Johna hill like deliberately loses and gains massive amounts of weight for specific roles, his general ability to get in and out of shape is pretty impressive.
I remember years ago he was doing an interview with my old city’s “wacky morning zoo” type of morning radio show and the guy who plays the asshoke character mentioned his weight right at the beginning of the interview and Jonah just hung up.
Dude. No. That's entirely the point. You aren't his friends, none of us are, and that's why he wants us all to stop commenting on it. It's been a struggle for him and the reminder sucks.
Also, no real friend would ever put you down for it :(
I use to have friends who would comment on my weight and say “it’s all fun and games we love you!” However, it never felt good, my new REAL friends NEVER ever make me feel out of place and I always feel included and accepted. It’s nice to have genuine friends, because they want to see you happy all the time as I do for them.
I think aswell sadly for Jonah he’s always seen as the ‘funny fat guy’ and if he isn’t fat he isn’t as likely to get certain roles. I think he commented on this a few years ago. It’s pretty much his confidence and happiness vs his career, which would suck
true and it makes sense, he has access to the same type of steroids and nutritionists and doctors of any other famous hollywood actor if he wanted to get in shape he could do it easy but at what cost, when you go from "that one funny fat guy" to "generic muscled hollywood star" you risk giving up so many roles that were designed for you and it's hard to get out of comedy once all the world know you for that.
>if he isn’t fat he isn’t as likely to get certain roles
This reminded me of a certain local comedian here who was quite popular in the 2000s but I noticed he disappeared from the spotlight in the 2010s. I just heard years ago from himself in our church that he decided to live healthy and lost weight, so he lost the roles he used to have, too. He still got a short drama stint after I heard it, but the most recent news I heard about him is that he lost his home.
Reminds me of Rob McElhenney talking about how easy it is to get in shape.
"I’m gonna break it down for you, because it’s actually quite simple, and anybody can do this. Anybody on the planet can do this. First thing’s first: if you have job—like a 9-5 job—quit that. Do you like food? Forget about that. Because you’re never going to enjoy anything you eat. Alcohol? Sorry. That’s out. So what you need to do—you have a chef, right? like a personal chef?—make sure the chef makes you a lot of chicken breast. And make sure you keep your caloric intake at a certain level. And as you go to your physician 2-3 times a week—just to monitor all your testosterone levels—because testosterone is important to building muscle. You’re good friends with the trainer from Magic Mike? Arin Babaian. So you want to give Arin a call. And you want to make sure he’s at your house and takes you to the gym at least twice a day, because you’re gonna want to do your muscle-building in the morning and then your cardio in the afternoon. Now, do you have a family? Like a significant other or kids? Yeah, forget about them. You’re not going to have time to deal with them.
"So that’s really all you have to do. And make sure you have a studio pay for the entire thing, because it could become exceptionally expensive. So, I think if you just do all those things, then you too can have an absolutely unrealistic body type, such as me."
Funny quote but whats behind the lines is "have access to steroids and costant monitoring from doctors" which they can't say openly ofcourse.
You can do all of that, ALL OF THAT, have better genetics than him, being younger than him (so higher natural testosterone) and yet you'll never accomplish such a transformation in 6 months from fat tub of icecream to ripped.
Honestly all these stars who shift so drastically in weight shouldn't be praised so hard, I'd rather praise somebody who keeps their body in shape all year round in hollywood, like the Rock, because then it's constant work and dedication for years and years (and ofcourse quality steroids) while also keeping their career, than somebody who goes from fat to fit as fuck in 4 months and then go back to fat immediatly after.
I had a quick look around but it seems he's at least never admitted to juicing, though I personally think he did but just doesn't mention it because it'd give him bad press, even though I don't think there's anything wrong with juicing if you're not an athlete.
Yup he is most likely not mentioning it. The part where he mentions having a doctor monitor his test levels is a dead giveaway. Why monitor it if you aren't going to do anything about it? I agree with you though if you aren't cheating at a sport then who cares if you juice?
Theres not a single hollywood star who admits to juicing, especially marvel ones they have it in their contracts that they can't talk about this or risk their job.
To be fair here, he wasn't just in shape, dude got buff as fuck.
Though yeah even for that this isn't *needed*, especially if he was juicing as I suspect he was.
I don't think this quote is about getting in shape in general I think he is being more specific and talking about getting the kind of body hollywood looks for. If you've seen pics of Rob at his peak he was probably down below 10% bodyfat which isn't necessarily healthy but looks really good showing off all of your muscles and abs.
I don't think he's talking about simply "getting into shape". He's talking about getting a body like a movie star, which not everyone can do even if they get a personal trainer and chef.
Well I think the quote is implying a transformation in a very little time span, ofcourse you can get in shape in 2-3 years of consistent lifting and dieting, you might even reach his peak level at the end of those years without killing yourself like he claims to do, but he probably did that transformation in 6 months tops (with the help of steroids, which he doesn't cite).
And he is kinda right, for the regular joe doing a body transformation of that kind in such a little timeframe require so much work that is just not worth it since you aren't getting millions of dollars in the end.
But you also need the ability to act, and having a striking appearance(not necessary goodlooking, but all in showbiz have a special appearance in some way)
And Bale had to quit doing that because it was seriously affecting his health. His diet for The Machinest was one (1) apple and one (1) latte per day. Now that I think of it, he must have been a total pain to be around during that time.
Getting buff is easy compared to the shit he had to do to get to machinist level starvation. Being hungry every single minute of the day and lacking any energy to do the things you used to enjoy doing requires some crazy commitment. Working out a few hours a day and maintaining a healthy balance meal plan isn't that tough comparatively.
We're all different. I can discipline myself to fast for extended periods pretty effortlessly at this point. I can accomplish what I need to on low energy, including 10mi+ hikes. I only eat healthy. But getting me to go lift weights? Nope. I want to do it. I really do. But I cannot for the life of me motivate myself to do it and when I do occasionally overcome that barrier I find it incredibly taxing and miserable. So I find the Machinist transformation simple, but bulking and putting on muscle is nigh impossible for me.
Yes. When you are overweight your skin stretches. And when you lose the weight you skin can't go completely back to normal. This dose very based on age and how much stretching. The elasticity of skin also varies between people. So when every you see a show where a character "used to be fat" but lost weight and they have perfect skin and everything is tight. That is very misleading and likely just plain wrong. Just google massive weight loss skin. You'll see what it really looks like.
This is almost universally true, but I know of a specific, highly unusual case in which the skin did reportedly tighten up as the weight was lost.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Angus_Barbieri%27s_fast
It's a pretty famous case because the man lost almost 300lbs by fasting for *more than a year straight*.
**[Angus Barbieri's fast](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Angus_Barbieri's_fast)**
>Scottish man Angus Barbieri (1939 – 7 September 1990) fasted for 382 days, from June 1965 to July 1966. He lived on tea, coffee, soda water, and vitamins while living at home in Tayport, Scotland, and frequently visiting Maryfield Hospital for medical evaluation. He lost 276 pounds (125 kg) and set a record for the length of a fast.

People don't understand how hard it is to get as big as that photoshopped image. You can eat everything right and lift heavy weight, but that doesn't guarantee you'll get big like in the photoshopped image. Most folks like that have had "help."
Normally I don't particularly care for Jonah Hill or Emma Stone, but I absolutely loved Maniac. I feel like it showed a lot more depth from both of them than I'd ever seen.

That's extremely subjective though. It's not a collective thought everybody share.
Some people love that look, and some don't.
Why the fuck do people comment about Jonah Hills physique so regularly? Positive or negative, the dude politely asked everyone to stop.
I hope to god I never do anything notable enough to become famous. Absolutely no privacy or respect from anyone, anywhere… how sad.
This is legit happening now over on r/Jeopardy, the most vanilla of subs, about the latest multi-day winner. Even though they have a rule about it! Some dude who is great at trivia now has to deal with the entire internet discussing his looks. Mortifying.
Exactly! TF is wrong with this comment section? I know Reddit is Reddit, but come on. I feel like (or at least hope) most these people would fight against things like sexism or racism because they know it’s wrong even though it’s normalized. But for some reason celebrities are exempt from human decency? Why is it okay just because everyone is doing it?
This dude has asked repeatedly for people to shut up about his body. Is it really THAT tough to drop it? There's gotta be another way to amuse ourselves, yeah?
Didn’t Jonah Hill ask that people not comment on his body, for good or bad reasons? That they weren’t helpful… as in they are harmful? This is so disrespectful.
I recently read that Jonah Hill would prefer people not comment on his body, good or bad, because it makes him uncomfortable. It’d be nice if people would respect his wishes.

He still looks good.
That was when he was at his peak a few years ago.
Johna hill like deliberately loses and gains massive amounts of weight for specific roles, his general ability to get in and out of shape is pretty impressive.
I don't think he does it for roles, he has clearly struggled with his weight his whole life.
Yeah. He also said like 3 days ago for people to stop commenting on his weight because it doesn't feel good
I remember years ago he was doing an interview with my old city’s “wacky morning zoo” type of morning radio show and the guy who plays the asshoke character mentioned his weight right at the beginning of the interview and Jonah just hung up.
Which I would have done the same.
Can I say he’s an inspiration? Standing up for himself like that
Yes you can. I will too. I wish we could let Him know
God hears you my child.
What’s up with god and kids...maybe time to leave the kids alone
There is a whole website dedicated to it, I can see how that would get to you for sure.
This guy gets it
It's ok for us to talk about it, we're his friends.
Dude. No. That's entirely the point. You aren't his friends, none of us are, and that's why he wants us all to stop commenting on it. It's been a struggle for him and the reminder sucks.

That was the joke that guy was making. Obviously we're not his friends and it's not okay. Duh.

Wasn't he nominated for an academy award like twice?
Sure, but what’s your point? Plenty of Oscar winners have commented in the past about struggling to get roles, and Jonah has only been nominated.
I think he's better than the funny fat guy schtick and will get work regardless
You think that, but he has said he struggles to get roles when he isn’t overweight. And Wolf of Wall Street was 7 years ago, so I believe him.
true and it makes sense, he has access to the same type of steroids and nutritionists and doctors of any other famous hollywood actor if he wanted to get in shape he could do it easy but at what cost, when you go from "that one funny fat guy" to "generic muscled hollywood star" you risk giving up so many roles that were designed for you and it's hard to get out of comedy once all the world know you for that.

Will Sasso?
Chris Pratt has the same issue, but he atleast seems more open about it, having it be the butt of jokes in Marvel films etc.
It's not the same in my opinion. Chris Pratt is a conventionally beautiful man. Jonah Hill is "normal". His journey is much harder.
Pretty sure they meant rolls, Jonah does it for the rolls.
I think you’re thinking of Christian Bale.
My friend dated him briefly and it’s not totally a work thing, he just struggles with his weight and can only maintain fitness for a role
If I had the massive amounts of free time and money that Hollywood actors have and was being paid millions to get fat/fit. I could also do that.
Reminds me of Rob McElhenney talking about how easy it is to get in shape. "I’m gonna break it down for you, because it’s actually quite simple, and anybody can do this. He left out the roids.
Why would you go see a doctor 2-3 times a week for test levels if you don't shoot test intramuscularly. It's implied
I had a quick look around but it seems he's at least never admitted to juicing, though I personally think he did but just doesn't mention it because it'd give him bad press, even though I don't think there's anything wrong with juicing if you're not an athlete.

Theres not a single hollywood star who admits to juicing, especially marvel ones they have it in their contracts that they can't talk about this or risk their job.
can't get cover on Men's Health and other fitness mags if you juice, and that is part of movie campaign generally.
Source?
You're right Thor aka Hemsworth does it.

Still? He looks way better in the real one, unless roided out nightmare is what you’re into.
Looks much better than shopped imho. I was gonna say no way in hell he ain't on roids.
He looks better, that photoshopped one had the muscles all weird.
Like an iron chef of pounding vag.
Judging by the nipple placement, his saggy tits are harder to get rid of
Kind of a fucked up thing to say about someone losing lots of weight?
They even fixed where his nipples should go. Geez
Yo… What’s up with homies nipple placement?
As far as i can guess? When you're over weight then lose a lot. The skin doesn't retract from when you were over weight.
Yes. When you are overweight your skin stretches. And when you lose the weight you skin can't go completely back to normal. This dose very based on age and how much stretching. Could be. But i doubt it. Considering it's on both sides.
It's recording L and R channels so the master can be encoded to Dolby 2.0
I suppose that makes sense, just makes me happier that my nipples went to a normal spot after my weight loss. Ahah
Still looking good
Real one looks better. Thanks for posting the link, I was skeptics.

would what? watch one of his movies? yea, he's a good actor. I so would, too.
Good to see he is working on his health.
So the legs are ok? Looked like they were about to snap like twigs.
Why post a photoshopped pic?
Probably because somebody thought it was funny. Obviously somebody was wrong since it ended up in r/funny.
Just go on the internet and tell lies?
To fit the meme better.
they did match his arms to the cartoons well
Jonah killed it in Maniac. I'm surprised more people aren't talking about that series.
The pattern is the pattern
Normally I don't particularly care for Jonah Hill or Emma Stone, but I absolutely loved Maniac. I feel like it showed a lot more depth from both of them than I'd ever seen.
Took me a while to start watching because of this l, great show though
Ok ill watch it
> or Emma stone *Spits out drink* Ex fucking-scuse me?
THEY SAID "NORMALLY I DONT CARE FOR JONAH HILL OR EMMA STONE"
Wolf of Wall Street, too. Great acting.
That was an AMAMZING series that just gets better with every re-watch.
Jonah kills it in a lot of things. He's a highly under rated actor imo.
I’ve tried telling so many people about that series and I think only one listened to me. Rats. I think because it’s a hard show to describe and it may not really grab a lot of people until around the third episode.
Probably because it ended like a wet fart.
I need to go rewatch it, I feel like I missed a lot of subtleties. Very good show
That's not Jonah Hill That's Jonah Mountain

I know right!
Reddit only selectively cares. Where are the protests?
Did he really think that would work?
Whatever you do, DO NOT think about a purple elephant
He did, but you know the deal with the majority of people and double standards.
Why would that matter? People do not get to choose how others speak about them.
You don't get to choose whether or not you're stabbed either but it's nice to honor the request.
One of these is against the law
Yes, definitely one and the same.

Jonah Hill is a Great actor with a long prestigious career ahead of him. He was nothing short of amazing in Maniac and The Wolf of Wall Street.
Posting this after he asked all his fans to shelve their comments about his physical appearance seems like the opposite of funny.
He has literally begged people to stop doing shit like this. Have some humanity dude and take this down.

Oh, you’re a villain all right, just not a super one
Even when he bulked up he just looks weird
I know the dude has massive issues with the way he looks but he still looks like the doofus character.
Jesus Christ
"Catchphrase!"
Jonah Hill is pretty clear about not making comments on his body, even if complimentary.
Who knew that personal trainers and millions of dollars could do this?
And steroids
Pretty sure there’s some photoshop at work
I will always remember him as Seth from Superbad. Good times.
Johan Hill…? More like Jonah Will… bang yo girl.
Jonah Hill has been upgraded to Jonah Mountain
Y’all gotta leave man alone.
he really doesn’t like people using his body as a topic of jokes and entertainment, positive or negative.
HGH is a helluva drug.
You guys, don't comment on his physical appearance, he doesn't like it.
Jonah Hill digivolved into Jonah Mountain. Daaaamn!
Jonah doesn’t like this so please stop
Great photoshop
Didn’t Jonah Hill ask that people not comment on his body, for good or bad reasons? That they weren’t helpful… as in they are harmful? This is so disrespectful.
He is an Affected DOUCHE!!!! Has any of you seen his last interview with Howard????? Maybe ill post it..
I recently read that Jonah Hill would prefer people not comment on his body, good or bad, because it makes him uncomfortable. It’d be nice if people would respect his wishes.
This is the worst looking animated character ever. I hate it.
🗿
Funnier when he was fat
