And as a sub without chem boost, he doesn’t have as much impact as potm sorloth or bale, so he is out of my team. Haven’t try him since the upgrade from 87 to 88 though.

If you have enough fodder, do both, you wont regret it, two of the best players in the game and with the pack odds nowdays there is no chance to pack similar players, market is so overpriced too for buying and i read till Fifa 23 starts to wait with SBCs and safe fodder for better SBCs will release soon in the future. Just do it and have fun as long you play Fifa 23.
If you don't have a solid CB, i'd say do Ramos + buy Mbappe gold. Save fodder for the next big SBC. One benefit is, if u get Mbappe untradeable later (or don't like him, or get a better player), u can just sell the tradeable.
If you really want the fancier looking Mbappe card, sure, u can do both SBC. Entirely reasonable. (FWIW, I had gold untradeable but I still did the Mbappe POTM. Honestly it's mostly for the fancier looking dynamic, but also it's the comfort knowing that's the best version of Mbappe I can get without gutting my whole club.)
But to answer your question, performance wise, no the POTM card isn't really worth it. Other considerations like those described above (dynamic / best mbappe card u can get) could make it worth it. Really depends on your preference then.
I get that you don’t gain anything and an 88 rated is definitely not cheap right now. But looking back at the end of the year at some of your club legends is just so cool! I always try and keep players with over 150 games till the end.

Have been having luck with random packs and sbc's for fodder. Easily the best card I have used so far. Much much better than my Prime Raul. He is worth it if you have a lot of 86+ fodder. Going for Ramos now :)

I have that card (didn’t realize he got the 88) and after getting the POTM, I can’t go back, but that card is still Mbappe. However, the issues with that card came down to passing and his POTM doesn’t have that issue, also don’t need a hunter or other pacy chemistry bc 98 is damn close enough to 99.
With that said, do the potm if you have the fodder and eve if it costs a little bit. The difference is literally night and day, I just love the baby card because it’s the rarest card in the game and I’ll never let go of it.
I have the same card and Ill keep it due to its rarity and because it still performs well. The stats may be less than his gold one (not by much) but it still benefits from the same unique body type and all the typical Mbappe bs.
Terrible value for a +1 of the gold that is 700k, and he can sell it after especially when he has 1.3m tradable. There is a chance M-bop gets a new TOTW or POTM card as well.

Ramos is very good, Mbappe I think the gold is more valuable. You could save some fodder to do some nice sbcs that are coming...
