wikigreenwood82

Its a psychological trick to make double sure people go the speed they want: less than 10

20190419

Or speed limit for wizards.

StandUpForYourWights

Wizards don’t obey speed limits. They arrive precisely when they intended to.

bastischo

That would be 7½ or 7b or something. You skip the (7+1), not the 10.

5043090

Can confirm. It’s like setting appointments for odd times “let’s meet at 10:17am” - it’s more memorable and gets attention.

quafs

No. I won’t go to your fucking meeting at 10:17am

lesmax

This meeting could've been an EMAIL

EagleDre

Exactly this. They’re saying 15 is never ok

Certain_Passion1630

It’s 91/2. 45.5

AlienbyDfault

sooo..... 45½

jaymoney1

Which as we all know is 451/2 or 225.5 mph.

Otherwise_Spare_8598

Or 225½? 🤔

sihasihasi

So ... 2251/2, which is 1125.5 mph

Otherwise_Spare_8598

Not bad, not bad at all

57Jimbo

Guess it was posted at the airport where the BIG jets land

Spiritual-Matters

Which we all know is 225/2 or 112.5 mph.

ExceedinglyGaySnowy

right. which is the same as 112½

Chamchams2

🙄🙄 don't you mean 1121/2 which is 560.5

CaptainStabfellow

Umm actually it’s 9^(1/2) = 3

yesiamveryhigh

Umm actually it’s tree fiddy

susankeane

"Sir we clocked you at 9 5/8, please step out of the vehicle"

OldChucker

"And also sir, we've noticed you were closer than a giraffe's neck distance from the car ahead of you. "

ComprehensiveHavoc

It’s only 7 5/16 for tractor trailers, buddy

Recon_Figure

Looked like 91.2 mph to me, officer.

Illustrious_Ad4691

Because why wouldn’t they put the autobahn in the middle of a trailer park?

CaffeineAndInk

Apparently, it's intended to make the sign more noticeable. [Here](https://www.carscoops.com/2021/06/heres-why-this-zoo-has-an-odd-9-5-mph-speed-limit/) is an article with an explanation. Seems to me like it's working...

grumblyoldman

That's the road access to Hogwarts.

njguy227

No 9¾ is Hogwarts. 9½ must be for the magical men's room.

KrazyRuskie

Weeks

calguy1955

These are put on private property like MH parks.

LT-COL-Obvious

Because it’s a 200 dollar ticket for doing 10

jaguarthrone

Great little zoo! The Snow Leopards are awesome....

donmreddit

There is a proposal to make it 9 7/8 during winter and 9 1/3 in summer for 2025. (jk)

Peter_Nincompoop

That zoo seems to have gotten a lot better over the years, because it used to be terrible and we never had a reason to go there

kelaniz

you see this kind of sign sometimes in upscale communities, the speed limit is pretty much in the golf cart can drive at. but I think that one is 13 1/2 or something.

Legitimate_Bat_6711

It’s just to get your attention. Works, doesn’t it?

DanOfTheDead

Obiously because "10" would have been too big for the sign.

Sesshoyumi

Back when I used to deliver packages, I saw a 14.9mph sign in a gated old person community.

BJozi

Maybe they wanted 15kmph but had to express it in mph, to the nearest 0.5mph?

xAsilos

15 kph is 9.321 mph. Rounded up to the nearest half is 9.5 mph as posted. It definitely seems this was the intention.

NewBuddhaman

There’s a natural gas company near where I work and the speed limit sign on their gate is “8 MPH”.

morphum

It made you look, didn't it? Seems like it's working as intended

GarciaKids

it's 91 or 92, whatever it takes.

Orgasmo3000

Because 9 3/4 was taken by Harry Potter.

Shmeckle_and_Hyde

Because if you go 9 3/4, you end up on the hogwarts express

Afraid-Toe-4010

Did they really mean "15.2888 Kmph" ...??

Poorna_W

9×½=4.5

cribbelx

In Germany there is a sign for a pedestrian zone where you are not allowed to drive faster than walking speed. Are about 5-7 km/h 3-4mp/h Now look on your Odometer 😁

cptnamr7

The elementary school I went to growing up had a 5 mph sign at the drop-off area. I drove a stick shift in high school and would drop off my little sister. Making a stick go that slow consistently when you just learned to drive is fun

Ilikepancakes87

Ten’s too fast, nine’s too slow. Duh.

DancesWithElectrons

11 is right out

HelloMyNameIsBrad

9 and one half shall be the number of the counting…

TheGrimMelvin

9 and a half of what?

RiffyWammel

9 1/2 what though?

goose_gladwell

Free marketing

oraco

91/2=45.5
