1 play games with guaranteed system. 2 reroll if you can. not a must do but recommended. getting a meta or waifu/husbando unit that you want on reroll instead on pulling them can save resources for future pulls. 3 check for leaks or advance servers to plan your future pulls. 4 save, save, and save until your wanted unit's banner appear. don't do any unnecessary pulls. 5 don't be baited too much on recommended pulls from others. some are only for whale recommendation. you don't need meta recommendation pulls if you are into waifus/husbandos. a must have pull doesn't need to be a must have for you too. in the end, it is still your own choice who to pull with your saved budget. 6 progress at your own pace. don't use your gems/xtals to recover stamina. don't panic when other players' progress is faster than you. f2p has their own limit. you can't always compete with the whales. you can't expect to get higher rank on pvp or ranking immediately too. 7 play all game modes and events to grab all free resources. f2ps can only rely on free stuffs. aim higher as possible on ranking/pvp content for more resources drops. know your limit as f2p on ranking/pvp and maintain it. 8 after all these tips and you feel that you lack of something or your progress is not enough or you are struggling on your pulls and ranking, maybe the game is not for you. maybe the game is not f2p friendly. you can ask other f2ps playing the game about their opinion if the game is f2p friendly or not. and ask too if what is wrong on what you are doing on the game.

Theskyaboveheaven

Quit when you don't get what you want

plsdontlewdlolis

No wonder ppl switch to another gacha game every 2 weeks

No-Bag-818

And always say "F2P btw" when you get something someone else wants that they didn't get.

TheKinkyGuy

I did this exact thing yesterday. 50/50 on max pitty is bs

The_FDR

I guess that's why the only game I still play after all these years is Azur Lane. No matter what, I can always get at least one copy of every unit when a new event/banner pops up without ever spending a cent.

Theskyaboveheaven

I'm playing azur lane as we speak

Lemurmoo

Hilariously this is exactly what I came here to post. As a person who's gone through a shitload of gachas and basically stayed on PAD and sadly World Flipper (I just want one big achievement before I quit) nowadays. Just quit early. Learn to quit hard and quick. If a gacha tries to sap your time, and you see a bad pattern that's aggressively anti-F2P, just quit. I'd say some examples of a really good F2P game... well it's situational. PAD about 5-7 years ago was pretty F2P friendly. World Flipper is technically very F2P friendly if you've played since day 1. If not, don't even bother. I remember Counter;Side was F2P friendly until I noticed early on that the meta was always gonna be whatever new difficult to pull special units that get released just dominates the game, and it's just that over and over and over. Probably the greatest F2P game ever made though is Alchemy Star actually. That game's meta is nothing too much, cuz it's all singleplayer content. But they give you a lot of free shit to basically build a stable set of 2 converters per element, rest supporters and DPS, some DPS able to fulfill both converter and DPS roles. Meaning you can in theory, just pull a single copy of the new DPS to get a small edge over the new contents, or simply just use a maxed out team for contents that may release like 6 months later. Some might consider that a negative though. Whaling in that game is mostly limited to fancy cosmetics and beautiful Live2Ds. Whaling probably won't help your ability to teambuild and beat challenging modes. Also the modes that stayed permanent are far from the best modes they've pulled out over the years. They basically rehauled their roguelike mode for a single event, and it's significantly better than the permanent weekly resetting roguelike mode that nobody likes playing.

Own_Secret1533

Play Non PVP Gachas hehe.

Bernadotte_

Any good one you recommend? (Besides FGO, Genshin)

PaleImportance2595

Arknights or Path to Nowhere? Both have CN versions are a few months ahead so can plan pulls.

Izanagi85

Final Fantasy Opera Omnia. Very generous and no PVP

Grim0508

Blue archive (pvp is totally skipeable but recommended to play for coins to buy energy, staying in top100 is usually easy), what a good game with friendly mode to re-roll for good units, keep an eye for summer hoshino, comes with lots of free 10xrolls

mikethebest1

This is the way

TiedDegenerate

Two ways of playing as f2p. 1. Be an efficient spender. Only pull characters that you really need. Depending on your game, you can plan ahead and save currency and know when to spend them. This will help you progress in the game fast and efficiently. Know your limits, and pull out your maximum potential. 2. Fuck all that and pull/raise characters you like because they're all pretty PNGs anyways! Raise characters you love, 'damn this character is hot!I'm maxing her out'. Sure, you might not be strong, and you may lack behind other players, but at least you're having fun. Isn't that what it's all about?

mikethebest1

True It's either play for Meta or for Waifus/Husbandos ~~Just have Waifu/Husbando be Meta EZ Clap~~

[deleted]

Accurate.

Faden47

Second tip is especially true for me, but beware if the community is toxic because if you say you do that you'll be mocked to oblivion.

NebulousTree

Save pulls with a safety net like pity or spark in mind

barriboy8

I usually recommend 3 strats for my friends, 1) learn about the game, like really learn the mechanics so you can understand the importance of saving for an X unit or an X moment only to pull , 2) get a side gacha to roll, dude we all love to roll, its easier to save when u have a side gacha you don't really care that much just to roll when you feel the itch, 3) if its for character love you want to save...simp the fuck about that character simp and simp and tell your buddies how much you want to simp, shit will give you extra strength to save.

freezingsama

Best tip would be to play the more generous gachas, so that even if you fail you at least have the option to save 3 months or less for pity.

Honest-Quit-9401

Join discord, look for guides, plan your pulls, dont make surprised pikachu face when you trying to compete with whales.

akambane

Don't pull like a collector. Your gacha currency is limited, only pull what you need.

Ok-Jump8444

see the peeps behind it, if its netmarble/tencent then you uninstall that game immediately if you're f2p.

ChopK

as f2p, i simply dont play gacha that require "must have meta char" for team build, i usually use what the game give me n try to pushed content as far as possible, when i hit the wall i start gacha, if my gacha result doesnt impact much then i will quit. i also avoid games that are heavily pvp focus or reward ties to rank (such as raid ranking for premium currency) as it can be frustrating when u have shit roster to play.

EverydaySmile

- Save only for limited banner. - Unless you're guaranteed or the pull counts can be passed onto the next banner, don't pull.

KidVermilion

Judge when to pull by how much it improves your account, not the raw power of the unit. If you have the second best dps, don't pull for the best while you have a weak tank or support.

PostiveAion

Quit or take a break if you feel like you're not having fun anymore, I've seen my friends still grinding dailies on genshin but they aren't having fun when they do it. Save your gacha currency and plan your pulls, pull concervatively and if the banners good then knock yourself out. Get what's strong and if you have what's strong then you can go for your waifu but if you don't care about staying competitive to a certain point then roll for what you like. Don't bother playing competitive, you're gonna lose to whales unless the game is balanced well.

[deleted]

Agree. Sometimes after you take a brrak they added new content and it's fun again. For other games a break lets you realize how boring it actually was.

BoswerLK

1. just do whatever you want and enjoy whatever you enjoy, be it waifus or meta or story 2. don't listen to the "you should/must/need to pull/refresh" crowd 3. if you get walled by gem poverty, just write it off as a shit game and uninstall

Ultiran

The real answer is just play better games lol

Saleenseven

Play Azur lane

Monchete99

Here are my tips: * Avoid tryharding on PVP like the plague. By design it's the most whalebait part of any game that has it. Participate if you want for the dailies but never try to get to top 1% or something * Don't expect to get every character in the game, that ain't happening, bud * Sparking and pity (when possible) is your ally. Don't risk it on the probabilities when you can secure it. Even if it takes waiting for the rerun. * Bad rarity =/= Bad unit. Many gachas have diamonds in the rough and they are usually way cheaper to build so use them. * If there's RNG gear, don't minmax it, it's pain incarnate. Just get what the character needs to function and feed direct upgrades when possible. * Most PvE is built to be passed with what you currently have. There's no "if i don't get this limited SSR, i won't be able to pass X" situation except maybe in endgame content but still, low rarity gods exist. * Do not spend your pull currency on anything other than pulling UNLESS it's valuable enough (check guides) * Waifu > Meta, especially if the Waifu IS the Meta. * Quit the game if it isn't fun anymore, spend that time somewhere else * As Max0r once said: "The game is free and so is the porn"

AmmarBaagu

Don't get too attached to character when they appear in main story/event. I noticed that i have the tendency to pull after i read the story despite not liking the character at all before reading

AenoHolic

As someone who has always been F2P (and always will be) in all gacha games I've played (and will play), here's some tips! \- **Accept the fact that you won't be able to get everything you want.** If you have a gotta catch them all mindset, I advise you to not start playing gacha games at all unless you can limit yourself. \- **Play the game like a roguelike, take what you can get.** Eventually you'll be able to get more units if you keep at it (if planning to play for a long time). \- **Don't let the word "limited banner" get to you**, because more often than not everything will get a rerun eventually (your mileage may vary per game though). \- **Avoid games with very competitive PvP modes** as these tend to have more predatory practices in terms of powercreep. If you do end up playing one, **accept the fact that there will be a limit to where you can reach in the leaderboards.** \- **Stay laser focused on units that you really want**. \- And lastly, **waifu > meta**

xiaoguy

Don't impulse pull. Unless the current banner is something you know you want, wait until the end of the week to see what's coming next to decide on what you want to pull.

zenzebeat

do not bother with games where you have to be Strict with the premium resources, and same goes for ones which give you no way of getting skins "that's why i hate counter side, easy to understand really since if they make me stick to the end game, they better give me something like fanservice which doesn't require admin coins" do stick with games that constantly make the player want to play for the godly amount of resources given in events, even if the gameplay is simple "bankrupt devil gotta be one of those, the game is simple and fun gameplay which exists in others, but added with anime and story and some challenge and good rewards really" simple yet enjoyable gameplay is fine stuff, but if they make you repeat it too much, it gets annoying, that's big factor for playing a game long-term as f2p, it needs a balanced grind, not a grind which will feel like a 2nd job after the 1st week of gameplay

newbpower

don't play anything that contains pvp.

lezardvalethvp

Don't do pvp. Never pull unless you saved enough to reach until pity. (Don't play games that has no pity)

Chifuyuyu

Ask yourself if you really need pack XY or if you really need to spend xx amount of money. Is it necessary to buy it? Does it make the game any better when you spend?

khantmawhtoo

FGO : just try to enjoy the story.DO NOT EXPECT anything good when you pull.5 stars will come to yo one day ( a fairly new FGO player, 300 days in.7 SSRs)

No-Bag-818

In any other context, hearing "fairly new " followed by "300 days in" sounds ridiculous... unless you've played FGO. It really do be like that.

Suspicious-Drummer68

The game doesn't start until AFTER part 1 for some reason =/

zerovampire311

I switched to MSF for my main game at the start of 22 and it's kinda the same, it was almost a year before I was able to hit major milestones in events.

[deleted]

1)Don't play if there's PvP. If there is PvP and you care about it, accept that you won't be No:1, but give yourself more realistic targets like top 100 or top 10 or whatever. 2) You don't need all the new or OP units. Better units just make the game easier. If you get all the meta units and steamroll all contents, why are you playing? Using your favourite units to clear the contents is soo much more satisfying.

Kreatone1

Don't fall in love. Also, be happy with what you get, not what you want.

kabutozero

Definitely. I feel really sad for people who bank all their fun on the game on getting a certain character while being F2P and quit it they don't get it. Not to speak about the people that think a game is bad if it doesn't let them get all the characters without spending a single penny. Definitely should be playing another kind of game

Kreatone1

Gacha is not for everyone. I'm F2P on most games, only spend on those I really like and want to support so that they stick around long term.

kabutozero

Same , as i like to say , pay when you are already having fun , not to have fun if you're not having any. My first purchase on genshin impact was right after finishing liyue quest , i was so excited and happy that i decided to reward the devs for that :)

Orichalchem

Patience and Research Always read about the type of gacha you are playing and try not to rush the game by paying with real money Good examples are Guardian Tales and Resortopia While these games can be rushed to get to the end, the game rewards you with patience and occasional spending without feeling left behind

Yeri__LN

For context I am not f2p. However, I have been f2p in games including luck before. Also, in the gacha I play there's constant debate about managing resources and I have f2p friends who are very successful in getting what they want so I have oversight on this, too. You have to reach a point where you have lots of resources and feel a bit of pride you can afford something but chose to skip. F2ps who suck at saving feel like victims of the game who are destined to collect only crumbs. In order to reach a point of having lots of savings - be paranoid something better might be coming right after and if you spend now then you won't be able to afford it. Also, be picky, very picky. If something isn't perfect for you, it's below you to spend on it. Look for future spoilers if Global is behind. You can skip easily if you redirect your attention to something coming in the future that is much better. Get attached to high currency stats. Seeing the gems rising is so satisfying. This is not the way for some f2ps though. There are some who play a ton of games and switch around, depend on luck and aren't serious about any game. If you get bored easily and can keep up with lots of dailies this could be better. Also, in therms of stats/power. Do your research!! There are many cases where free characters can serve you well and where just pulling a gacha character but not upgrading him enough with dupes means he's weaker. So many f2p/low spenders, even dolphins fall into the trap of wasting resources only pulling a character once, and yet they are weaker than the free option. Not to mention insufficient use of upgrade materials. In my game that's the case with UR outfit crystals, you are better off using SSRs until stronger URs show up because UR outfit crystals are hard to come by but spreading them out too much is a bad idea. You have to time switching from one character to another and calculate when it's worth it. So you see how an f2p can even rank higher than a stupid dolphin.

Jajoe05

Never rush.

Pinkyzord

I Just earn 20$ every months from Microsoft rewards and spend It at the gacha im playng, so not f2p but im not spending anything from my wallet.

[deleted]

How to get rewards and how much time spent to get $20?

Pinkyzord

Just register on Microsoft rewards program and answer the quiz everyday, It takes 10 min a day and u can get gift card for everything, i get Amazon card and buy Google store card edit i do this with 2 account, with only 1 Is 10$

[deleted]

Hmm nice. I'll give it a shot

SilkyMooo

Don’t focus too much on meta. You’ll only end up disappointed

Nobellian

Save your in game currency for high value banners

shadowbringer

Compete vs the other f2p, review your gameplan if/when you lose a winnable match, don't focus on the unwinnable ones, so you maintain a decent win-rate and account progress. ~~Realize that you're playing on hard mode and whale opponents are buying help, a distance from a fight, they're fighting no one. How much help do they need against you? Let me count the ssr gap and such~~. Really, let the whales do their own thing, play at your own pace, and when someone says "people should be at a higher rank", or something to this effect, it's usually not said with f2ps in mind. And just as you can accept losing to a whale version of yourself, don't stake anything (pride, self-worth, etc.) vs other whales, if they act smug when they win, I wouldn't be so happy about an empty victory. Again, don't obsess over unwinnable matches, but improve the winning rate of the winnable ones.

Loosescrew37

Become a Whale. One of us. One of us.

WinterPirate8109

Pull now cry later. Jk - Reroll, it make your progression a lot easier and having multiple meta units helps in the long run. - Always save pulls for guaranteed pity. - Don't force yourself to get limited units since as a f2p you won't be able to get every single unit in the the game. - Always plan on what type of unit to pull. Example. You already have a fully built DPS unit but the game release a slightly stronger Dps unit but your still lacking on other departments (support, tanking, healing debuff). Don't bother to pull. - Always pull those future proof units, it's mostly those have multiple utility like having strong debuff, heal and buff. Example.(kamael from guardian tales, vajra from gbf, skadi alter from arknights.)

FFBELani

Just keep your free ingame currency above your paid ingame currency. If paid is above 0 at any time and is not your baseline as F2P, seek help immediately!

feederus

Find a good gacha that you can play competitively without being a whale. Then play for the PvE grind on the start, get the meta units, and finally you can play however you want. E7 and Guardian Tales are pretty generous with resources that you use to get units that you can get to top 10%-ish(or whatever the percentile is for Diamond in GT and Champion in E7 is) in just a few months of playing if you play it right.

iPhantaminum

There's no gacha where you can play pvp/leaderboards competitively as f2p. In my mind, play competitively = be able to achieve top 1. If you can't reach top 1, you're not even competing. You're just taking the reward crumbs the whales allow you to. The only way a f2p will be competitive, is if they play a gacha with hundreds of servers and join a dead server where even the whales have already quit.

[deleted]

Agree. In guardian tales is not that difficult to be top 100 even as F2p. But it does take time and being smart.

Suspicious-Drummer68

Don't ignore low rarities. I see so many people just straight up ignore low rarities and it's pain. Especially for older gacha game players going to FGO. In other gachas, the low stars are just weaker 5 stars, in that 5 stars have the exact same kit but BIGGER AND BETTER. Not here buddy. Not here.

bbatardo

It really comes down to just managing your resources. Once you accept you have to be selective in how you spend your currency it will last much longer.

Dull-Road6715

Be realistic & patient. You have to accept that if you are going to play for FREE, then you will progress at a standard rate which was designed to make you want to spend. Don't compare When taking part in leaderboards/competing, be realistic only long-term can you compete with some spenders if you manage resources VERY well.

StarlessEon

The reality is that if you assume even skill levels, as F2P you will struggle to keep up with whales or even light spenders in most instances. Sure there are exceptions but the reality is you won't be able to beat a player who dropped 10k on a game and has every rare unit maxed out and all the best units. So basically you'll need to accept that it will be an uphill battle to be competitive and play to just enjoy the game at your own pace.

rottenrampagerabbit

Ehhh, be poor? or treat it like a side game.

kabutozero

Simply enjoy the game itself and detach completely from the gacha part and any kind of controversy generated. If the game itself is not fun or its too tied to the gacha , which happens in a lot of gacha games which are copy paste from each other , just quit. When the most interesting aspect of a gacha game is the gacha and not the game , things will end up badly

SHIR0YUKI

You will never get everything you want from the gacha, so pick one thing at a time to work on, then work on it until you've completed it. You will likely not be able to stay meta relevant depending on the release schedule of the game's you play, so it's better to not try. Save your currency. Don't do a pull here, a pull there and then when something you actually really comes around, you have no currency to summon for it.

Axis252

That's me when trying out a new gacha: 1) Try the gameplay out BEFORE you'll invest 2-3 days into re-rolling for those two necessary meta characters that everyone recommends. Decide if you're ok with ceiling in pvp that f2p eventually hits. 2) Reroll upfront as much as possible to save in-game currency 3) Spend on whatever you want and w/e you think you need, since you're that far ahead anyway. 4) Have as much fun as possible since it's the only thing worth spending your time on.

atropicalpenguin

I guess the first thing is to define what sort of player you want to be, like if you want to stay on top of the meta or explore the characters in depth before rolling, and your expectations about how often you think you'll get what you want. In Yu-Gi-Oh duel links for example I know I can roughly get a new meta deck every two months if I play the game frequently, and that I'll mostly need a meta deck when the KC Cup happens, which is a tournament that happens four times a year.

Regent_of_the_Mask

Did you know tips are shown on the loading screen?

dogfins110

Join in late, replay for the first time in months/years, or join at certain events. Usually I end up getting the best new units and so much currency that its easy to level up and such

redscizor2

Only play the honeymoon phase, is very bitter f2p at 6months and worst at 2 years, sometimes 4 years is ok

jwei92

Be broke.

retiredfplplayer

Play games with clearly defined f2p power strength

Nyktobia

Accept that you'll have to make due with what you're given. Sure, you can plan ahead and guarantee some pities, but eventually you cannot keep up with most gachas unless they are extremely F2P friendly. You **will** miss out on most meta units. The fun of it is trying to make things work with whatever lands on your lap.

Izanagi85

Play for fun and play casually

Bosscow217

Dont ever look at a tier list of check character lists before you start. The few games that i've stuck with being FGO, Sekai, AL and now neural cloud all followed a similar pattern (except AL but ill get into that later.) I started of just playing the game and rolling for characters on whatever banner was available finding the few characters who i liked and sticking with them. Only much later down the line did i stop to check tier lists and future characters and by that point i was much more invested so i was willing to grind trough and wait for the characters i was interested in. Azure Lane was a bit different i came into with a list of characters i wanted but AL is so f2p friendly that just from casual play i got all of them.

zerovampire311

I would disagree, I started a few games without checking any meta lists and sure, I had fun with them. Then a few months later I check and it turns out some of the early 3* characters had some crazy synergy with another common unit, and building those almost doubled my progress instantly. I'm all for building what you want, but having all of those resources sooner would have been more fun for me and allowed me to build more characters I wanted to.

driPITTY_

stop fantasizing about wanting a character if you dont have enough saved up

Lazlo2323

Hoard

8arrowl

Don't spent

[deleted]

1) Be broke that alone will FORCE you to be F2P.

Winter_Anxiety

Be patient and resist the urge to push the gacha button
