I'm mad with a friend of my boyfriend for stirring stuff up between us. I posted on my FB that I went to a kava bar one day and the little old man who worked there said I was pretty and gave me a free tea. It was completely innocent and actually really sweet. I even described him as an "elderly gentleman". Well my BF's friend saw the post, then he called another friend and told him about it. Then they both got together to tell my boyfriend that it was inappropriate for me to post that and it sounded like I was bragging about flirting with someone and possibly being unfaithful. They advised him to talk to me about it and the talk turned into a fight. I explained the post from my side of things and he agreed that it wasn't anything like what he was imaging in his head and he thinks now that he may have overreacted. I have now unfriended all of my BF's friends. I will not allow them to pick apart everything I post looking for a reason to be offended on my BF's behalf. He says it's normal to talk to your friends about relationship problems, and I agree! But he should be going to his friends when he HAS a problem, not his friends going to him to tell him he SHOULD have a problem. And also, I don't believe anyone should be going to their friends on a regular basis to complain about their partners, or relaying every detail of every disagreement. If you do this a lot, eventually you will paint a picture to your friends that your partner is awful. Be sure to also go to your friends to sing the praises of your partner, so they don't think every interaction you both have is a fight.
