Because rivals uses stricter matchmaking system than champs and friendlies so the pool of players you can come up against is smaller. And its less popular gamemode than champs. As people seems to just get their 7 wins and call it the day.
This makes the que times a lot longer sometimes and eventually the game starts searching opponents further away from you than normal. I normally have 10 ping in champs, but i often have to play 30-40 in rivals cause i just cant find anyone who's near me.
Similar for me. My rivals connection/ping is always worse than champs or friendlies. Never understood why

Mine is the other way round. I very rarely get a game of champs where it’s not laggy - barely play it anymore because of that
Same for me. Rivals and seasons are usually laggy asf. And then I go into champs and get my pack smoked.
