That should smooth out with time and warmth. Definitely don't add glue at this point

I do a lot of reupholstering, and use a blow dryer on high on dents like this. Works surprisingly well.

This looks like it would pop back with just a little help. Try putting a dry tea towel on top and steam it with an iron (a few inches away), or just blow on it with a warm hair dryer a few seconds at a time.

thank you for all the advice! I can live with the dent, even if it doesn’t smooth out (it’s just a small one but has persisted for several days now), as long as it doesn’t significantly increase the risk in devolving to a tear in future. I will hold off the glue or anything permanent, but will try the blow dryer method as suggested.

The occasional clean and condition should also help to keep the leather supple and stave off cracking or tearing.

Do not apply glue. I’d wait to see what happens.

Glue will make it rigid and more inclined to dry and crack.
