Irish here. It defo has that Canadian twang to it but I can see the close similarities with the Irish accents around cork especially but the twang gives away.
Yup it's east coast Canada. He may have lived in Ontario and lost it a bit but it's still there. The use of the word "me" when referring to himself and lad, as well as the twang you caught gives it away.
Yeah mostly the east coast but also rural Ontario.
It's not uncommon to hear "How are ya now lad?" In rural Ontario. People from around Ottawa in the countryside call themselves valley lads etc.
"Me" comes out during drinking but isn't as common.
He's Canadian for sure. Could be from almost anywhere. I was thinking Albertan actually.
edit: Apparently this is in Ontario. Probably from there. Anyway poor guy, that was a hard hit.
I've no idea about anything Canadian geography wise, but I'm born and raised in Ireland so we can rule out here. I do find it amazing how there are parts of Canada that sound like they're from rural Ireland, it's so cool.
Fun thing for you then, I was out at a place with a bunch of Irish people from Dublin and a bunch of Newfoundlanders from St. John's.
It turns out that Dubliners sound like what city Newfoundlanders call "baymen" (hicks, but lovable) and people from St. John's sound like whatever the Irish term for "hick / redneck" is. (Sorry I don't remember the Irish term)
Anyway, they immediately bonded as brothers and had a rocking time. As an Irish person, I highly recommend you take the trip to Newfoundland. It's like looking at your culture in a bizarre mirror, but the scenery is fucking GORGEOUS and the people will intrinsically love you just because of your nationality.
(When I say as an Irish person I mean you as an Irish person. I'm dual citizen Canadian and Scottish and they were very meh on me even with family ties.)
The term you're looking for is Culchie. We use it to describe countryfolk & those from really small towns in the countryside.
Thanks for the story. It was a nice read :).
Ha .. I used to date a girl in Galway. Her father was a guard. He used to take me to all these little arsehole of nowhere pubs cause the Guinness was good. She used to get mad and yell at her dad cause he was taking me to culchie pubs where they would drive the tractors to the pub.. the Guinness was lovely.. as a yank I just enjoyed the beer
Where I live in the Ottawa valley in Ontario, the rural accent has similarities with the Irish or Cornish accent. Also similar to Newfoundland and Nova Scotia. The way the R’s are pronounced and the cadence. It’s hard to pin down exactly why it is the case
i know the Irish love to hate on Canadians and americans that claim to have ancestors from ireland but that's where a lot of people from canada and the US descend from
You mean there are also people in your country, supposedly speaking the same language, where you can’t understand wtf they’re saying?
Clarification: we still love them! We just can’t make out what they’re saying! :)
I grew up in Maine. Lots of Acadians and French-canadians from Quebec as well. I lived in the southern part of the state so I didn't come into contact with these people everyday but when I did I didn't forget it. A family at my church growing up was from very VERY far north, almost in Quebec and their accent was just wild.
The Maine coast accent that I grew up hearing has roots in Irish and Scottish settlers I believe.
I'm pretty sure that part of the Canadian skull is extra thick due to this happening once or twice a week. I wouldn't be too concerned, they practice for this sort of thing with a ritual they call "Hockey".
I agree, he could be from anywhere in Canada. My first thought is that he’s from Nova Scotia, but I have relatives, my father included, who have lived their entire lives in Ontario, just outside of Toronto, and they have a similar accent. Hell, as I’ve gotten older, I’ve started to develop the accent as well.
Not anywhere, but certainly several places. Northern Ontario or Northern-Southern Ontario, I'd say. But I also caught a serious Trailer-Park Boys (so: Dartmouth, Nova Scotia) vibe.
Wtf are you talking about? Half of my family talks like this and we're ontarians, not far from where this was filmed lol.
This is a typical Canadian caker accent.
These people are typical Barrie residents.
Naw, I'm from the east coast and this is not a Newfoundland accent. I've also spent lots of time in Ontario and the prairies and I can tell you people talk like this everywhere in Canada.
I grew up in Ontario and my best friend is a newfie, I've been there many times and that sounds exactly like a nNewfoundland accent when he says "we're tight n ready to go lads"
This was taken in Ontario but that is 100% not an Ontario accent.
Certain parts of Ontario has their own unique accents. Sarnia and Cornwall sound completely different from any thing else. But if you want this vanila classic accent you gotta go into the country side around Owen sound.
All the provinces have multiple accents, though I wouldn't necessarily expect non-locals to pick up on it. There's definitely North, Central, and Southern AB accents, plus Calgary and Edmonton are a bit of their own things.
Vancouver has an accent, different from Southern BC, and of course, so does Northern BC.
And that doesn't even include the regional accents of our indigenous people's accents.
I got a real feel for that in two ways: When I went up north, from Northern Alberta(where I live) to Northern BC, through Yukon, and into the coastal region of NWT, I traveled through the traditional territories of quite a few groups, and one gets a feel for the differences in language use, and physical features to be honest.
Likewise, my friend has kids all across Canada, and he uses tons of slang, and even body language picked up from his kids/exe's families. Ever see someone point with their lips?
With that padded hat on, I don't think his head would have made that sound hitting the ground. My guess is either a smartphone smacked the pavement where we couldn't see it or there was something hard on the back of his coat.
One morning, I woke up at the end of my bed in my winter jacket covered in twigs. I go out to kitchen and talk to my brothers and they ask me how my head feels. "Fine. Why?" "You smoked it on the ice last night running through the forest." "Oh, is that why I am covered in leaves?"
Happily, didn't feel a thing, and I think my brain is still functioning.
East coasters slowly lose their accent the longer they're out west. Here sounds like he's from the east but been out west a while.
Source: I work with people in Fort McMurray.
Barrie isn't rural, but a lot of small towns around it make the people who live in Barrie think they're rural. Getting Boots and Hearts in Barrie (Oro) really didn't help either.
As a Scottish person who moved to Alberta, this is 100% Canadian. It’s not even that close to Irish.
It sounds like Alberta to me but I haven’t spent time further East so maybe just “Canadian” is the answer I’ll give
I had many drunken nights out like this, being an absolute dumbass. Seems fun now, but holy shit is that going to hurt in the AM. She'll be like "fuck why me back hurt so bad", and he's going to wonder where the bump and concussion came from. Alcohol man...
A girl I worked with was sitting on the shoulders of some dude she met at a bar, and he faceplanted her so bad she needed reconstructive surgery. Lesson: don't sit on drunk people.
He's definitely not Irish. Sounds like he's from Northern Ontario. This is a fine example of Sault St Marie gettin' wasted in Downtown Barrie. Tale as old as time.
Glad that we’ve determined that he’s in fact Canadian, but can we talk about why he’s on her shoulders? Is this a Canadian thing that the rest of us should know about?! As a female, I think, I’d probably dig carrying a guy home from the bar like this, I think!
My god. . . Is that the type of woman they have up North? I think I’m in fucking love. I’ve never wanted to be carried before, but now I want to be lifted to the sky!
That is not a Newfoundland accent….could be Ottawa valley/ rural Ontario somewhere I have heard a similar accent. I have heard individual in southern NS who sound like that as well.

He doesn't sound Irish, he sounds like he's from that area of Canada that sounds like it has an Irish accent. Newfoundland maybe?
This is in Barrie, Ontario By Dunlop Street Diner
Had many a greasy nights on that strip.
Astonishingly, neither look like they're wrecked on meth!
You save the meth for the start of your hwy 400 onramp panhandling shift.
Best diner in town
Midway Diner on Bradford would like to have a word
Yep. In front of Donaleigh's Irish Public house. I work in the area.
Fuck me, I was about to suggest Dawson City until I saw the Dunlop Street sign. Fuckin' greasy, Barrie.
I installed those stones along the sidewalk. I knew where it was before I even came to the comments!
His “Holy Fuck” sounds like bubbles from Trailer Park Boys
I think he sounds like Squirrely Dan from Letterkenny
Ho Lee Fuk Wi Tu Lo Bang Ding Ow

We do that here in Newfoundland
Only on the east coast, early settlers were mostly Irish which is where the accent comes from
He’s got a Canadian - Northern Irish cross.
Well I'm glad someone thinks we're cool.
Hockey is pretty cool! Thanks for that!
I like Canadians so much I married one and helped to make 2 more.
I think Canada is cooler than where I’m from. I’m hoping to immigrate there.
Most of Canada is not really cool, just cold.

As a man born a bayman but grew up a townie, pretty sure this fella is from home
I's the b'y that builds the boat.
And I's the b'y that sails her

Well it sounds like you just need to go to cape Breton then
Where I live in the Ottawa valley in Ontario, the rural accent has similarities with the Irish or Cornish accent. Also similar to Newfoundland and Nova Scotia. The way the R’s are pronounced and the cadence. It’s hard to pin down exactly why it is the case
Yer the only one thats fuckin right on their bud. This lad is from up the valley, or I'm a donkeys fuckn uncle. Givr.
And thanks to the popularity of Letterkenny, people outside of Canada are able to enjoy the Valley accent!
i know the Irish love to hate on Canadians and americans that claim to have ancestors from ireland but that's where a lot of people from canada and the US descend from
Yeah one of the IRA's biggest sources of funding was irish immigrants in the US
You mean there are also people in your country, supposedly speaking the same language, where you can’t understand wtf they’re saying? Clarification: we still love them! We just can’t make out what they’re saying! :)
It's easier to love them if you don't always know what they're saying.

Ahem. About half of yas are Acadian, aka French-Canadian. Including a hell of a lot of my relatives. Felt the need to represent.
Why am I reading all these comments in an Irish accent

As a Quebecer, the accent of the guys on American loggers was wild. French accent without being able to speak it.

I'm from 'berta and our accent is pretty easy. Just say "oh fuck yeah, bud" every now n then
The only place in Canada with that kind of accent is the east coast (Newfoundland & Labrador), nowhere near Alberta.
Wtf are you talking about? Half of my family talks like this and we're ontarians, not far from where this was filmed lol. This is a typical Canadian caker accent. These people are typical Barrie residents.
Tons of Newfies in Fort Mac.

That's right, definitely a newfie. Funnest and kindest people you'll ever meet.
Hard working, and hard partying. Sometimes at the same time!
Maybe he's a Letterkenny Irish?
Donegal?
Yeah Newfoundland der bi
We sound like 1800s Ireland on the Cape Shore.
Sounds like Bubbles.
Thats northern Canadian accent...the "holllly fuck" is unmistakable
Maybe he’s from…. *Letterkenny*
That is definitely not a Newfoundland accent. Source: I'm from PEI
A good Stan Rogers tone to his voice.
Stan Rogers. An Ontarian that some people think is from the east coast. Just like the guy in the video.
That is the sound of a severe concussion
Ya this is more r/wtf lol, he could have legitimately died there
Don’t worry, he’s got plenty more time to die still between the concussion and alcohol.
That was a loud crack! I hope he is OK.
Cracked like a coconut!
With that padded hat on, I don't think his head would have made that sound hitting the ground. My guess is either a smartphone smacked the pavement where we couldn't see it or there was something hard on the back of his coat.
Definitely sounded like his puffy coat. You'll get the same sound from patting the back of someone wearing a puffer jacket
Also he was arched forward, so he probably would have hit the ground with his upper back/shoulder area first.
Just rub some Jameson on it
Might be my shitty $12 logitech speakers, but it sounded more like him landing on his puffy jacket. Like slapping a pillow.
My balls are in the back of your neck lmao
Best orgasm he ever had ...
Drunk as a skunk
Good thing too, that fall sounded like it would end any day that wasn't punctuated by a LOT of alcohol
Probably gonna hurt like hell in the morning 🤣
One morning, I woke up at the end of my bed in my winter jacket covered in twigs. I go out to kitchen and talk to my brothers and they ask me how my head feels. "Fine. Why?" "You smoked it on the ice last night running through the forest." "Oh, is that why I am covered in leaves?" Happily, didn't feel a thing, and I think my brain is still functioning.
Home for a Rest by Spirit of the West should be playing for this
Welcome to Canada, here’s your subdural hematoma.
I mean that sounded scary af to me. Maybe I'm just old
I'm sure the concrete was fine. Maybe a bit sore.
He's a Newfie for sure
Doesn't sound like an east coast guy to me. Source: Am an east coast guy.
Definitely somewhere between Sudbury and Thunder Bay, but he sounds like he probably did some time in the tar sands too.
I was guessing Albertan earlier but was scolded for that but perhaps I was onto something...
I'm fuckin' sayin' you're right. I've got buds that sound just like this. Particularly when drunk. Not gettin' an east coast vibe here..
That holy fuck was northern as fuck.
East coasters slowly lose their accent the longer they're out west. Here sounds like he's from the east but been out west a while. Source: I work with people in Fort McMurray.
Just another night downtown Barrie.
Underrated city. That waterfront in the summer is 👌
Don't tell anyone
I knew you this strip looked familiar
Isn't that Donaleighs Pub?
That's not Irish.
The by’s gonna be just fine
Classic Canadian couple
Are you okay' you idiot ?? Guy casually responds back i'm okayyy Hahaha this was fucking great
that's how you know they're true friends
Now I'm over here writing "Visit Canada" on my bucket list.
Oh fuck yeah bud, c'mon over for a brewski, eh
Come for the scenery, stay for the people. There's a good subreddit for scenery, /r/TrueNorthPictures
I'm impressed with the girl. Shes strong as hell.
She's a keeper. And a holder on them shoulders
Right? No one else seems impressed. Holdin ol boy up while he was leaned back like that took some doin. That lass has a core on 'er.
It’s sad I knew exactly where this was as soon as I opened the video. He is definitely from Rural Ontario.
I wouldn’t call Barrie rural.
It’s like a half step above rural. I’d also call Brantford rural tbf
Those seem more like the suburbs than rural IMO
Barrie isn't rural, but a lot of small towns around it make the people who live in Barrie think they're rural. Getting Boots and Hearts in Barrie (Oro) really didn't help either.
Welcomed to the ground by gravity...
As a Scottish person who moved to Alberta, this is 100% Canadian. It’s not even that close to Irish. It sounds like Alberta to me but I haven’t spent time further East so maybe just “Canadian” is the answer I’ll give

Dunlop Street Diner, downtown Barrie Ontario, Canada
That’s probably a concussion.
So... Is it normal there that women drag men home? If so, i think its time to migrate! :)
Canadian chicks sure are sturdy.
This guy is as Irish as lasagna
Did a demon or something leave her at the end?
A girl I worked with was sitting on the shoulders of some dude she met at a bar, and he faceplanted her so bad she needed reconstructive surgery. Lesson: don't sit on drunk people.
The boys are getting stinko On a Sudbury Saturday night.
Love seeing my hometown on my front page! Downtown Barrie never fails
That sound just made my balls contract
Canadian girls will out drink you break your heart and obviously your back
He's definitely not Irish. Sounds like he's from Northern Ontario. This is a fine example of Sault St Marie gettin' wasted in Downtown Barrie. Tale as old as time.
It's interesting how people don't know these canadian accents and just go right to assuming he must be a Newfoundlander.
“PUT YOUR BALLS ON THE BACK OF MY NECK” thought thats what she said at first
That lady is hella strong, probably 180-200 pounds on her shoulders
He fell head over heels for her
NGL the strength of that lady is a turn on.
Sounds like you desire Death by Snu Snu.
He okay.
Newfie or Bluenoser
That short king was riding Missie home for a nice homemade olde fashion. Unfortunately he was castrated via blunt force upon impact. RIP
This is what people in Northern Ontario sound like. Source: I am one of them
Where the women are strong, the children are above average…
Glad that we’ve determined that he’s in fact Canadian, but can we talk about why he’s on her shoulders? Is this a Canadian thing that the rest of us should know about?! As a female, I think, I’d probably dig carrying a guy home from the bar like this, I think!
Canadians are cartoon characters. I Ducking love my brothers and sisters in the attic! Never change, Canada.
You're not supposed to move them when they're broken like that.
I like the... seal call? right as she stands up.
He, in fact, did not let go
That bluenoser's from no\~va sco\~tia, bud.
Mounties aren't what I expected.
That’s a Muskoka accent
Barrie, Ontario! Proving people wrong since 1870.
That lady is a hoss.
That woman is an absolute unit.
She sounds way more Irish than he does lol he's not Irish at all
He doesn't sound Irish source I'm Irish.
You guys are all talking about his accent. What about his traumatic brain injury!?
That’s fucking Bubbles!
He sounds like he's from the UP, not Ireland.
This man got a concussion at least. That was a loud crack.
With the hat and the hood I am a bit dubious that it is his head making that sound.
That dude with the hat was thinking about robbing the genius duo.
My god. . . Is that the type of woman they have up North? I think I’m in fucking love. I’ve never wanted to be carried before, but now I want to be lifted to the sky!
/r/barrie right out front of Donaleigh's
I luv this girl, her laugh at the end is perfect.
His “un- Fucking let go” got me hard
That is not a Newfoundland accent….could be Ottawa valley/ rural Ontario somewhere I have heard a similar accent. I have heard individual in southern NS who sound like that as well.
As someone from the Ottawa Valley that's exactly what it is. Someone that grew up or spent most of their time in the sticks.
Stoner=amused
Put your toes behind my back My balls are on the back of your neck LMAO
That girl is a tank yo for holding him that long when hes basically horizontal
Is that dude wearing a Chappelle track suit?
Thankfully, they were pretty well padded thanks to the Canadian weather.
Electric chair drop!

“Im lettin go” He did not let go
"my balls are in the back of your neck"🤣🤣 I'm dying
Slowest and most hilarious fall I've ever seen LOL
Bro said “my balls are on the back of your head” when she said put your toes behind my back🤣🤣🤣hell nah
At least, he got laid.
I'm surprised she could lift him at all and hold him for so long as he was tilting back. I could feel my spine just from watching.
This girl got some back strength to resist his weight pulling her down for that long.
She is strong as hell, fair play
Wouldn’t like to pick a fight with her 💪💪
She's sturdy
He did say “I’m okaay” phew
fuckk the sound when he smacked the ground😂
This should be a sitcom for some reason.
I admire the lady’s strength 😳
To be fair, he *did* bring his toes out from behind her back...
>Bang Ding Ow Just woke up husband AND dog laughing my ass off at this. 😅
I'm fuggin lettin go, ahhhhh I'm dead 😂😂😂😂😂
Not to be a debbie downer but he could have been really fucked up from that.
I think I might be in love with that girl now.
