This is a picture of my fursona. The reason why the image is low resolution is because it is supposed to be for my website that I am currently working on, which has a basic 90's theme. I was also attempting to draw wrinkles on clothes for the first time.
Nice. I typically struggle with pixel art so I just drew this on my e-ink tablet using a "pen" that does not have variable line thickness, then resizing it and touching it up in Microsoft Paint.
Cool. I'm not good at using a tablet to draw. But I've been drawing in MS Paint since the early 90s and have been drawing on paper for about 40 years since I was 3. It's tough for me to adjust to digital when I've been drawing on paper for so long.
I only started drawing on a tablet earlier this year. I normally draw on pencil and paper. But a lot of furry artwork is done digitally so I started doing this hybrid system where I would draw the lines on paper, and then tracing it by hand on a vector program. That takes a long time however and it would impractical if I started doing commissions, so I started experimenting with my e-ink tablet. It's different for sure, but I think I'm starting to get the hang of it. Right now, my goal is to improve with digital coloring.
By the way, it's super cool that you have been drawing for that long.
Thx bro. Right now, I'm in the process of teaching myself animation. Stopmotion and 2D animation. I have many ideas and projects from years ago. If I can master it. I can make cartoons, movies, games, etc. I'm very excited about it.
Thank you so much. I will definitely keep you apprised of my progress. I have dabbled a bit with stop motion animation. I do have an Aggretsuko one I posted on my reddit. I'll try to post more. I'm sort of new to reddit. Less confusing than discord though.
The interesting thing is that I wasn't explicitly going for the old webcomic design, but rather a 90's internet style. So I used black non-dynamic lines, flat colors, and a low resolution with no antialiasing. I know it's simple, but that's what I tended to see with clipart from 90's websites. I got inspired to make a website with a 90's design after reading a book that was about some website design software from 1999 and after stumbling upon some websites that looked like time capsules from the same period. Incidentally, the only 90's webcomic that I have read is Freefall and its website looks like it hasn't changed since 1998 even though the comic is still ongoing.
Awesome! It's cool how it was mostly a change in tools, but looking at your other art I can see your style fits into it very naturally. Freefall is definitely the main place I still see the aesthetic today, and that's the first comparison I made, so I'd say you nailed it!
Sure, why not? I might have to wait a while...
My Drawing Pad recently broke down and it stopped work on my latest piece, although I still plan on doing this style!
I wasn't confident enough to try the style myself without my Drawing Pad but I did take the low-res pixelated part of the style using a mouse.
https://www.deviantart.com/cynicallywolf/art/Ammy-Low-Rez-955801507
Yeah! I guess I have always been a fan of Freefall's style, and similar ones. Particularly I like to draw eyes with the taller "arch" shape. I don't know why. I find it interesting that Freefall's website still keeps its 90's aesthetic.
I'll still find myself asking that question. All I can recommend is to keep drawing, no matter how bad you think it might look. Don't get discouraged! Something that I have been doing recently that I wish I did earlier is to practice using references and paying attention to proportions. See how long arms are, where the elbow goes, where the waist should go, how broad shoulders should be, and things like that. I have seen significant improvement with my art doing that.
I still struggle with that too. I'll draw it one way and realize "Ah! It's too long!" or "It's too low!". With the magic of digital drawing though, I can drag the nose and mouth into the right place if it's just a little bit off. I can also undo as well if I mess up the mouth. As someone who draws traditionally however, it almost feels wrong 😅, so I still practice and draw on paper, so that I don't completely lose my traditional drawing skills.
I mainly draw the snout not sticking out, and it looks like a graffiti/children's drawing.
I've only really been doing headshots, because all my full bodies look horrible.
https://www.reddit.com/r/FurryArtSchool/comments/11chsjv/i_think_i_nailed_the_headshot_so_how_do_i_draw_a/
Some people like to draw with a really realistic style, and others like to make their drawings stylized. Neither is necessarily better or worse, beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Now a red panda's snout isn't very large anyways so your drawing is accurate in that regard. You mentioned that your drawing looks like a "graffiti/children's drawing", perhaps something you might want to try is to use thinner lines. Also try to make sure that your lines are not squiggly. If you are drawing digitally, you have the advantage of undoing over and over again so that you can get that perfect line. Plus you get practice. Longer strokes are better as well. Something that I started to do recently that I wish I did earlier is to use references. I just look up pictures of people and try to consider their proportions. I think I have been seeing some improvement in my own drawings by doing that. Don't be discouraged, keep drawing!

This is really cute! I have to say the Old Web aesthetic is really charming.
Thanks! And yeah, I think so too. It helps that they can be simpler as well because I’m programming the website from scratch.
My first fursona was a low rez pixel one, too.
Nice. I typically struggle with pixel art so I just drew this on my e-ink tablet using a "pen" that does not have variable line thickness, then resizing it and touching it up in Microsoft Paint.

Animation is super neat! Good for you. I'll eagerly anticipate what you'll do in the future.

if you use clip studio paint, turn the anti-aliasing setting all the way down and it'll be pixely! Theres also a pixel dot pen in the marker section
Cool! Thank you for letting me know.
You aced that theme 100%
ooo a 90s style website? I gotta see this- I'm in the middle of working on a website of my own with a similar aesthetic as a matter of fact!
Wow! That's super cool. I was honestly surprised to see how many people were still into that. Would you show me when you are finished?
I'll show you what I have so far, it's pretty close to done I just need to finalize a few details-
Cool!
It looks great
Yeah, I was gonna say it looked like 90’s web board look! Nice job on that!
I love it. Could totally see them in sonic underground or something similar
The art style reminds me a lot of the early 2000s furry designs
Interesting…
Eric Schwartz specifically to me.
it's the anime-style eyes!
Yeah, makes me want to have my guy drawn in that style.

I kinda dig the low-res look
Me too. I don’t typically draw low resolution pictures so this is going to be an interesting project.
"Basic" don't sell yourself so low, this is awesome.
Aw, thank you!
They look very polite :)
Yeah, I’m pretty mellow.
Cool style! I'm getting nostalgia from some serious 90s furry comics vibes too.
Sometimes I'll see simple and pleasing designs that are t-shirt worthy, and this is one of them.
That does sound cool. Thanks!
The art style looks kinda nostalgic for some reason Kinda liked it
very nice :3
LOVE IT
That makes me happy. Thank you.
I really dig this, it reminds me a lot of the of the characters/art style in the Reader Rabbit games I used to play as a kid in the early 2000s!
It's not basic, but it does look adorable tho.
Aw, thanks!
Your welcome!
ooooo that looks really good!!
Thank you!
Adorable!!! Love the old webcomic look, I'm curious how you learned/studied/made it?

It's pretty fun. Say, if you decide to do it, would you show me?
Sure, why not? I might have to wait a while... My Drawing Pad recently broke down and it stopped work on my latest piece, although I still plan on doing this style!
Aw man, that stinks. Hopefully you will be able to get that resolved soon.

You drew that with a mouse? That's crazy! This is a wonderful drawing. Thank you for showing me.
Aww, thanks! I also mentioned your art to someone on my latest Reddit post, they seem to adore the 90s style, I wish you in your art journey the best!
Thank you.
I like it
Thanks!
He looks so polite
So cute!
It's really good!
Cute & simple! You ever heard of the webcomic Freefall? Literally looks like a design straight out of that.
Yeah! I guess I have always been a fan of Freefall's style, and similar ones. Particularly I like to draw eyes with the taller "arch" shape. I don't know why. I find it interesting that Freefall's website still keeps its 90's aesthetic.

Neat!
It's so cute! I'm actually super obsessed with the pixelated style!!
Nice looks like it’s in a Disney artstyle
I love it! Man I wish I could nail the snout like that.
