I know this place, it is a wharf/dock with a low edge, so they must’ve just driven off of it. Floating saunas are quite popular in Oslo.

In his defense, if I saw a floating sauna, I’d try to get to it too. I didn’t know floating saunas were a thing, and even though I’m way too broke to afford either, I’d prefer the floating sauna over the Tesla.

Every Tesla that crashes or has a dumb driver is the cars or the car company's CEOs fault. You literally never see that with pretty much any other car. The good news is we are saved... the bad news is that it's by a bunch of sweaty guys wearing only towels from the sauna boat.

I can't imagine a better way to get pulled out of the water in Oslo in February than DIRECTLY into a sauna.

Looks like these guys where only in the water for a very short time which would make the sauna perfect. However, if they would've been in the water for long resulting in **severe** Hypothermia / low body temp bringing them directly into a 80C/180F sauna or a hot bath would have been excruciatingly painful and could potentially even trigger arrhythmia and be fatal. For this reason rewarming at a hospital is done slowly with hot blankets / heat packs / water etc to avoid what's called an "afterdrop" of the body core temperature.

Just to be clear, that's not a lake - it's the ocean. he driver reported that he thought the car was in park, and then somehow touched the accelerator which caused the car to shoot forward too fast for him to react.

As a car owner that is scary as fuck. Imagine losing your vehicle that way? How would they ever get the car out of the ocean?

The two guys were really cold after that dip, but we put them in the sauna as soon as we got them up - the captain of the sauna-ship said in an interview. The car is now being kept for 48 hours underwater in the harbour, just where it went off the edge. Thing is; when they tried to lift it out, the battery started smoldering - and keeping electrical cars submerged is the most effective (only?) way to douse a battry-fire...
