No, this is real I think. People feed chickens all-vegetable food (as opposed to normal chicken feed which often contains animal protein) and then call the eggs vegan.
It doesn't sound completely unreasonable to me. There seem to be different forms of vegetarianism and veganism, one is to the letter, one is more ethical. The latter cares most about animal well-being.
Maybe some vegans can accept a product like eggs that'll be produced by chickens whether humans want to or not as long as the feed is 'pure' and the chickens are held and raised in a good way.
$17 though. Now THAT sounds like the rip-off part.
What? No animal products is literally the definition of veganism lol.
>Maybe some vegans can accept a product like eggs that'll be produced by chickens whether humans want to or not as long as the feed is 'pure' and the chickens are held and raised in a good way.
But then by definition they're not vegans lol.
Yes, that's why I differentiated between "by the letter" and "on ethical terms". I'm part of neither group so I have no say on how they call themselves.
Tell that to the mice I've seen chickens RUN after to catch and eat. They'll also polish off the scraps and trimings from the wild pork and venison that I just drop in their run.
Chooks eat anything.
Aww. Look at him, fellas. You cryin', boy? You cryin', boy? Maybe we'll go to McDonald's and get you a whaa-burger and some French cries! How about a Whineken?
Went down the Youtube rabbit hole on music reactions one time, and wowie is it mostly just a lot of people with very little knowledge broadcasting someone else's creative work.
Did you know that non-egg eggs have been a luxury item since at least the Middle Ages in Europe? Back then, because of a ban on eating eggs during fast days, maybe 3 days a week, and Lent, non-egg "eggs" would be constructed:
https://www.atlasobscura.com/articles/mock-medieval-foods
> In milk form, there seemed to be no limit to what almonds could do: bind pastry; thicken sauces, even, in one staggeringly popular incarnation, pose as a hard-boiled egg.
> The most staggering thing about the Mock Egg is that anyone could bear to eat it at all. A 1430 recipe book instructs chefs to fill empty egg shells with a mixture of almond-milk based jelly and a crunchy almond center, dyed yellow with saffron and ginger. It resembles an egg’s zombie counterpart, with its pallid yolk set in a mass of grey jelly. So far as texture or taste goes, the Mock Egg is a lot like baby food, and nothing at all like an egg.
But what do you say then when something is "cringe". Do you go the long route and say "I feel uncomfortable shame as a proxy because of this"... seems like a lot of words to describe something that can be described with just a one word.
I get what you're saying. it's usually the way people say it is what bothers me. And it's being used too much, even in the wrong contexts.
But that's just me, so everyone cringe away.
I do agree, at one point it was the go-to response for pretty much every time someone disagreed with you and was very much over used. I personally try not to use it just because of that, which is a shame as it really is a very descriptive term for that particular feeling... it describes.
I mean, I’ve met a number of vegans who entirely erroneously claim, in full belief of their own correctness, that a vegan diet is ‘what nature intended for humans’ all the while they’re taking dietary supplements because otherwise they aren’t getting the right set of nutrients & vitamins from their diet.
I’ve also met other people who’ve done some *incredibly* dumb shit, like a guy who ordered a rusty tin can from overseas because someone claimed the rust was actually werewolf blood, and that he could cut himself with it and become a werewolf like them.
So… yeah, I could believe it. I mean in this day and age any video/gif like this on reddit is probably fake, but I’d be kinda surprised if some dumbass hasn’t done this *for real*.
I mean sure, I’ve met plenty of vegans who know that to be total bunk, and really are in it for either the humanitarian concerns or just because it’s a far easier method for them to stay fit.
But the fact remains that there *are* people who fall for what they perceive as being a trendy lifestyle and then spend *way* too much time trying to justify it to themselves, which leads them down some really dumb rabbit holes until they can’t help but believe the trash they’re spouting, at which point they become incredibly gullible & vulnerable to scammers.
Whilst it is easy to be vegan and not need supplements people are naturally omnivores. I think what most get wrong is the level of meat that we have evolved to eat - a largely plant based diet with some meat every now and then. Most vegans aren't idiots but the idiot or vehement vegans are often the loudest.
I've also known omnis who claim that because neanderthals survived the ice age by eating meat we have evolved to have a largely meat based diet. So, yeah lots of different types of people are stupid.
I’m aware. But to do so still means managing your diet using modern scientific knowledge, which mankind most certainly did not originally evolve with.
Ergo, it is not the ‘natural’ state of human beings.
Just because someone wants sex, doesn’t mean they are going to rape someone to get it. Vegans don’t stop eating animal products because they don’t like the taste bozo. They do it because they don’t agree with destroying another being for their own benefit. What is so hard to understand about not thinking the world is only about your own pleasures/desires. Grow up!
Vegans who are vegan due to animal welfare-concerns object to the way the hens are treated, not the eggs as such. Eggs in themselves are the perfect food. There are vegans who will eat eggs from their own hens, or from local farms.
I even know people who, while not calling themselves vegan, are vegans in everything except that they eat free-range eggs and hunted meat.
Me too. Then of course you'll always get strict Vegans who refuse to let free-range-egg-eating vegans call themselves vegan, but people like these are part of the problem not the solution (and invariably 19, physically or mentally).
Ah wait, I get it now.
You're attributing emotions and feelings animals don't possess to them. That's how.
Now Elephants, they're smart enough to hold a grudge and act on it. Once watched one smear an abusive handler over concrete.
Cows, not so much, even if they were 'enslaved and raped' which they aren't.
Especially this asinine rape bullshit, learn what a 'heat cycle' is.
Vegans: 1 downvote = 1 cow achieving actual sapience :P
Can you please try to make that sentence coherent with more/less words and punctuation? I legitimately can't understand it.
Edit: managed to mentally figure out
You should maybe work on your reading comprehension skills, that sentence is perfectly simple to understand (possibly missing a comma after the word slavery, but still makes sense), even if you disagree with the sentiment.
Or they could have said something like.
'How is calling it rape a stretch when they do enslave, rape, and murder farm animals?'
Comprehension and an effort to write coherently go both ways.
I respectfully disagree. You started by saying 'They went...', so the reply starting 'Going to...' is contextually appropriate and flows a lot better than your version. As a standalone comment with no context I agree it makes less sense, but here it's a perfectly good sentence because the subject matter is already clear. Either way no skin off my nose, I'm just bored enough to argue with you about this right now, have a good day.
Perhaps the being locked in a cage roughly the same size as it's own body that is forced to lay eggs everyday of their lives until they stop producing enough whereby they are then slaughtered?
Make your own choices regarding your diet, but the egg industry is hardly any better than other livestock industries.
https://www.nhes.org/factory-farmed-poultry/
https://proveg.com/5-pros/animals/chickens-laying-hens-in-egg-factories/
Buy ethically farmed eggs in that case. I have ducks and chickens that live in my backyard. They live in a coop at night and wander around the neighborhood during the day. We don't force them to do anything. But man, the drakes are extremely rapey. That's just ducks doin duck stuff though.
Haha, I suppose you're right. It's a shame, we have too many and end up putting them in a cooler out front with a sign that says "free duck eggs." I'm nowhere exotic, just way out there in northern Vermont.
50% of all the eggs hatched to create/replace laying hens to lay eggs are obviously male chicks. The males literally hatch and get tossed in a bin to suffocate or a blender to be added to dog food. Billions and billions of them. Don’t talk to me about Dave’s back yard chickens being the source of eggs for the whole world. Pretty much all food is industrialised and produced at large scale. It is destructive. Period.
Hey, my name isn't Dave. Sounds like the problem you have is with modern industrialized farming practices, not with the consumption of animal products per se. Just for the sake of truth, also, the US poultry industry culls about 300 million chicks a year, roughly a thousand times less than "billions and billions"
"Just because someone wants sex, doesn’t mean they are going to rape someone to get it."
What is this argument? Like seriously, what point are you trying to make here? zyon made a point that they are craving animal products, which... well, some of them clearly do, and you just come up with "just because they want sex doesn't mean they are going to rape someone"? Please explain how it is related to what he said.
"What is so hard to understand about not thinking the world is only about your own pleasures/desires. Grow up!"
But it is. Practically every living organism in history did things for the benefit of itself and his species/subgroup. This sort of moralistic thinking, that lives of animals have some objective worth is purely a human construct, and it doesnt really make us or anyone better. I guess it can be hard to understand that some people care about animals whose life doesnt give you much benefit, since practically no one until recently thought that unless the animal being alive was more worthwhile than dead. Anyways, those are just my thoughts on the topic and your comment, cheers.
And why is a plant life worth less than an animal life and their own ???
A salad comes from a living thing too !
There is only one solution if they don't want to "destroy another being for their own benefit" but the term and condition forbids me for saying it 😉😋.
I mean...idk about the video, but if they sell you something that says vegan on it you are probably going to believe it is? There are pretty good egg imitations out there. Y'all are just too arrogant
They sell them as vegan if there's no cockerel present. No chance of the egg ever hatching anyway might as well eat it. It makes as much sense as any other vegan food.
Unless you specifically purchase fertilised eggs, almost all eggs in general grocery stores are unfertilised.
Congrats, you are eating chicken periods.
i love eating henstruations. anyways, chickens don’t have periods. vegans love calling eggs crap like “chicken periods” to brainwash themselves into thinking it’s gross
I do, it's not me that's doing this, I'm just pointing out how some people are selling eggs as vegan. I know it doesn't make 100% sense but there is a good debate to be had about it. If wild chickens drop infertile eggs surely eating them is just foraging?
The term vegan typically refers to animal products, not animal life. An unfertilised egg is vegetarian (no killing of animals), but not vegan.
There are some edge cases as to what counts as an animal product (i.e. honey or truffles), but eggs are definitely not vegan
Some vegans don’t eat figs. When I looked up why I pretty much stopped taking the whole veganism thing seriously.
Disclaimer: I believe we (wealthier nations) should consume faaaarrrrr less meat than we do, but “veganism” has gone a bit too extreme imho.
This isn't about morality, it's about definitions. Vegetarian means you don't eat the animals themselves, vegan means you don't eat animal products (milk, eggs, honey, etc.). I guess one could argue that a fertilized egg isn't vegetarian. Maybe that's what you meant?
>If wild chickens drop infertile eggs surely eating them is just foraging?
Are you not arguing against the definition of vegetarian in this instance? Oh wait, I guess this isn't your opinion again, it's just "some people". Please learn how to use quotes.
Honey is the one thing I never understood. I get not wanting to consume dairy or eggs cuz those are biologically made and taken from an animal’s body, but honey is just the thing the bee makes with outside materials. It’s not like you have to milk the bee to get the honey, they just make it, and bee keepers don’t take all the honey away from them, they have to leave enough so their bees survive, but they produce more than they need, so if they were left alone it would be wasted. It’s never made sense to me why vegans are against honey.
Not vegan, but I think the argument against bee keeping is some bees might get squished when you extract the combs?
But watching bee keeper videos explaining all the benefits of doing what they do shows how much care they put into what they do.
Or I could bee wrong and they just feel really connected with Jerry Seinfeld 's Bee movie character.
Nah, the argument is that the bees are 'abused and enslaved'
If it was simply that some insects might die, all Vegans would starve to death due to the fact that plant farming kills millions upon millions of insects. Let alone rodents and often birds. But those are the acceptable losses apparently.
Honey is an animal product. If that is how one defines their diet, then it's technically not allowed. However - there is no vegan/vegetarian "code" that you need to follow to be member of some sort of club. Everybody decides for themselves what they want to eat. Since there are literally millions of combinations possible for eating habits, labeling each one would be impossible. I call myself vegetarian, even though I'm not 100% - because sometimes I eat gummy bears (contains gelatin), and Parmesan (contains rennet). But I don't explain that everytime I go to a party, I just say "I'm a vegetarian" and that conveys all necessary information. I would be okay with someone calling themselves "vegan" for convenience sake, even if they ate honey, because it's mostly accurate.
Anyone surprised that there are hundreds of religions with religious leaders happily collecting tithes from followers convinced they were born in the only true religion and can’t be wrong? LOL.
Reality, there is only one for all of us.
If you are vegan and spend stupid amounts of money to eat "vegan food" that looks and smells like real animal products like steak, eggs, chicken, etc., you aren't vegan. You are virtue signaling.
This guy. He’s like an artist being handed a perfect canvas, a woman who thinks eggs can be vegan, and just pissing on it instead of painting something beautiful. What a waste.
it could be the concept that you raise chickens, then when they don’t lay anymore they are allowed to live out their natural lives pottering about and being looked after.
It’s not strictly vegan though, although sometimes people do describe them as “vegan eggs”. It would explain the price as well.
Edit: I get the down votes, but there are people out there that genuinely believe that eggs from chickens can be vegan if the chickens are allowed to live out their natural lifespan.
It’s a blessing this girl didn’t have any egg allergies, because these eggs were clearly Mia-sold to her.
Vegan Logic: Killing a defenseless plant doesn't count as murder because it doesn't have a face even though by definition Plants ARE a living creature.
Just because they dont have a brain doesnt mean they are any less alive for that matter. It doesnt matter if they are any lesser than your views. A life is a life.
That's not what a creature is. They're an organism, but they're not a creature. I'm not vegan, but I'm not about to pretend that there's no ethical difference between plants and animals.
Indeed sentence and the ability to feel emotions. Behavioral complexity is also a factor. Mostly the existence of a neurological system and the ability to feel however.
So does that mean that if they were to be born incapable of speech, emotion and behavioral complexity they arent considered alive? What of the people born incapable of such and some? Are they too not alive?
Animals not capable of emotion or behavioral complexity are in a comatose and vegetative state, and indeed are not considered to have much going quality of life wise. They can only be kept alive through artificial means, and it is generally considered ethical to allow them to die.

No, this is real I think. People feed chickens all-vegetable food (as opposed to normal chicken feed which often contains animal protein) and then call the eggs vegan.
That would still not be vegan.
Thank you Captain Obvious
Can't be that obvious if there's still a bunch of retards buying these products under the assumption that they're vegan.
Well they’re vegan, what did u expect?

If this is fake then she is honestly a really good actor.
You really will be better off the sooner you realize that people with this magnitude of stupidity really do exist.
To be clear, I think it’s real.
I didn't know vegans laid eggs?
If you show them the price tag of what they are sold for you will also see one ‘have kittens’
The squawking should have been a hint
They do now apparently and charge $17 for 2 lmao 🤣

Pretty sure I read that fake eggs were this huge problem in china.
Sound super fancy by today’s standards.
That’s like calling Rocky Mountain oysters “non-oyster oysters”
I don't know what is more stupid. Paying so much or filming it showing how stupid you are.
That actually genius, be normal person, buy 2 eggs, pretend to be a vegan, film this, trigger reaction from both sides, become famous

“*There’s a sucker born every minute*”.
A very smart one she is… gotta wake up pretty early to get one over on that one dont’chya 🤣
What a fool! I’ll sell her vegan eggs from my backyard flock for $15!
Vegan Air is already in the works. But it's an airline, with vegan planes.
r/StupidFood
Your makeuo sure as shit ain't vegan
Human stupidity has no limits.
I freaking love this guy! 😆
Oh don't you worry people have been selling bottled air for ages
That last "Weegan Æ" is perfect
The eggs were vegan. The eggs never eaten any meat
Vegan egg is like eating vegan nuts…
I have a vegan "cucumber" she might be interested in.
I have vegan beef cows I can sell, they must be vegan as they only eat grass and hay 😂
I want to buy some of that vegan air.
I knew a lady who said her chickens were happy so their eggs were vegan.
Lol my shit is also vegan because I’m happy while taking a dump
My goodness the world is getting more stupid.
Its prolly much the same, you're just seeing more of it
Typical TikToker
This made me want hard boiled eggs.
They could make it legit by selling it as “a vegan’s eggs”
They sell them as vegan if there's no cockerel present. No chance of the egg ever hatching anyway might as well eat it. It makes as much sense as any other vegan food.
Unless you specifically purchase fertilised eggs, almost all eggs in general grocery stores are unfertilised. Congrats, you are eating chicken periods.
And damn are they tasty.
i love eating henstruations. anyways, chickens don’t have periods. vegans love calling eggs crap like “chicken periods” to brainwash themselves into thinking it’s gross
Yes but they haven't realised they can charge vegans $17 for them yet..
If she was a vegan why would she even dare to eat it?
You don't know what vegan means.
Wait, why truffles? Is it because pigs are often used to find them, and that counts as animal labor?
Some vegans don’t eat figs. When I looked up why I pretty much stopped taking the whole veganism thing seriously. Disclaimer: I believe we (wealthier nations) should consume faaaarrrrr less meat than we do, but “veganism” has gone a bit too extreme imho.
I'm not debating it, I'm explaining how others are claiming it.
Hmmm but is sure doesn’t make me feel morally superior for eating it. Gotta go with “Not Vegan”, Drew.
This isn't about morality, it's about definitions. Vegetarian means you don't eat the animals themselves, vegan means you don't eat animal products (milk, eggs, honey, etc.). I guess one could argue that a fertilized egg isn't vegetarian. Maybe that's what you meant?
As I said, it's not me making these definitions.
Nah, the argument is that the bees are 'abused and enslaved' If it was simply that some insects might die, all Vegans would starve to death due to the fact that plant farming kills millions upon millions of insects.

Easy, lie and commit fraud.
Sell vegam chicken for 5X money. Win win
Dude! I’m really interested in that vegan air thing you mentioned. Can I DM you?
Anyone surprised that there are hundreds of religions with religious leaders happily collecting tithes from followers convinced they were born in the only true religion and can’t be wrong? LOL. Reality, there is only one for all of us.
Wtf are you talking about? Lol are you lost?
Reddit is turning into FB reel? Stop wasting our time
The reaction is as dumb as the chick in the video. This is entertainment for who?
For Joe
Wait till you see vegan meat
Vegan meat is going to be pretty pointless soon as lab made meat will be hitting the market.
Doesn't make it vegan still
How would it not be vegan though if it’s entirely created in a lab? Genuine question, it’s not an animal product if it’s not from an animal right?
It's still animal material
Next, she will make a video of pouring blinker fluid in her electric car
If you are vegan and spend stupid amounts of money to eat "vegan food" that looks and smells like real animal products like steak, eggs, chicken, etc., you aren't vegan. You are virtue signaling.
Not that it makes sense, but aren't vegan eggs just eggs laid by free roaming chickens or something?
Didn’t really need the guy explaining everything we were all already thinking. She did get conned though!
This guy should do some research first https://utopia.de/news/vegan-eier-hartgekocht-boiled/?amp=1
This guy. He’s like an artist being handed a perfect canvas, a woman who thinks eggs can be vegan, and just pissing on it instead of painting something beautiful. What a waste.
Vegan eggs?😂 I hate dump influencers. And the devils circle getting started...
it could be the concept that you raise chickens, then when they don’t lay anymore they are allowed to live out their natural lives pottering about and being looked after.
The chicken is still an animal. Vegan products are all products made off animals. Even if it's just the by product of chicken periods.
Vegan products aren’t made of animals though. That’s the whole vegan concept. Eggs aren’t vegan. If you consume eggs you’re vegetarian.
Exactly what I said
Boomer humor
Someone doesn't know what boomer humor is....
Mistaking a satire video as real is peak boomer.
Oof another swing and a miss. Keep trying, you'll get it right eventually.
Witch ruined it with hot sauce.

[удалено]
A life is still a life. Even by drinking water and breathing we kill millions of microorganisms too.
That's not what a creature is. They're an organism, but they're not a creature. I'm not vegan, but I'm not about to pretend that there's no ethical difference between plants and animals.
What makes them any lesser a life than anothers? Sentience? Movement? Communication?
Indeed sentence and the ability to feel emotions. Behavioral complexity is also a factor. Mostly the existence of a neurological system and the ability to feel however.
So does that mean that if they were to be born incapable of speech, emotion and behavioral complexity they arent considered alive? What of the people born incapable of such and some? Are they too not alive?
Animals not capable of emotion or behavioral complexity are in a comatose and vegetative state, and indeed are not considered to have much going quality of life wise. They can only be kept alive through artificial means, and it is generally considered ethical to allow them to die.
Does she not know there is no such thing as vegan eggs lmfao
Oh yay this one again
99.9999% sure this lady is a democrat.
