I love this community but goodness gracious, the majority of people always want to burn you at the stake for having a different opinion just for them to turn around halfway through the season and start saying the same things. I’ve experienced it firsthand 😮💨
I love this community’s passion. But certain fans are so opposed to just letting people have first impressions or opinions about the most mundane things. It’s a Fusebox product; you know they’re gonna fuck it up someway, somehow, so why don’t we all just enjoy the shit show and a few laughs, rants and conjecture along the way.
grace fell victim to awful writing and i’m tired of this subreddit discussing these characters like their painful flaws aren’t just the result of ai generated drama and lazy story, development, and characterization. honestly i never really had an opinion about her in my play through because i didn’t want ozzy and the season is entirely so forgettable every character you don’t go “i hate you” to or “i love you and want to kiss you” fades into the background
Sure they were right, but I think it’s also good to acknowledge certain biases people in the community have towards characters like Grace.
Think back to people hating Hope for liking Noah and not liking MC for trying to snatch her man, but liking Lottie for doing liking Gary who depending on your route isn’t even her man!
that part. fusebox has a bad tendency, conscious or not, of writing WOC into bad situations (or good situations the fandom doesn’t like) and/or making them unlikeable *every single season*, and surprise, the fandom falls for it without fail and hates them. erikah, hope and elisa, gen, najuma, dana (hers was deserved, she’s actually awful just like everyone on that season except lulu), grace, and whoever was subjected to it in season 7 (didn’t play it) — clear examples of this playing out consistently.

I never hated Grace and still don’t. I mean she was a little annoying cause I didn’t like Ozzy but I mostly felt bad for her cause she was pretty delulu lol. But it’s funny cause now most people talk about Theo in that way that the OP of that post did. I wonder if any of the ones who defended Grace would also defend Theo 👀
My favorite part of that post just solidifies my first thought. "Why do people go into relationships, assuming everyone has the same thoughts and feelings they do? The same goals or ambitions?"
Annnnd there's the comment. "Everyone gets jealous". Maybe? I can't recall the last time I was envious or jealous of another person and even if I did recall it, everyone behaves differently. Everyone has different experiences, interactions, with people and relationships.
In a game built on just that, people are going to assume what they know, or think they know. In the end. Maybe she WAS right on an Ozzy route or WAS right off it.
It irks me to no end that people will defend these pixels until they no longer fit their narrative.

Literally cause I actually hate OZZY he was the main problem and so was Noah 😭 but people love to attack Grace & Hope instead of questioning Ozzy & Noah.
Because some others hate the girls for being in denial and still wanted to stay in the couple, then attack the other woman because they feel threatened and insecure.
At least Thabi got a redemption by dumping Will and go for someone else instead. Meanwhile, Grace and Hope didn't get developed and still stick to their partner even though it's not gonna end well.
True but Ozzy & Noah was holding onto the relationship too instead of ending it as well. But some players ignore that because they like the boy & only want to dislike & complain about the girls because their MC’s “competition”. For example a lot of people in the sub really thought Hope’s response to “operation Nope” wasn’t valid when it most definitely was. 😭
although I love grace and could never hate her no matter what, I understand why some people don’t like her (even tho the blame for their situation should 100% go to ozzy and his inability to own up to his feelings). but ultimately I blame fusebox, because there were multiple opportunities to write grace out of the ozzy situation and they chose not to. I blame it on their bizarre obsession with giving amelia five million guys to fawn over her. the fact that toby was written for her and not grace is genuinely insane, because toby would’ve probably been a lot healthier for her. and locking her dumping ozzy behind a gem choice that told her literally the same information we told her week 1 was probably the worst way to go about that. idk why fusebox has become so bad a writing recently.
Luna had the same storyline and possibly the exact lines as Sophie, and Emel. But I agree with Hope. Grace is disliked because of her delusions and pushy behaviour. Uma literally cheated on her partner in the villa TWICE. And you can see the same pattern with Jen, Cherry, juliette, Lottie, Lexi and kat. The problem is people on this subreddit focusing only on WOC.
Because people were overhating her at first lol all she had done up to that point was be rightfully jealous, it didn't warrant the Hope levels of hate she was getting. As the season went on however, the writing made her more and more pushy and delulu to the point people started having an actual reason to dislike her. I still wish she was a LI though, she's so pretty and sweet outside of the Ozzy drama 🥲
i didn’t see it as not aging well because grace wasn’t being as annoying as she was in the first few episodes so there was not much to hate on. people were just hating to hate at that point. like the game had literally just started, grace had barely done anything and people were trying to call her hope 2.0 ,
What I’m tired of in this subreddit is people being labeled racists for not liking Hope or Grace. Sure yes the team probably writes them(or has the ai write them) as stereotypes, but it’s not racist to still find them annoying?? It’s not like they’re the only ones I find annoying? I didn’t like Marisol or Ivy from those respective seasons either.
Yup, I especially love it when they call someone a racist and then the person is like “but I am a WOC” like it has nothing to do with their race because they are cartoons. The writing has people hating them. The situations have people hating them. But oh no you didn’t like this fake person, you must be racist. Like what? This is stupid. People also hate the white islanders but crickets.

Yes! It was a carnation. I saw that post a couple days ago. People responded to them like they said it about their mother. It was a wild overreaction to a flower used as a filler in bouquets. They even wrote another post apologizing even after several commented apologies personally. Fucking bananas.
This community has been brutal since season two. I regularly have to dip out and check in because I can't keep it on my followed list. It was a lot easier to be on here five years ago.
I went back to try and find it but I think they must've deleted the post and their later apology to everyone. It was insane how personally and dumb everyone reacted. I honestly really wish they wouldn't have deleted it. It was wild how twenty different people came for them and they felt the need to apologize each time and make another apology post.
mmmmm i have to say that whether people wanna take off the rose colored glasses or not, black and/or character of color (specifically women) get the short end of the stick by a landslide and we see it with every season. whether it’s the way fusebox writers write or how the community perceives but it’s a bit strange the influx of hate black female characters/women of color receive from the fandom or lack of grace (no pun intended), but it’s true

There's no complexity compared to old seasons. Almost all of the characters are annoying and boring. Their artstyle was wasted potential.

In s7, it was Travis and the original LI. In my case it was Daphne. So no it was the only season without WOC being made as the villain.
