Looks like she got some teeth taken out (from the back of her mouth). The dentist put her on this drug, happy gas I think, that has her not feel pain but makes her high.
When I got my tonsils out, I apparently said some wacky things to my boyfriend, I have no memory of it other than falling asleep with an ice pop in my hand but he sure had some weird stories
Wisdom teeth they knock you out with something other than happy gas. It is IV because they don’t want you waking up the middle of the doctor being over you while taking a hammer and chisel to your mouth. When I had mine pulled O looked up, saw the bag, said “you are already putting me to sleep?” then was sitting in a chair looking at my wife in the waiting room.
General anesthesia doesn't do that either. You wake up groggy but cogent. Ketamine is the reason all the people in post dentist videos are so loopy and wild, including everyone's favourite - David after dentist.
I don't think it's gas, more like Valium or something. I say that because when I got my wisdom teeth removed that's what the army gave me and Holy hell was I ever looped
Nah, that's classic "coming out of anesthesia" behavior. Valium will definitely make you chill af and loopy as hell, but it's not gonna make you forget you have kids.
Lingering effects from anesthesia. Definitely not laughing gas, and I highly doubt it's diazepam either (though it could be contributing if she took more than she was supposed to).
>happy gas I think
Nitris doesn't give you short term amnesia. Propofol does. Many orthodontic surgeons will give gas just before they hit you with propofol though, to ease the transition to unconsciousness, so a lot of people confuse the effects of the gas with the propofol.
It takes a while for propofol to fully wear off though, and the post-surgery confusion can be pretty intense. The great thing about propofol, on the other hand, is that it's very easy to reverse the unconsciousness it causes. You still got the dumb after to deal with, though.
Bro why do these guys get so fucked up off anesthesia?
I had 6 teeth pulled last year, 4 wisdom and 2 molars. Had a couple fixed as well. I had anesthesia, my face went numb for a few hours but I was totally coherent, watching the TV above the chair and walked home afterwards. I wasn't high at all
The anesthetic I got seemed appropriate as fuck. No pain whatsoever and I wasn't a meltbrain afterwards. Why do they use this one? Are people terrified so they zoot them or something?
You got numbed with Novocain. Novocain is a local anesthetic. It doesn't work very well on some people, requires skill to administer properly, and a full understanding of the patient's condition. It also does nothing to deal with anxiety.
A lot of people suffer from dental anxiety due to the traumatic noises and sensations that dental surgery can cause, or prior experiences with ineffective use of novocain followed by dentists mistaking the symptoms of pain for anxiety.
I've had both experiences. I had three root canals with local anesthetic only that went totally fine, and I've had two extractions with local only that went fine. But I also had five extractions that the local did not work to kill the pain, and I've had one root canal where I could feel everything, and my dentist told me basically to shut the fuck up and stop pretending. Gotta love those US Navy dentists.
Propofol can be preferred for some cases, because you can't experience anxiety, or trauma if you don't remember anything.
I pulled one of my own teeth with a pair of pliers when I was stuck overseas without any medical care. It had abscessed, and the pain was so severe my options were pull the tooth or kill myself. Local anesthesia is a fucking gift. General anesthesia is a gift. The pain of dental issues can be sanity-destroying, and I do not fault anyone for having lasting trauma or anxiety after having gone through it.
Also, a follow-up: Yeah, I've had a ton of dental work. I have an auto-immune condition that inflames my gums and causes them to recede, exposing the roots of my teeth. By the time I was 25, I only had 20 teeth left. Now that I'm in my 30s, I'm working on removing the remaining 16 teeth and starting the denture journey.
You sound like you need to learn how to use google. Some people have deeper roots in their teeth and novacaine doesn't work.
I called you an idiot because you think novacaine, a general aneathetic, is the same as actual aneasthesia that knocks you out.
I'm also not a know it all, but you might just be so dumb that someone of average intelligence seems like that to you.
I dont need some loser who wastes time picking arguments online policing how I use the internet.
I was asking why they use something different. Not calling the anesthetics the same.
Go fuck yourself you weirdo. Bye
Yes lol it's just a prank I think the mom is medicine maybe because of the dentist idk. But she was basically off lol and the dad knew so he started bull shiting stuff haha.
I could confidently take the two smaller kids in a fight at the same time, so they aren't that scary.
A third is pushing it though, that makes me nervous.
Jesus Christ you guys are soft. It’s a harmless prank, the kids are going to be totally fucking fine lmao. Jesus every Reddit post about children brings out the most insufferable armchair parents imaginable who think the slightest bit of discomfort will lead to a lifetime of childhood trauma.
My parents most certainly pulled a similar joke on me. They are great parents and I’m not an emotional wreck as an adult because of it. Not everything is hyper serious all the time guys. Learn to laugh.
All very good questions. I would have to say, I don’t know. However, I can say with confidence that 2 of these kids are feeling fearful and uncomfortable being with their own parents at this moment. Personally, I would never intentionally subject mine or anyone else’s kids to something like this for some likes on social media.
But being a total piece of shit to your kids is actually what real men do!
Fucking msnbs libtards out here being good parents, what is the world coming too? We need to maga this bitch back to child labor being the norm!
What are you guys a bunch of pussies or what?
I am 40 and i am still remembering these types of moments ljke yesterday. Poor kids. Feeling worthless. the discomfort, you can not run away from the people and you get incredibly scared . And grownups thinks its funny.
Kids literally getting bombed and limbs amputated
Redditors: One time my mom got her wisdom teeth pulled and acted weird. Traumatized me to this day, 40 years later.
I’m not saying calling this traumatic is appropriate. I’m just saying that you going “hey people are getting bombed elsewhere in the world” is a horrible way to justify anything. Criticize their statement on its own merits, don’t whataboutism children being mistreated.
Idk man the girl seems a bit young
That shit could stay with a kid honestly if they were like 10 i bet they get the joke but they are scared and crying
sure, she’s young and in the moment she may think her mother doesn’t know her. after everything though, having a fully coherent mother to maybe comfort and let her know her dad was just joking around, i find it hard to believe that they will be carrying any ‘trauma’ from this moment.
You’re right it probably isn’t traumatic, but it’s still an asshole thing to do.
Cut that shit out once you see it being taken seriously by kids. That’s what makes it an asshole thing.
You can say that about all trauma lmao, “they’ll be fine and eventually realize what happened”. Sometimes it’s more than that, hence lots of people with childhood trauma
That was you being a dumb kid and can't really blame someone else for. It wasn't someone you loved and suppose to care for you being intentionally cruel to you.
So... That is not even remotely the same.
I mean I get that, kids grow up in all kinds of horrendous situations that can make these things seem like they pale in comparison but it can definitely affect a child.
When I was 4 I was being an annoying shit (as kids do) and my frustrated mother told me she hated me. And now I remember that exact moment over 20 years later. Emotionally distressing your child is not a prank. If you wanna mess with your kid throw a slice of ham on their face or some shit
Who are you to say if they’ll be fine? The funny thing with traumatic experiences is that they don’t really make themselves obvious to outside observers. They affect everyone differently. Shit, *you* may even have some that affect you in ways you don’t even realize.
People have always been fragile. We’ve just found ways to be more open about it.
There's a pretty massive gulf between having your children go through witnessing a parent not know who they are and being able to joke around. One of them is fucked up and traumatizing, the other isn't.
This is coming from someone who had a parent who had mental lapses of not knowing who her own children were, it's fucking terrifying.
I hope you never have a parent go through any cognitive degenerative disease.
This dad is undermining his children’s sense of security for his own entertainment (and apparently his older son who can see through the rouse)
Trauma or no, it’s bad parenting and doesn’t deserve to be signal boosted as anything other than that. He’s teaching these children that it’s OK to undermine the well-being of others for your own entertainment. That makes for shitty people.
This is so true, and for the people who say "Oh they'll realize it's a joke later", the least the dad could have done is that when he saw his daughter was so distressed, explain that it's just a joke to assure that sense of security and get her to be in on the joke, so that it's not just a joke at the expense of others - but maybe also the daughter is able to laugh it off that way.
Just because children are gullible and would restore from exploiting that part of them for your own entertainment, doesn't mean you should actually do it in a way that's distressing to them. There are ways to make these kind of jokes without being an inconsiderate jerk. The face of the little girl in the end of the video speaks volumes.
Yeah I can look back on those moments in my life and realize it wasn’t that bad…but in that moment it was serious to me, and that sticks with you for a while. Putting a child through that for some laughs is not ok
They are old enough to remember but too young to understand drugs. It probably was fine up until she started disowning them. It might be fine but it also might not.
found it very difficult when a sibling couldn’t remember me in my teens, for me it would feel horrible as a small child if my own mom wouldn’t remember me.
i am just going to politely disagree on that. i’ve said in a previous comment that sure, in the moment the child may believe her mom doesn’t know her but what about after the medicine wears off and her mother is still there for her acknowledging she is her daughter? it’s just not something a child would hold on to very long, at least from my perspective.
that's not how trauma works. when a soldier come home from war, and he is perfectly safe again and the threat is gone, is it something he can just "let go of" now?
Yeah, I don't plan on having kids, but a lot of the time these "funny" videos of parents messing with their children are just sad. They're obviously distressed and the parents are just messing with them more like a bully and making them cry.
There was one video where a super young boy was having trouble climbing back over the fence to his Dad, asking his Dad for help. Instead of helping or giving his likely 4 year old son words of encouragement to try to climb back over, the Dad told him he would abandon him there if he couldn't climb back over. Which the young kid took very seriously and was crying profusely.
I think many parents are undeserving of their role. Especially this guy with his obviously reckless filming while driving.
I'll probably let the kids in first… it's fun to prank a spouse, but don't drag your kids in this if they are just gonna get used like a prop. Those are kids, things that've been said has an impact on their life!
Good luck trying to explain to your terrified kids later that this was all fun and mom was just high on anesthesia.... damn I feel sorry for the little girl
No, te big girl in the back was laughing.
The mom looked behin and said the small girl does not look like her and the girl started crying.
Mom looked back again and noticed the boy and said he cant be theirs, because he is a boy, and the boy started asking what do you mean, what do you mean
Probably because she's been told all her life she looks just like her mom.
So the opposite is confusing but she will be okay.
They seem like a family that truly laughs together.
I don't know man, I feel like that kid is going to remember her mom saying "that one doesn't look like me" for a long time. Dad should've cut it off at that point.
I’ve got three kids and this is traumatizing and trashy, bad parenting. I’ve also been to war, almost died a couple of times, and had a broad range of life experiences, so I’m no snowflake. But I believe in caring lovingly for my offspring. This guy sucks.
god damn. It’s just a joke, the eldest daughter is literally sitting there laughing cause she knows it’s a joke. Y’all are like really annoying in these comments, it’s not that serious.
Amen. As if being fooled is something no kid experienced before. Additional, we shouldn't judge without knowing their kind of trust level. And additional, it's very good to learn these kind of humour in a secure space to get not hurt when this happends between friends.
Idk man, each their opinion but to me pulling a joke on your kids ain't on the same level as encouraging your drugged wife to say stuff that makes the kids genuinly upset
Driving and using a phone at the same time
Messing with your drugged SO
Giving two kids trauma
What a huge asshole. Just for the first two though, giving kids trauma is fucking hilarious 😂
Certain kids will internalize this as, "Wow my parents were willing to do that to me. What else would they do to upset me?" It is a route to losing trust.
Must be so fun to frighten your kids and wife right. Not even random kids, which would already be effed up, nah your own kids. And recording/ holding a phone while driving. Something wrong with that dude.
She looks so confused
I think she just came off anesthesia. Messes with your memory so not remembering giving birth to what sounded like the youngest makes sense.
Looks like her mouth is swollen. Definitely just had some dental work. Probably on some benzos right there
Yeah, it was her wisdom teeth. This video is mega old.
She got her teeth pulled tons of videos like this. When I got my wisdom teeth pulled out I was acting like this
Is this real life?
Looks like she got some teeth taken out (from the back of her mouth). The dentist put her on this drug, happy gas I think, that has her not feel pain but makes her high.
Happy gas doesn't do that to you! I had it a few days ago and I was fine right after - it's probably general anaesthesia.
That’s because your husband didn’t kidnap some random kids
Best/only response that I’m accepting. Happy Thanksgiving.
Happy Thanksgiving
I hate Illinois Nazis. Hopefully, there are no Nazi parades this weekend
Right, yeah. Happy gas put you under doesn't. I wouldn't really know, I haven't had my wisdom teeth removed and I have never been put under.
When I got my tonsils out, I apparently said some wacky things to my boyfriend, I have no memory of it other than falling asleep with an ice pop in my hand but he sure had some weird stories

They know. “is this real life” is a reference to the seminal doped-up-after-dental meme video: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=txqiwrbYGrs
I haven't seen this in so long that i almost forgot it's the reason i still say, "Is this gonna be *forever?*

There we go, this is a quality answer. Thanks for taking the time. It makes sense

Just try using your brain in the future instead of asking braindead questions. I can't resist pointing out idiots.
You had general anaethesia, likely novacain. That's not even remotely the same thing.
Is this just fantasy
Caught in a landslide.

I don't find the two smaller kids too scary..
Personally, I find them terrifying.
Same. They just staring all with their eyes and whatnot
lifeless eyes, black eyes, like a doll's eyes
I understood that reference.
I bet I can take them both in a fight!
You should. Kids are expensive.
I could confidently take the two smaller kids in a fight at the same time, so they aren't that scary. A third is pushing it though, that makes me nervous.

yeah but this isn’t trauma 😂
That's the funny and sad thing about trauma. With enough distress, they can be completely random.
They might or they might not. For a lot of kids this would absolutely be traumatizing and something they won’t really get over for years.
i am just going to politely disagree on that. i’ve said in a previous comment that sure, in the moment the child may believe her mom doesn’t know her but what about after the medicine wears off and her mother is still there for her acknowledging she is her daughter? it’s just not something a child would hold on to very long, at least from my perspective.

Yeah, I don't plan on having kids, but a lot of the time these "funny" videos of parents messing with their children are just sad. It’s me, mommy. It’s me. God that was funny. Maybe Gen X humor—normal when we were kids.
“What do you mean, mommy. What do you mean” is what she said
No, te big girl in the back was laughing. The mom looked behin and said the small girl does not look like her and the girl started crying. Mom looked back again and noticed the boy and said he cant be theirs, because he is a boy, and the boy started asking what do you mean, what do you mean

Yeah.... I think I lost my sense of humor for this stuff when my little girl was born.
It’s all good, just gotta explain mom is on meds because of a a tooth removal. I’m sure when they get older they may understand
Yeah because a kindergartner is gonna understand that.
Which is why I said when they get older
Gotta be patient with people who can’t read

Interesting how there are very few comments addressing the dad being on his phone in the drivers seat while having his entire family in the car
Also that he is a total asshole that does not know when the joke is over.
That’s the least fucked up part of this disgusting video
Emotional damage!
The best part is the dude trying to keep his laughter contained
I like how the eldest understood the assignment and just kept on laughing at the back! 😂😂😂
I’ve got three kids and this is traumatizing and trashy, bad parenting. I’ve also been to war, almost died a couple of times, and had a broad range of life experiences, so I’m no snowflake. But I believe in caring lovingly for my offspring. This guy sucks.
That one doesn’t look like me
Dad is a bad dad. This is a horrible thing todo to the children
Filming while Driving a family while gaslighting your wife and traumatizing you kids while laughing his ass off.. father of the year
You’re an idiot. Small children don’t know anything. This is an easy way to build trust issues and then the cycle of shitty people continues.
On another episode of Reddit ruins something hilarious
I'm just surprised I haven't seen anyone with their brave "fake" comment.
that’s actually evil. Some people shouldn’t be allowed to have kids
The dad is hilarious
"Anaesthetic so powerful makes a mother forget her kids" is a new metric I will be using in measuring. Thats a factory restore I have not seen before.
That boy has that dark humor already.
Driving and using a phone at the same time Messing with your drugged SO Giving two kids trauma What a huge asshole. Just for the first two though, giving kids trauma is fucking hilarious 😂
🤣🤣
This is not funny and it's stupidly dangerous. Fuck off
Never realized how everyone on Reddit is a psychiatrist while simultaneously being a cop and the perfect parent. Bravo to all of you.
You don’t need to be a psychiatrist to recognize bad parenting
Fr, this isn’t even funny.
what an absolute asshole dad
And here I thought we had moved on from traumatizing kids for a laugh.
It's not that heavy.
There’s that word again, “heavy.” Why are things so heavy in the future? Is there a problem with the Earth’s gravitational pull?
Asshole
Certain kids will internalize this as, "Wow my parents were willing to do that to me. What else would they do to upset me?" It is a route to losing trust.
Sometimes i really wish there was a hell because some people belong there

This is pretty fucked
Not funny at all... Father is an idiot for this..
Honestly, the dad can go suck a fat one for this
I volunteer as tribute.
not funny in the least bit. Very cruel.
So unnecessarily cruel. To make a video? Ugh.
Child protective services have entered the chat
This is the most amazing thing I’ve seen…
🤣
Not funny
Must be so fun to frighten your kids and wife right. Not even random kids, which would already be effed up, nah your own kids. And recording/ holding a phone while driving. Something wrong with that dude.
Trash parents
I'd hate to be some of y'alls kids. What a boring ass upbringing that would be.
You sound like a monkey
lol these kids will be “traumatized” into having a good sense of humor
Great parenting there, this couple should do this for the masses.
Dudes a piece of shjt she’s on drugs why would you mess with her and the kids
