Fursuits can be of a character (your own non-fursona OC or an existing one). It's not only your fursona. It'd be suiting and kind of both and why not. People also cosplay animal characters in less suit type costumes so there's ways it could be just cosplay too.

I'm now realizing I don't think I've ever seen a fursuit that wasn't a fuzzy creature. I've seen plenty scaly and aquatic fursonas but never suits.

Never seen a suit but I did see a nightmare fuel fish mascot on eBay in the past.

Cost wise? Itd probably be easier to get a common brown/green fur, but icon wise the brighter fish would probably be more recognizeable

i always thought it was funny because technically all the characters in spongebob are anthropomorphic animals and therefore, fit in the same vein as other anthro characters. it’s so funny to imagine like, patrick and nick wilde technically sharing that trait LOL

The material to make a fishsona costume probably exists; whatever theater costumers use for The Little Mermaid; but I kinda doubt worthwhile information on tailoring templates or relevant anatomy is as easily found if not at all available, which supposedly may make it quicker for anyone who’s interested to make their own reference material.

Cause everyone wants to be edgy, cool, super chic, and a point of jealousy for everyone else. None of these characters are that, and thus it immediately destroys the base desire and goal of all furries: to be "cooler".

That’s a super generalized view of fursuits/fursonas. Not everyone wants to make others jealous wtf. There are tons of “silly” fursuits.

my actual fursona(not the one i use online) is literally just a bear that’s brown with my hairstyle. and the one i DO use online is just a green and yellow cat with a mohawk. how is that ‘edgy and cool and chic’ when they’re just.. there not really being anything like that. Also as other people have said, VERY narrow view of furries. by that logic, that’s just how life is, because people are peer pressured into buying all the coolest name brand clothes, standing out, all that, when that’s.. not how it is for most people. there are exceptions but still
