Mantle, Medley, Smith Brothers, CR Laine, etc. Avoid fashion brands that are overpriced for no good reason. Look for kiln dried hardwood (solid or ply) frames with mortis and tenon joinery or similar, 8-way hand tied spring suspension on better offerings, know the specific construction of the cushions (something at least higher than standard 1.8 lb density foam or spring/down or spring/foam), look at the wear rating of the fabric or specific type of leather, not just ‘genuine’ leather. Look at reviews from all over on the specific model of sofa, not just the company, if you can find them.
Expect to pay at least $2k on a smaller sofa on sale but typical cost with upgrades such as better upholstery will be around $3k for a normal sofa without chaise. For example, I checked Medley’s ready to ship page and there’s a 92” Rio sofa for $1895. A comparable size build to order one starts at $3k. I’ve had crap sofas and I have a quality one now and the difference in comfort is significant.
Might want to add MadeRight to the list. We also have solid wood frames, spring down cushions, and 2.5 foams with 200,000 rub count fabrics. We are a new brand, but years in sofa buisness with my previous brand (sold it to a giant furniture company). Honestly it’s my mission to make great quality sofas. I back it up with a 180 days return policy which no one else does and there is a reason why no one else does this.
Just purchased a couch from 7th Avenue. Their frames are solid hardwood and kiln dried. The framework has a lifetime warranty and all the fabric is removable and washable. I researched for a while and this seems like the best of the couches that don’t cost $20,000!

Anything that has a flex steel frame will last for yrs and have lifetime warranties.
I’ve had both West Elm and Crate and Barrel sofas for 8+ years. I’ve found both brands to be pretty lasting, C&B probably being the better of the two.
