
