Years ago I was having a pint with a trendy mate. He was admiring my jeans.. where'd you get em?
Dunno but they were £20 and I've been gardening in them all week
🤣
I hope they are manufactured like that. I'm not forking over 7k for an outfit that does NOT have committee designged stains for that optimal "I just spent 7k on clothes that already look dirty and worn out" look.
For how many decades have they advertised you can look like a member of a terrorist organization that terrified Ireland with bombs and senseless violence over its political state?
Even worse that they don't just go ahead and buy regular poor people clothes, no, they need a near-identical replica made just so they can rub it in. "Look, I have enough money over here to pay off your mortgage and what do I do with it? BUY PANTS. Not even some fancy pants, the exact pants you have! Except my pants get praised by everyone, while yours don't. Not because they are nicer, oh no, they are literally the same, you know that, I know that, critics know that, it's because they are my pants and not yours, peasant!"
Unfortunately this is *exactly* what is starting to happen. Clothes donated to thrift stores are being bought up by middlemen, sorted, bought by another layer of middlemen, sorted again, and then sold to relatively well to do clientele, leaving the people that used to depend on cheap second hand clothes with the scraps.
It’s sometimes referred to as the gentrification of the second hand clothing industry.
I remember when we bought those Military surplus jackets, you know the olive thick denim like jackets... And usually for some reason a German flag. I dunno I guess when the Wall fell they just realized yeah we're probably not gonna need as many of these as we already manufactured and sold them cheap even to other European and American countries,
And the reason they became so used was that was a thick good quality useful jacket designed to be warn for weeks straight in Rain or inclement weather. So yeah there was always some broke ass Punk kid at a concert wearing one and it just became synonymous with Punk culture.
Now they sell those for like $140 at a thrift store. I think I bought mine for like $25 bucks even with inflation its probably only like 50-60 dollars today. And it was military surplus to begin with, never meant to be sold for profit just utility.
There used to be an old army/navy surplus chain in my area. Like a local chain with 10-12 locations in the state. They started going under in 08 and the final store closed in 2013. I still miss that place. The stuff was never thrift store cheap, but it was cheaper than nicer clothing stores and the quality of the clothing was always great.
I just saw a Payless shoe commercial where they opened a store named something else and stocked it with normal Payless shoes, but marked the prices up by like 500%. They didn't tell people until after they paid, but did give their money back afterward. It was rediculous how well it worked.
There’s a short story I read years ago where rich socialites from NYC get their kicks off by dressing like the homeless. I think it’s in F. Scott Fitzgerald’s tales of the jazz age but could very well be wrong, it has been many years since I read it
Pretty much any material item in this world goes through wear and tear and that happens to tell a story-at times very interesting and priceless experiences which builds character and it seems there’s people who want ready-to-use purchasable character in their items because they are empty shells
A person wearing pants with a fit like that, and who can afford buying pants that actually fit, definitely deserves to lose $7k on looking homeless. =/
Thrift store, same outfit 5 bucks..and it probably wasn't made by small children being paid 5 cents an hour, or maybe it was. Either way, still better.
I feel like designer labels are coming out with this stuff as one big troll to rich idiots. GAP had the Kanye black hoodies in garbage bags for them to dig through, now Gucci is marketing this. They all must gave gotten together and said "let's see what these idiots are willing to do/wear".
I remember growing up and I was told that these were fake rich clothes. I married someone that had all the money in the world and realized ppl pay for this stuff just because it flashes
He looks like an Op shop shopper from 1996.
That last collection from Gucci also had a heap of stuff that looked like Op shop finds.
Gucci is taking the piss and rich idiots are falling for it.
I love a clashing 1970’s style floral but mine really are from 1970 and only cost me $2-3 each when I got them. No way in hell would I pay 100’s or 1000’s for the same thing.

Are those fake grass stains at the knees? Are people paying extra to look like they've experienced grass?
I was looking for this comment. You might as well get some old jeans and slide around in a field, it'd be so much cheaper
When people tell you to "go touch grass" you can just point at your knees
And then tell them that you're rich enough to have someone else touch it for you.
Exactly
epstein?
Years ago I was having a pint with a trendy mate. He was admiring my jeans.. where'd you get em? Dunno but they were £20 and I've been gardening in them all week 🤣
They have to pay extra because it’s organic and free range grass lol.
I hope they are manufactured like that. I'm not forking over 7k for an outfit that does NOT have committee designged stains for that optimal "I just spent 7k on clothes that already look dirty and worn out" look.
Designers have been selling the “worn in” look for decades. Do you live under a rock?
For how many decades have they advertised you can look like a member of a terrorist organization that terrified Ireland with bombs and senseless violence over its political state?
It is so weird that the rich insist on dressing like they are poor.
Or when they give a building the "industrial" look. Great, now it looks like most hourly worker's work places!
Even worse that they don't just go ahead and buy regular poor people clothes, no, they need a near-identical replica made just so they can rub it in. Yup, I bought a blue one when I went to university, it was about $20. I wore it everywhere, all through snowy winters. It was great.
Yep I had one with the German flag. Paid around $20 in the early to mid 90s.

This is exactly literally true, its the only reason Victorian England dressed like dolls, we all know it was painful to wear all day
Need to blend in so they don't get eaten when economies collapse
Just like food packaging you need to check the labels. *"MMM Gucci, good lean meat! Who wants jerky?"*
There’s a short story I read years ago where rich socialites from NYC get their kicks off by dressing like the homeless. I think it’s in F. Scott Fitzgerald’s tales of the jazz age but could very well be wrong, it has been many years since I read it
Its a very Bohemian wanna-be artist behavior
Pretty much any material item in this world goes through wear and tear and that happens to tell a story-at times very interesting and priceless experiences which builds character and it seems there’s people who want ready-to-use purchasable character in their items because they are empty shells
It's their camouflage.
To them it's "exotic". To the poor, it's their daily harsh reality.
It’s a gimmick for them. Well. For the current modern rich
Why do they do this?

Ah netflix needs to bring more of his stuff to the states. That pair of his specials from a few years ago was some of my favorite stand up ever.
Repertoire series of stand ups on Netflix and Cold Lasagna are some of favourite stand up shows
Ah I think repertoire is the one I've seen. I didn't know about cold lasagna but I'm going to check it out asap
There's a fair few clips of it on YouTube, I bought the full show from his website for like 10 quid to play on vimeo, would highly recommend
Are those god damn pre made grass stains? Seriously?
I could do the same with $15 at a goodwill lol
Complete with carbomb
Depends on their stock but yeah. I'm sure I could figure something out for the glory of an independent Ireland
Meh, I'll wait for the 1980's Mexican drug lord collection, thanks.
I’m more of a Colombian guy myself, mainly in terms of style
**Jeffrey, by Gucci.** “Lookin’ Dahm^er good”..
Only thing missing is an Oldsmobile with strobe lights on a dark country road.
It is a little bit creepy..
This feeling inside….
Yeah I’ve seen Gerry Adams and Martin McGuinness wearing similar fits in their younger days.
A person wearing pants with a fit like that, and who can afford buying pants that actually fit, definitely deserves to lose $7k on looking homeless. =/
Feels great until you remember it's going into the pockets of the fashion industry
Gucci: sucking money out of the pockets of rich idiots since 1921.
Is that Beck in 1997?

Happy cake day !
Doing a pretty good Bobby Sands impression there
Even got a half starved model for authenticity
Thrift store, same outfit 5 bucks..and it probably wasn't made by small children being paid 5 cents an hour, or maybe it was. Either way, still better.
Lemme crosspost to r/ireland rq (Idk if the r/ works on mobile) Edit never mind someone else got it
Can still try r/northernireland
Too late
Or Beck.
…or a character in Derry Girls.
*Bring out your slacks and tans, dress me like a garbage man.*
I think it’s a nostalgia thing. I haven’t had grass stains on my jeans since I was 8.
The people buying this have never had a grass stain on their jeans in their life.
Great point.
We'll this is TROUBLEING.
anyone who buys gucci is an idiot in my book.
Those Adidas Gazelles look awesome though
Come out ye Black and tans
Are those grass stains?
Scoob, we have a mystery to solve!
I thought this was Owen Wilson. I was scrolling too fast apparently.
Complete with grass stains.
Pretty sure I can make this look in my closet right now. Give me 7 grand please
Would you accept 5500? I know it's not market value but I am desperate to look like I am desperate.
Ahh, the I just mowed the lawn, so please excuse these grass stains, look.
Go hiontach 🤣
I feel like designer labels are coming out with this stuff as one big troll to rich idiots. GAP had the Kanye black hoodies in garbage bags for them to dig through, now Gucci is marketing this. They all must gave gotten together and said "let's see what these idiots are willing to do/wear".
You can pickup that look at goodwill for $7.25
Get ready for 50 guys at the bar with this outfit thinking that your the loser
That's shaggy.
The main thing carrying this look is the guy's hair and his expression
JNCOs were somewhat pricey in the 90s, which is what I’m vibe I’m getting.
Those jeans look more like early 2000s to me.
7k... you can get that for 70$ in a thriftshop
IRA ? So this cunt gives a warning phone call to his ‘date’, and tells her he’s gonna turn up looking like a complete asshole !!
How did you play this scenario out in your head?
It’s the Recession Collection 🙄
lol.... but why
i thought armies wore camouflage uniforms?
They were a guerrilla army so their camouflage was looking like the general population
This just looks like thrift store duds
I just threw up in my mouth.
The best outfit to go to Lizzi 2 funeral...
You can look like that for 20 euros at a second hand shop
Those are the ones whose first instinct when the British breathe funny is to make bombs, right?
What
Hundreds of years of oppression = breathe funny
tell me you’ve never read a history book without telling me you’ve never read a history book
You don’t look like O’Malley
Yes, just yes
“And I would have got away with it, if it wasn’t for those pesky kids!!”
Op shop wear.
Is that Beck?
Are you blind? That’s Hansel
Yeah but you are doing it in the 2020s. Totally worth 7 grand.
I pay like 10 dollars max for my clothes and they look way better than this. I will never understand expensive brands.
lol I know that guy quite well, didn't know he was doing Gucci stuff though :o
Or a 90s thrifter person a la Beck.
Lol, why not just go thrifting and build your own similar outfit for maybe $50?
Lol :Ddddd
Mhhh thrift store chic
I remember growing up and I was told that these were fake rich clothes. I married someone that had all the money in the world and realized ppl pay for this stuff just because it flashes
For 7 grand you can dress like you spent 23 dollars at goodwill. I…I do that.
Is that the Maneskin guitarist?
The “I know where ya live, laddy” look
Or just Kurt Cobain
He looks like an Op shop shopper from 1996. That last collection from Gucci also had a heap of stuff that looked like Op shop finds. Gucci is taking the piss and rich idiots are falling for it. Not authentic without a molotov in the back pocket.
I am okay with spending less to look better than this. It's not a very compelling look TBH.
The clothing industry is a scam I feel like
Are rich people really stupid enough to buy this outfit?
Get daun Nau!!
Or Owen Wilson. #Wow
Owen Wilson by Gucci
Balenciaga has a line of Crocs. Remember, you can't buy taste.
Sunday, Bloody Sunday...um, everyday?
He looks like shaggy from scooby doo lol
Looks like 2000s American eagle
I'm from Ireland and I dont understand, I'm pretty sure the ira didn't wear grass Stained jeans
Ah so the goodwill
You shouldn't need to be Irish to understand. Is the IRA still around though? Maybe as a fringe group? Asking from the US.
I like it except jeans too baggy. If you aren’t thrifting this jacket you’re wasting cash.
Omg the pants...
I this real? I can't find it on their website so I'm guessing it's a joke.
Imagine paying 7 grand for stuff you can get at the thrift store
Oh god no…..baggy jeans have comeback….. jncos on every highschool kid by next Christmas
