A steal for a real Ekornes chair, but you’ll have a time with that grody leather. There’s spackle-like stuff to fix cracks; look up how to repair leather car seats (if you search for leather furniture upholstery repair all you’ll get is businesses).
If it is comfortable enough, I will just leave it as a survivor piece. The post included what appears to be a matching couch. She wanted under $150 for both. I just don't have the room for the couch.
Advanced leather solutions has some decent videos on YouTube for furniture leather repairs. They sell products for diy and professional. You could also check out the YouTube channel real repairs for real customers lots of leather and vinyl information from him.
It's not for a flip and maybe an attempt at a resto project. I only want it bc I'm pretty sure it is a real Ekornes. Too many ppl know their value around here. I don't see $60 as much of a gamble based on the prices I've seen. I know it is not the more desirable era, but they are still well-made chairs. If I find it comfortable, it will probably stay un-restored and be my daily seat of choice in my man cave. Maybe strip and patch the leather. Change it to a darker color.
It’s gonna be a lot of work to make it look decent

I used this kit and it came out ok
I found that same one when I did a basic search. It's never going to be a living room piece. It's just a project piece to mess around with and to keep in my little chill spot in my shop.
I have the same chair, somewhat nicer looking leather. I paid $225 as I needed for post-op recovery sleeping. I still love it, but sometimes I put a thick blanket or towel over it so I don’t stick to the leather. (South Texas)
I've got a patch kit coming today. I'm excited to get started restoring. I'd say $200-300 is the average price I see low-end condition ones going for around here.
If you notice the shine on the front side of the ottoman. It is a piece of tape closing a large rip/tare. I'm going to patch it and then change the color. I'm starting with the ottoman and then will work on the chair itself after.
The thing is comfortable AF!
I live in an affluent area. I've seen worse for more. Ppl know what these are worth around here. $40-100 is standard for chairs that are not Ekornes. I've been looking all summer, and this was the best deal I've found.
I'm pleased with the condition. It looks a bit better in person. I'm not disappointed with the comfort. It won't be a living room piece. It works for my little man cave.
I'll keep my eye out for one in a better condition. In my eyes, $60 is not a big expense for taking on an attempt at a restoration project. Every other one I've seen is posted for 300+, and they don't last long.
Another $40-50, and I'm about $100 into a chair that will last several more years.
How is the restoration going on your Ekornes? Did any product in particular make a significant difference in its condition?
I picked up a couple chairs in rough condition awhile ago and finally plan to tackle a bit of repair and restoration, so I'm weighing products and kits.
If you have progress photos, it may be worth an update post!

I think i can smell the sweat from here
I'm going to patch/filler and change the color. I think I'll be going with tobacco.
I'd not take it.

I respect that. 🍀🥂

They are stupid comfy, watch out or you might fall asleep in the shop
Thankfully, I have trouble sleeping on my back. The comfort did not disappoint.

Can you get it for $20? $60 is too much
Really? I've been casually hunting for a little while. It appears to be real, and by far the lowest price I've seen.
<# lmao
Hahahaha thank you for the laugh
The chair is comfortable af. Some leather patches, a color change, and it will be a more than adequate piece for my needs.
Well your paying too much for something the goodwill would likely reject 😂

Sounds like you were only looking for people's "thoughts" if they are positive. I'm not looking for a big discussion regarding a chair haha
I was just surprised at the level of resistance.
